Chapter 457: Who Is Kasam's Undercover Agent
The whereabouts of Kasam were Farhadi's primary concern. If this matter was not thoroughly resolved, the consequences would be endless.
They searched all possible hiding places for Kasam but couldn't find where he went, which made Farhadi panic. After all, he was the biggest warlord in Ba Country, and although Farhadi had taken Kasam's chair, it was better to be safe than sorry. It was hard to say how many of Kasam's followers would accept him, and such a large operation could go wrong without Kasam.
"We've searched everywhere, but there's no trace of Kasam." Lani reported reluctantly.
"How could that be? Can Kasam have escaped? He must be hiding somewhere. Keep looking for him." Farhadi barked, showing no intention of giving up, and then he turned to a broad-foreheaded man and asked, "Where is he? Didn't you assure me that Kasam was here? Where did he go?"
The broad-foreheaded man was someone close to Kasam, but his true identity was that of a spy.
"He was indeed here just now, but I don't know where he is now," the broad-foreheaded man stammered. "Not only has Kasam disappeared, but several key figures of Ba Country who were with him are also gone."
"Speak, what's going on? If you don't give me a satisfactory answer, I'll kill you," Farhadi angrily exclaimed.
He had to be angry, and even Brand was a bit restless. If they couldn't capture Kasam, and if Kasam was given a chance to recover, it would lead to endless trouble, possibly resulting in a complete defeat.
How could Farhadi be willing to let Kasam take back the position he had just obtained?
"I am confident that I acted flawlessly and my identity was not exposed. Perhaps someone leaked the information before I disrupted the communication equipment, and Kasam learned the intel and escaped," the broad-foreheaded man argued logically.
"You mean someone by my side leaked the information, which ruined the plan," Farhadi suddenly realized. When he launched the attack, there was absolutely no chance for Kasam to slip away; he must have escaped in advance.
"I've been lurking by Kasam's side for more than five years. Although I don't know who Kasam's insider is or their identity, I can confirm there's someone next to you supplying Kasam with inside information. I've reported this to you early on," the broad-foreheaded man said confidently. As an experienced spy, he had acquired a lot of intel.
"How could that be?" Farhadi murmured. It was clear he couldn't accept this situation at once. Few people knew about his setup for this kill, other than his deputy and Brand. There were also a few trustworthy officers around him who only learned about it right before the action.
"Brand couldn't be betraying me, and Lani is loyal to me, she couldn't have betrayed me either," Farhadi quickly thought to himself, then said in confusion, "Perhaps when we launched a full-scale offensive, Kasam learned of my intentions. It makes sense that some small figures around me became Kasam's insiders. If Kasam hadn't planted spies in my camp, it would be truly surprising."
He did not intend to pursue this matter. The most urgent task now was to catch Kasam.
"Let's set aside the matter of the spy for now. According to what he said, Kasam escaped not long ago. This indicates that Kasam was prepared and may have used a secret path to escape right under our noses," Lani said with murderous intent. "I'm sure Kasam hasn't gone far. Possible hiding places, besides military bases, would be seeking help from the Chu Group. We should strike with thunderous force, not giving Kasam a chance to breathe, or else we will suffer."
"Miss Lani makes a lot of sense. I know Kasam very well. If he still has cards in his hand, he will definitely look for an opportunity to make a comeback. We must extinguish this tendency and eliminate this danger in the bud," Brand said. "As for having insiders, that's very common. To understand the opponent's first move, such arrangements are definitely necessary. Even we businessmen use these methods, so naturally, Kasam would pay attention and make efforts in this regard."
"What you both say makes sense. Regardless of who this insider is, as long as they're a minor figure, they can't cause much turbulence," Farhadi felt somewhat reassured and said to the two officers, "According to Lani's suggestion, you two take men and surround the military base. You must force the people inside to surrender and resolve the issue as quickly as possible. If you encounter resistance, try to persuade them. If persuasion fails, then storm the military base at the fastest speed until Kasam is found."
"Yes, we will complete the mission." The two officers were Farhadi's top generals, and with their involvement, they could surely overcome any challenge they faced.
Seeing the two officers leave, Farhadi then displayed a smile, anticipating victory. Despite the slight turn of events, as long as these two generals acted, they would surely be able to quickly and effectively dismantle the resistance and capture Kasam alive.
"Now, while we have the chance, we should take the opportunity to eliminate Ye Fan and Chu Mengyao, thus eradicating this threat and preventing Kasam from colluding with the Chu Group to stir up trouble," Brand said impatiently.
Lani hesitated for a moment, then assertively said, "Brand, I know you dream of seeing Ye Fan and Chu Mengyao dead and hope to control all of the Chu Group's business as soon as possible, but are you a bit too anxious? The immediate priority is to eliminate the potential future risk that Kasam poses. That's of utmost importance. If something goes wrong, it would be disastrous. Before resolving the threat of Kasam, we should focus all our attention on him and not divert resources to quash the Chu Group. Once the crisis with Kasam is defused, there will be time to deal with the Chu Group."
"You both make valid points." Farhadi cast a keen glance at Lani and Brand and said, "Based on the current situation, capturing Kasam is only a matter of time, there is no doubt about that. As for the Chu Group, there's no need to worry. To ensure the first-time elimination of this enemy, it's time to also pay attention to the Chu Group."
As he spoke, he waved to a loyal subordinate.
"What are your orders?" the officer bowed and asked.
"It's time for you to take action. Fly a plane and bomb the residence of Ye Fan and Chu Mengyao, killing them both," Farhadi commanded loudly.
"Yes," the officer, filled with murderous intent, left.
On Farhadi's side, he had trained four people capable of piloting bombers. It's not that there weren't enough talents; there simply weren't enough planes. Therefore, the four pilots led by the officer were his trump cards.
