My Wife Is A Miracle Doctor In The 80s

Chapter 392 - 385: The Special Patient

Chapter 392: Chapter 385: The Special Patient

By her junior year, she was already assisting Dean Tao during all sorts of surgeries. Some of these surgeries she even led herself, like bone setting operations. She’d worked on several cases, and her skills had improved remarkably. The technique, however, was still not widely known, making her the only one capable of performing such surgeries. Aside from a high success rate in past cases, she also used the Chen Family Acupuncture Method to ensure smooth blood flow, which further ensured the success of the surgeries.

One day, just as Tang Yuxin was about to pick up her books and head to class, a black jeep parked before her.

The door opened and Gu Ning stepped out of the car. It was clear that he was worn out, his body noticeably thinner.

“Hop in, come with me,” Gu Ning said as he opened the car door. He didn’t say anything else, perhaps he didn’t want to, or perhaps there was simply no time to explain.

Tang Yuxin didn’t ask any questions. She knew from Gu Ning’s expression that something serious must have happened. His trembling arms and fingers were clear indications of his anxiety.

Opening her bag, Tang Yuxin reached in to retrieve a cup but before she could take a gulp, Gu Ning grabbed the cup from her hands, opened it, and drained its contents.

“Um…” Tang Yuxin said awkwardly, “my…cup?”

“I’ll get you a new one later.”

Gu Ning placed the cup in a place easily reachable for him, suggesting that he had no intent to return it.

The ride was nothing like the last one. Last time, Tang Yuxin could sleep during the journey. But this time, she had to clutch the armrest tightly, fearing she might be flung out due to the high speed of the jeep. She was on the brink of vomiting out her lunch from the speed.

“Hold on, we’re almost there,” Gu Ning called back to her.

Turning his head for a second, he reached a hand back to give Tang Yuxin a comforting pat on the back.

Coughing suddenly, Tang Yuxin nearly threw up.

“Brother, can you drive more carefully? I’m about to throw up.”

Gu Ning withdrew his hand and continued to drive at high speed. Inwardly, Tang Yuxin swore she would never ride with this man again.

This was not like being in a car, but more like being on a roller coaster.

When the jeep finally came to a stop, Tang Yuxin jumped out quickly and began vomiting at the side of the road.

Gu Ning came over, his hand on her back as he gently patted it. His force was much less aggressive this time, compared to his patting inside the jeep.

Eventually, Tang Yuxin was able to stand up again.

“I had my lunch for nothing.”

Gu Ning looked surprised. He placed a hand on his temple and tapped lightly, “I’ll treat you to whatever you want to eat later.”

“For now, come with me,” as he spoke, he reached out his hand to grab Tang Yuxin’s, then strode forward. Tang Yuxin, who initially wanted to withdraw her hand, started following closely his steps when she realized they were headed to the Beijing General Hospital.

When Tang Yuxin arrived, she saw a man lying on a hospital bed, his face pale as a ghost. She couldn’t see what was wrong with him, as he was covered by a blanket.

“It’s him. He’s an archaeologist,” Gu Ning explained, “While protecting some artifacts, his leg was broken by tomb robbers. Amputation might be necessary. Do you think you can save his leg?”

An archaeologist? Tang Yuxin was taken aback — such an intriguing profession. But regardless of how mysterious it was, prioritizing saving lives was the key.

She placed her bag on the ground next to her, then rolled up her sleeves. She grabbed a pair of surgical gloves from a tray and put them on.

Moving towards the man, she pulled back the blanket revealing his legs.

His legs were horribly mangled, flesh and bone alike messed up beyond recognition. The best course of action would be to amputate, as the injuries were severe. Even if they tried to save the leg, the chances of failure were high due to the risk of infection. Any carelessness could result in all the efforts going in vain.

“Can you save the leg?” Gu Ning asked Tang Yuxin.

As the patient was of significant importance, and also connected to the safety of some artifacts, nothing could happen to him.

“I’ll give it a try,” Tang Yuxin replied, grabbing her needle kit. After disinfecting a needle, she pierced it into the man’s mutilated leg. Then, she deftly tapped the needle’s end, as if sensing the blood flow through the leg before removing the needle. Then, she pierced another location.

Frankly speaking, if she did not possess the exclusive Chen-style Rejuvenation Acupuncture Technique and various ancient medicinal recipes, this man’s leg would have to be amputated, regardless of the time and efforts put in the surgery, due to the risk of tissue necrosis and post-surgery infection.

After roughly five minutes, she packed away her needles.

“So?” All the doctors and nurses in the room held their breaths, waiting for her verdict. Life or death, indefinitely confined to a wheelchair or not — it all depended on her next statement.

“Get ready for the surgery. I’ll lead it.”

Tang Yuxin took a deep breath. This surgery could take hours. She not only had to clean up the necrotic tissues but also mend bones, restore blood circulation, and keep the tissue in the legs active. She had to be quick, otherwise, her acupuncture wouldn’t be able to save the leg.

While she was to lead the surgery, she would simultaneously perform acupuncture. She wasn’t completely confident in her ability, but she wanted to give it a shot.

Gu Ning nodded, and preparations for the surgery began quickly in the hospital.

Tang Yuxin was already dressed in her surgical gown, and there was no time to consider the possible challenges they might face during the operation.

With each passing second, the ankles became more dangerous. Whether or not she could save these legs depended on her speed and her luck.
