Chapter 393 - 386: She Believes in Her Own Hands
Chapter 393: Chapter 386: She Believes in Her Own Hands
Yet, she would rather believe in her own hands.
In the beginning, she asserted, I’ve already picked up a scalpel. Following that, she meticulously began this punishing surgery: bone reconstruction, blood vessel reconnection, stitching up each strip of flesh. For these legs, the assurance of survival required preserving as much flesh as possible. The more flesh preserved, the higher the survival rate. Thus, she refused to give up any touchable piece of flesh. Despite the legs being heavily distorted, she painstakingly reconnected the flesh on those legs, taking back all that she could. Thankfully, there were fewer broken bones. The most troublesome thing was the numerous strips of flesh on the legs. She held a scalpel with her left hand, a Silver Needle with her right. After several insertions, she started to stitch up the pieces of flesh, such that those familiar with the process could see that with each insertion by Tang Yuxin, the flesh and blood seemed to pulsate of their own accord.
Cleanse, suture. She operated without any hint of panic. Once she was utterly exhausted, to the point of experiencing dizziness and blurry vision, she would collapse on the ground. No one could offer her aid, and no one was capable of doing so.
They wished to help but were powerless because they had no knowledge.
By using the needle in her hand, Tang Yuxin stimulated the vitality and life in each strip of flesh. She performed surgery on her knees for a total of eleven hours.
Eleven hours later, what had initially been a pair of legs reduced to a bloody pulp were filled with flesh that she forcibly reconnected. Now, apart from the sections infected and already necrotic, more than sixty-five percent of the flesh had been sutured back by her. As for what she was capable of doing, she had already done her utmost.
She tried to rise, but her knees had gone numb from kneeling and couldn’t bear her weight. It was a doctor who came to her aid.
Each step she took was painful, she was exhausted, and above all, she was starving.
When she exited, there was still a crowd outside the operating room.
“Rest assured, the surgery was successful,” Tang Yuxin gave them an okay sign. Although subsequent operations were necessary, for now her legs were safe. As for their recovery, it would depend on how well she healed. After all, she wasn’t Shen Fei; Shen Fei was young and his body healed well, but this patient couldn’t compare to him. Being nearly fifty, her recovery was certain to be slower.
Most of Shen Fei’s injuries were to his bones while hers were mostly to her flesh. The nature of their injuries were different, thus, considering their current state, her flesh brought even more harm.
The first reason was due to age, the second was infection. However, planting several layers of fresh skin afterward would lead to great improvements.
Seeing the relief on the faces of others, they stayed outside the sickroom, unwilling to leave out of fear that if the officer woke and they didn’t get a chance to see him, they’d regret it. Without confirming that their officer was truly out of danger, they wouldn’t leave.
As for whether there was any danger, neither what Tang Yuxin said nor what anyone else said would do. Only when he was released from the intensive care unit would he be truly safe and trouble-free.
Tang Yuxin sat down on a lounge chair and, leaning against the wall, fell asleep. Not long after, she felt as if someone was shaking her awake.
“Hmm, what’s wrong?” She managed to pry open her eyes. At some unknown point, she had been moved to a single hospital bed. The room had a table, chairs, and a small bathroom, and the amount of light coming through the spacious window was quite good. If the curtains were drawn back, an abundance of sunlight would filter in, rendering the room warm and full of various hues of sunshine.
She sat up, still feeling tired.
“Eat first, then sleep,” Gu Ning had a lunchbox in front of her.
“What time is it?” Tang Yuxin took a pair of chopsticks. She was ravenous.
Gu Ning looked at his wristwatch, “It’s two o’clock in the morning.”
“Is it really that late?” Tang Yuxin mumbled around mouthfuls of food.
“Don’t worry,” Gu Ning took a seat, “I’ve already informed the school. You’ll be helping here for a while.”
“Okay,” Tang Yuxin agreed. This was her patient. She had to wait until he was out of danger before leaving, and the patient still needed to drink the medicine she would personally prepare. Otherwise, the toxins in his legs wouldn’t come out and would further cloud his recovery. She’d worked hard for so long, there was no reason to squander it all now and let these past several hours go to waste.
“You can stay here,” Gu Ning rose and slightly bent, “If you need anything, you can ask the nursing staff directly. I’ve already taken care of it for you.”
“I see,” Tang Yuxin continued eating, never stopping. She was so hungry it was unbearable.
“Is that enough?” Gu Ning pointed to the additional food— a bowl of yuan soup and a steamer of xiaolongbao.
“This is enough,” Tang Yuxin was very pleased with the meal, the baozi here were particularly delicious.
“Well…” she thought for a moment, “I can’t finish all of this, do you want to help me eat some?”
Gu Ning reached out to take a pair of chopsticks from her hand and then took a baozi to start eating. Tang Yuxin was stunned.
Could Gu Ning try to be a bit less casual? Maintain the difference between men and women, maintain his purity?
He drank from my cup, used my chopsticks to eat, even close friends wouldn’t behave like this, let alone them. They were not that familiar with each other.
“Here,” Gu Ning handed the chopsticks back to Tang Yuxin. He ate two of them, the rest were for Tang Yuxin. Tang Yuxin looked at the chopsticks in her hand, between throwing away the chopsticks and grabbing food with her hands, she chose the chopsticks.
She picked up another baozi and continued eating, while the faint sound of a door closing reached her ears. She couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. She breathed deeply, letting out big sighs of breath.
Some people cause others to feel pressured, it’s scary.
She finished eating and put the bowls and chopsticks aside. She had no energy left to clean up, she was just too tired.
After concentrating for eleven hours, once she releaxed, she felt like she could hardly move.
Her knees hurt, her legs hurt, her fingers hurt, her arms hurt. Every muscle in her body hurt, even her fingers were numb.
