Inside a single room at the hotel.
"Erina-sama, why do you suddenly need to buy two laptops? And gaming laptops, no less?" Hisako Arato asked, carrying the laptop bags, her expression a mix of hesitation and bewilderment as she arrived at the show venue. She had received a distress call from Erina on LINE. She immediately went to a specialty store and bought two gaming laptops.
However, not being particularly familiar with computers, Hisako Arato had simply bought the most expensive gaming laptops on the market. Expensive ones can't be that bad in terms of performance, right?
Renz was never disappointed by Erina's spending habits; when she said buy, she bought, and Renz respected her for that. For Erina, money was merely a string of numbers. She was so wealthy that she had no real concept of spending.
Moreover, Renz hadn't imagined such efficiency. Given Erina's fear of horror games, Renz had assumed she might wait a few days, perhaps until his phase of horror game obsession passed, before finding an opportune moment to buy the laptops.
Speaking of which, as a gaming enthusiast, Renz's demand for laptops was quite ordinary. If he had a desktop, he would prioritize it. A desktop PC costing around 100,000 Yen could generally match the performance of a 250,000 Yen laptop, and with its smaller screen, Renz genuinely disliked gaming laptops.
However, for business trips or events where a desktop couldn't be brought along, the portability of a laptop became important.
"I feel like playing games," Erina answered Hisako Arato 's bewildered question. Erina-sama has a gaming hobby? Hisako Arato had never heard of this. Shouldn't the Erina-sama's only hobby be cooking? Her gaze quickly fell on Renz. The problem definitely lies with this man.
There was no need to think twice; how could someone who usually paid no attention to games suddenly decide to buy gaming laptops? The most crucial point was that if Erina-sama truly understood games and decided to buy them after consideration, she would at least be aware of the market, allowing her to specify a particular model of laptop to buy, instead of simply waving her hand and telling Hisako to demand the two most expensive gaming laptops from the counter.
Hisako Arato 's judgment on this was spot-on. Erina indeed didn't know how to assemble or configure a computer, as that task was usually left to Renz. Renz would set up the computer, and Erina would simply play on the ready-made, pre-configured machine.
However, saying Erina didn't play games at all was a big mistake. Erina, except for a few things where her brain might be a little slow, was a very intelligent person most of the time. Her mind was agile, and in puzzle games, Erina was much stronger than Renz. Sometimes, in puzzle-solving games, Renz would discuss with Erina how to clear levels.
Coupled with a chef's naturally nimble hands, Erina's operational skills weren't bad either. There was only one type of game she couldn't handle: the horror games Renz had mentioned earlier. People with fast reflexes were easily startled by sudden scares.
With horror games' background music and the 'ghosts' that could jump onto the screen at any moment, Erina would freeze up, her movements becoming stiff, her mind dull, and she would only think about how to force-quit the game.
Back in the room, Erina's explanation clearly hadn't dispelled Hisako Arato 's suspicions. Hisako Arato cared deeply for Erina, and she was concerned: was Erina spending too lavishly on Renz? Although Renz had initially gained Hisako Arato 's trust, that trust hadn't reached a level where she could overlook such expenditures, or 'indulge' Erina in spending carelessly on someone else.
They'd just started dating! Emotions weren't a one-way street; sometimes, the more one party gave, the more reckless the other became.
Hisako Arato 's questioning expression was obvious to Erina, who also understood its meaning.
"We're splitting the cost. Renz already gave me his share for the gaming laptop," Erina replied.
"Ah? So it was split?" Hisako Arato 's face immediately changed upon hearing this. Her pretty face flushed slightly, and she quickly bowed to Renz, apologizing, "I'm sorry, I thought the Erina-sama was spending recklessly again."
Renz felt a bit awkward and embarrassed inside because the laptops had definitely not been split. Erina had simply waved her hand and thrown out her pocket money, and Renz hadn't had time to even discuss splitting the cost.
Moreover... the reason he hadn't considered splitting the cost was that their money was generally kept together; they earned together and spent together. Sometimes she would use his money, sometimes he would use hers; there was no precise accounting of whose money was being spent. It was all "their" money.
Renz hadn't even figured out how to explain the situation when his wife played like a master strategist, dissolving the problem with a single sentence. I didn't dote on you for nothing.
"Hahahaha, and, Hisako, you've come at the perfect time," a mischievous glint sparkled in Erina's eyes. Buying laptops wasn't purely for gaming; more importantly, it was to call Hisako, her closest confidante, over.
"Hmm? What's wrong?" Hisako Arato asked curiously.
"Tonight, you're sleeping here," Erina said, wrapping her arms around Hisako Arato 's fair neck. This made Hisako Arato 's pretty face blush again.
"You... you... what are you doing?! And isn't this Renz's room? What do you mean by me staying here?!" Hisako Arato immediately refused.
"No, no, I'll explain the situation to you later. Secretary Tenzaki, from now on, I declare you fired," Erina said, walking over to the other person in the room.
Although she had lived with Secretary Akemi Tenzaki for two days, it didn't mean they were close friends; they were merely acquaintances, and there was the additional connection to her mother. Erina had been somewhat uncomfortable these past two days, often having to yield ground.
Sleeping was even more uncomfortable, especially with this woman wearing an office uniform and professional stockings, which were MAX-level attractive to men.
Just thinking about the secretary inadvertently revealing herself while sleeping made Erina feel a bit stifled.
But if the "lightbulb" interfering with their cohabitation were replaced by Hisako Arato , then Erina's feeling of constraint would subside.
"You want to fire me?" Akemi Tenzaki perked up at the sound of this. Did you think she wanted to be this lightbulb? She had also been very uncomfortable these past few days.
Although the breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all delicious, during meals, she constantly felt like someone was throwing flashbangs. So many flashbangs that Akemi Tenzaki had almost grown accustomed to Erina and Renz's interactions. She had once felt very emotional, but later became too lazy to care. One could imagine the pain she had endured these past few days.
"I'll contact your mother immediately. Please explain it to her in detail," Akemi Tenzaki said, pulling out her phone, dialing the number, and handing the phone to Erina.
???
This person seems very happy? Erina took the phone, still unable to grasp why Akemi Tenzaki's smile was so jubilant.
