Chapter 910: A Visit From an Envoy (I)
I have a pseudo-world-level weapon sealed within my elemental plane, along with five pieces of spatial equipment looted from several demon kings and a great demon king. Without any attribute points, though, I can't enhance the Eight Desolations Halberd a second time. Refining two pseudo-world-level weapons through conventional methods would take too much time and isn't worth the effort. On top of that, very little of the content in the spatial equipment is useful to me at the moment. Only two law-level minerals are worth absorbing.
Standing on Mech No.1's shoulder, Chen Chu reviewed his harvest from this great battle. After calculating everything, it seemed rather average.
Of course, it was average by his standards. The Dark War Hammer alone was actually already priceless. Refining a weapon imbued with the power of principles required a massive amount of top-tier resources and natural treasures, along with great strength. That was why only supreme powerhouses typically possessed such weapons.
At present, across the entire Human Federation, only the three supreme powerhouses and Heavenly King Yan Kuang, who had mastered a supreme law, possessed one. Heavenly King Zhenwu's True Martial Divine Stele belonged to a different weapon system, but in terms of level and power, it was already comparable to a world-level weapon. That was also why, with his peak-stage heavenly king cultivation, he could confront and even suppress a middle-stage ancient demon god.
Saying that only supreme-level beings possessed them didn't mean all human supreme powerhouses used pseudo-world-level weapons, however. Based on the information Chen Chu had, the weapon the First Councilor obtained from the Void Continent's ruins, along with an ancient inheritance, was extremely powerful, but no one knew just how powerful.
The most impressive feat on record came from the time when Zhenwu hadn't yet reached his current strength. Back then, he stood alone on the frontlines and held his ground against two demon gods and a peak-stage great demon king without being defeated. With the Celestial King and the Primordial King stationed at the Abyssal Battlefield, they successfully repelled the Purgatory Empire's first major assault twenty years ago. Then, what followed was a tug-of-war that lasted over two decades.
Although Qian Tian was undeniably powerful, his strength seemed closely tied to the human race. He couldn't easily leave human territory, so he could only maintain an undefeated stance rather than achieve a decisive victory. Moreover, his strength fluctuated. At times, he appeared unexpectedly weak, struggling even to hold his own against a middle-stage ancient demon god.
However, whenever two demon gods appeared to attack him together, his power would surge rapidly in response. Because of this, even among the human race, the First Councilor's strength remained a mystery. The demon gods of the Purgatory Empire couldn't get a read on him either.
Over the years, the Sky Battlefield had been held by the First Councilor alone. In contrast, two supreme powerhouses guarded the Abyssal Battlefield throughout the year, with Heavenly King Zhenwu and the Primordial King occasionally taking turns to rotate in and out.
Next, I'll wait for the avatar to awaken. After that, I'll send back the Life Crystals collected by Horn Hime and the others, and enhance the Eight Desolations Halberd once more. Then I'll focus on breaking through to the supreme level as soon as possible. I've already reforged my true form. The five high-level law-bound worlds have merged with the elemental plane, and I've condensed an embryonic principle with the Law of Power at its core.
This allows me to skip over the early and middle stages of the heavenly king level. All I need to do now is continue expanding the elemental plane and refining its principles, and use the power of those principles to temper my true form. The day the plane expands to ten thousand kilometers and its principles are complete will be the day I break through to the supreme level...
As Chen Chu stood with his hands behind his back, thinking about his next step in cultivation, the space ahead twisted, and Zhenwu appeared out of thin air.
Buzz!
No.1's eyes lit up as it sensed the approach of Zhenwu's powerful presence, but under Luo Fei's control, the light in its eyes dimmed again. The powerful force that had begun to awaken within it quickly fell silent, and it stood there quietly, unmoving.
Has No.1's instincts already grown to this extent? It feels as though it could develop consciousness at any moment.Zhenwu's expression turned serious. "Luo Fei, how are you feeling now? Is the spiritual contamination from the ancient awakening still strong?"
Luo Fei's calm voice came from within No.1. "It's manageable."
"As long as it's manageable." Zhenwu nodded slowly.
No.1 was a special existence. After the Celestial King, the Primordial King, and even Zhenwu had all failed, it became humanity's final trump card in resisting the second mythical surge. It had grown rapidly during this period; in fact, with Chen Chu's help, its growth had far exceeded expectations.
This was good news for the Federation as it meant a greater chance of carrying the world of the Blue Planet. However, it wasn't necessarily good news for Luo Fei. The problem was that No.1's rapid growth had triggered an ancient awakening, and it had started resonating with an ancient being who had once touched upon eternal immortality.
Even though this being had fallen countless millennia ago, it never truly died. Instead, its principles had merged into the very fabric of the mythical world, influencing and radiating across countless worlds. Even with its true form destroyed and its soul worn away, its essence hadn't perished, because the principles it left behind in the mythical world still retained fragments of its soul and will.
As No.1's power grew and its incomplete heart gradually repaired itself, the energy within would instinctively trigger the principles left behind by that ancient being. In those moments, the fragmented remnants of its soul would begin to awaken and gather, one after another. Once those faint and fragmented traces of soul power gathered to a certain threshold, the consciousness of that ancient being would return, and it would awaken again.
The worst part was that this kind of awakening couldn't be reversed. For a being of that level, even just a barely detectable wisp of soul power contained an overwhelming amount of information, so vast that no transcendent lifeform could endure it. This was also the reason why No.1's first pilot had been contaminated and assimilated. The tragedy happened because there hadn't been enough research on No.1 at the time.
Luo Fei's path, however, was different. She used a primal secret art called Reflecting the Heavens with the Heart, relying on her uniquely refined mental state to project and resonate with the Primordial Azure Sky described in ancient texts.
The Azure Sky acted as a vessel, carrying the fragmented soul of the ancient being during its resurrection. Through it, she could extract and strip away the will and overwhelming information embedded in each soul fragment, leaving only the purest core of soul essence.
Combined with the power No.1 gained from devouring countless lifeforms, including the flesh and souls of demon kings and great demon kings, which was then redirected to nourish her, Luo Fei's strength soared like a rocket. The only problem was that no one had ever walked this path before. No one knew whether Luo Fei would ultimately replace that ancient being, or end up being assimilated by it all the same.
Zhenwu looked at Chen Chu with a solemn expression. "Chen Chu, now that the battle here has ended, I plan to return to the Federation ahead of schedule to prepare for the counteroffensive. You'll be in charge of holding down the fort here for now. You don't need to worry about the minor affairs; Xuanwu and the others will take care of the handover with the Heavenly Feathered Race."
"No problem," Chen Chu nodded.
While they were waiting for the Eternal Divine Region to be devoured, Chen Chu had already discussed in secret with Zhenwu and the others about launching a counterattack on the two Purgatory Empires following the alliance between the human race and the Heavenly Feathered Race. All of them had agreed that the timing was too good to miss.
Although everyone knew time was tight, the Heavenly Feathered battleships didn't have Overdrive Mode, and the Federation's orbital warships couldn't just abandon their allies and rush ahead. So they could only match the Heavenly Feathered battleships's speed on the return journey.
After a few more words, Zhenwu departed first, leaving Chen Chu as the highest-ranking commander of the expeditionary force. Since they were now on the return journey and there were no battles taking place, Chen Chu sat cross-legged on No.1's shoulder. A black imperial seal floated in his hand, with a miniature galaxy slowly rotating inside it. The invisible fluctuations it released made even No.1 tremble slightly beneath him.
This was the Emperor's Inheritance Chen Chu had obtained from the void ruins after walking the Path of the Emperor. It was a complete, blank primordial principle, and the key to his future breakthrough into becoming a civilization emperor.
However, his strength had been too weak in the past to refine it. Only after reaching the heavenly king level had he finally met the threshold. The problem was that Chen Chu still had no experience in refining such a principle.
Chen Chu's divine soul and will entered the imperial seal. In that instant, his consciousness trembled violently, and his presence became vague and obscure, fading little by little until it nearly vanished. If he hadn't still been sitting on No.1's shoulder, Luo Fei might have thought he had disappeared completely.
Inside No.1, Luo Fei stood upon the void. Her gaze was cold and detached, like a god far above, devoid of emotion. Dark-golden markings spread across her body, growing more intricate, as if they embodied some profound truth of heaven and earth. The energy-based divine battle armor had almost completely transformed into dark golden scales.
As the degree of assimilation deepened, the ancient aura surrounding Luo Fei grew stronger and more distinct.
