Mythical Era: My Evolution into a Celestial Beast

Chapter 911: A Visit From an Envoy (II)

While the expeditionary force rushed back at full speed, the aftermath of Chen Chu's earlier infiltration deep into the Dark Demonic Morkaya Empire's territory was still unfolding.

Under the bright moonlight, a suspended island several kilometers wide, shaped like an upside-down battleship, sped through the air. Dark demonic qi filled the island's surroundings, turning its atmosphere cold and oppressive.

Two True Demons of the Purgatory Empire stood on the island, each radiating a peak Ninth Demonic Mark aura. Their overwhelming presence caused the transcendent energy within hundreds of kilometers to tremble and surge.

Guludeen, the true demon with two pairs of forked horns, remarked in a heavy tone, "Brooks, they say the Mountain Giant appeared near the edge of Demon King Talos's territory. He's already leading his legion to hunt it down. Do you think we should rush over now or take our time?"

Brooks thought for a moment. "According to our intel, that Mountain Giant is extremely powerful and dangerous. It devoured every being in the five territories that had lost their demon kings, allowing it to reach the mythical level. Moreover, it has awakened some kind of powerful force that makes even Talos cautious. Although Lord Tarorya issued this mission, and all demons must obey her, we can afford to slow down just a bit. With our current strength, as long as we're careful, we should still be able to protect ourselves even if we encounter a mythical-level opponent.

"I understand, Brooks." Guludeen gave a knowing look, its demonic eyes filled with sly intent. "If we get the chance, we'll take the credit. If not, let those fools die trying."

"As long as you understand," Brooks said with a faint smile.

His incursion into the Purgatory Demon Clan had brought him great results. Due to his Purgatory bloodline constantly being purified and strengthened, his strength had already reached the quasi-mythical level. Now that he had awakened powerful divine Purgatory abilities, he no longer feared even a beginning-stage demon king.

His power had grown far faster than it ever could have if he had stayed within human territory. Now, all he needed was the right opportunity, and he would likely be able to break through to the demon king level.

Among the younger generation, no one had probably reached the mythical level faster than he had—except for that monster Chen Chu. This was all the more remarkable given that he was only just over twenty years old.

Following the coordinates, Brooks and his companion, who were already near the edge of the empire, quickly piloted their demonic island across more than two hundred thousand kilometers and reached the Fallen Soul Mountain Range. As soon as they arrived, terrifying roars and powerful energy fluctuations echoed from the distance.

Mountain peaks collapsed one after another amid a raging battle. The land across several hundred kilometers cracked apart, and countless towering trees were snapped, set ablaze, and swept up into scorching air currents.

A thousand kilometers away, tens of thousands of true demons from the Purgatory Empire's main battle legion had surrounded the area. Together with a middle-stage demon king, they fought a terrifying giant.

It only had the aura of a beginning-stage mythical being, yet it radiated an overwhelming sense of pressure. Towering at over a thousand meters tall, it was even larger than the demon king who had revealed his true form.

It was completely covered in golden-gray stone that shimmered with a metallic sheen, and a dense fog of blood enveloped it. Moreover, its shoulder muscles bulged so massively that its head almost fused with its neck in a straight line, making it look like a headless giant. Gripping a golden-gray battle axe 1,500 meters long, it resembled Xing Tian, the god of war from myths and legends.

Its strength was truly terrifying. It clashed head-on with the demon king without falling behind at all. Each time it swung its colossal axe, the sharp aura it released made the demon king's expression shift slightly. He couldn't even dare meet the attack head-on.

Boom!

The battle axe slammed into the ground, instantly shattering the earth and carving a rift over five hundred kilometers long. The immense crushing force obliterated more than a thousand true demons along its path.

However, after the attack, the giant paused briefly. The eyes of several nearby true demon elites lit up as they saw an opportunity. Among them, two peak-stage Ninth Demonic Mark true demons shouted, "Baldero, let's focus our attacks on its right knee joint. Cripple one of its legs first!"

"Charge!"

With furious roars, the two quasi-mythical-level true demons transformed into streaks of black light, appearing behind the Mountain Giant. The demonic spear and saber light in their hands flickered.

Just as the two elite Purgatory demons were about to strike, the nearby demon king's expression suddenly darkened. "Careful! Fall back!"

Before they could react, two immense forces, each a hundred meters in diameter, came crashing down from the sky, landing directly on top of them.

Bang! Bang!

Within a twenty-kilometer-wide domain shaped by the Law of Gravity, the compressed and condensed hundred-meter-wide gravitational force fields instantly crushed the two demons into a mist of blood.

The force then drove the blood mist straight into the ground, creating two massive craters that were thousands of meters deep and a hundred meters wide. The rock at the bottom had been compressed so intensely that it solidified like refined steel, taking on a gray-golden metallic sheen.

The scene made the demon king and all of the surrounding Purgatory nobles, including Brooks and Guludeen, narrow their eyes in shock.

The Mountain Giant let out a savage roar. It spun around and burst forward with astonishing speed, stomping the ground beneath its feet into pieces until it crashed into the forest behind it.

The demon king didn't attempt to stop it. He simply hovered in the air, his expression grave. After a long pause, he finally turned to look at the nearby Purgatory nobles. Coldly, he commanded, "Popokosa, once we return, report to Lord Tarorya that we have already repelled the Mountain Giant and that it has fled beyond the empire's borders."

The commander of the Purgatory legion lowered its head and respectfully responded, "Yes, my lord."

No longer paying the true demons any attention, the demon king led his legion back to the territory. The twenty true demons he had left behind all looked at each other in silence.

These late-stage and peak Ninth Demonic Mark demons weren't even qualified to receive a personal greeting from the demon king. To a mythical-level powerhouse, all those below the mythical level were mere ants. Until one stepped into the mythical level and became a demon king, they would always remain beneath those who already had. The true demons understood this well, so none of them dared to show any dissatisfaction.

Guludeen admired Brooks's caution once more. That Mountain Giant was indeed terrifyingly strong, capable of killing them all in an instant. Yet as Brooks gazed in the direction where the Mountain Giant had disappeared, a sense of decline suddenly struck him—as though the sun were setting on the empire.

He fell deep in thought. This is the mighty Purgatory Empire, an empire guarded by two demon gods, nine great demon kings, and nearly forty demon kings. Yet, at this moment, they can't do a thing about a Mountain Giant who'd only just broken through to the mythical level. It sounds unbelievable, even laughable.

Most of the Morkaya Empire's demon kings, great demon kings, and even demon gods were currently deployed at the frontlines. Only thirteen demon kings and four great demon kings were left to defend the rear.

Ever since Chen Chu's rampage, seven of those defending demon kings had been slain, one great demon king had fallen, and Tarorya, the peak-stage great demon king, had been injured. Even the demon god who had rushed back to reinforce the rear had sustained serious injuries, forcing him to go into seclusion deep within the empire to recover.

Their forces were also still being drawn from the rear to support the frontlines in preparation for an all-out war against the human race. As a result, the empire's rearlines had been left dangerously exposed.

Now, they couldn't muster a proper response against the Mountain Giant that was harassing the empire's borders. Several demon kings had attempted to intervene, but all they could do was drive it away. It appeared insane and irrational, yet it acted with surprising cunning. It only attacked territories that lacked the suppression of a demon king.

Perhaps this is an opportunity,Brooks thought. If they can launch another strike against the rear, it might be enough to throw the Morkaya Empire's rearlines into complete chaos.

As he debated whether to report the matter, Guludeen's communication artifact suddenly lit up. A moment later, the true demon said in surprise, "Brooks, Demon King Gaya has issued new orders. The mission to intercept the Mountain Giant has been canceled. His Lordship has commanded us to head immediately to the southern demonic region to assemble. As members of the empire's new generation of geniuses, we are to welcome the empire's envoy."

Brooks paused, taken aback. "An envoy?"

Guludeen seemed excited. "Yes. It's said they were invited from an even more powerful empire, and His Majesty Deorus and one of the demon gods from the ancestral court are escorting them."

Brooks's expression immediately turned serious.
