Chapter 2: Naruto waking up & CHanges!
Naruto's body remained still as the gentle warmth of dawn painted the Land of Waves. The boy who once filled the room with his endless chatter was now sleeping soundly, as if the heavy burden of the world had finally lifted from his small shoulders.
Yet, within the silence of the dimly lit room, a certain girl with lavender eyes sat quietly beside him.
Hinata Hyuga.
Her pale, delicate fingers gently wrung a warm towel as she softly wiped the sweat from Naruto's forehead. Her gaze, filled with worry and tenderness, never left his face.
"Y-You really... push yourself too much, Naruto-kun," she whispered in a voice only the sleeping boy could hear.
Since the battle on the bridge ended, Naruto had fallen into a deep slumber, and while everyone believed it was due to exhaustion, Hinata... sensed something more.
It wasn't just physical fatigue.
It was as if Naruto's soul itself was drained.
Her heart ached at the thought of how much he must have endured to protect them all. How much he silently bore on his back...
And yet, he never showed weakness.
On the other side of the room, Kiba leaned against the wall with his arms crossed, watching Hinata quietly tend to Naruto.
"Hmph. You really care about that idiot, don't you, Hinata?" Kiba muttered with a smirk.
Hinata flinched slightly but didn't deny it. Her face flushed red as she lowered her head.
Shino, who stood silently near the window, adjusted his dark glasses. "Naruto... is unpredictable. Yet, he somehow inspires those around him. Perhaps that's what draws Hinata toward him."
Kiba raised a brow. "You're sounding pretty deep again, Shino."
Shino simply remained silent, as usual.
Sakura, sitting near Sasuke, sighed. "I never thought... Naruto would be the one to carry the heaviest burden in this mission."
Sasuke glanced at Naruto's sleeping face and narrowed his eyes.
"That idiot... just keeps getting ahead of me," he muttered, clenching his fists.
Kakashi, who was calmly reading his book, chuckled softly.
"Well, it seems Naruto has grown more than any of us expected... and not just in strength."
His gaze shifted toward Hinata, who was gently adjusting Naruto's blanket, her expression filled with care.
'So... even someone like Naruto is capable of drawing others toward him in a way none of us can,' Kakashi thought with a rare smile beneath his mask.
Time passed slowly.
The villagers outside began preparing for the celebration of the bridge's completion, but within the room, the atmosphere was calm and warm.
Inari, the young boy Naruto had once inspired, peeked through the door.
"Oi... is Naruto-nii okay now?" he asked hesitantly.
Kiba smirked. "Yeah, that idiot's just sleeping like a log as usual."
Inari smiled faintly. "He's... really something, huh?"
Hinata's heart softened at those words.
'Yes... Naruto-kun is... someone truly amazing.'
Even as the day turned to dusk, Naruto remained asleep.
While the others eventually left to help the villagers, Hinata stubbornly stayed behind, keeping watch over him.
The gentle moonlight filtered through the wooden window, casting a soft glow on the blonde boy's face.
Hinata's eyes shimmered as she hesitated... before reaching out and gently holding Naruto's hand.
"I... I want to stand beside you one day, Naruto-kun," she whispered, her voice trembling with sincerity.
Deep within the darkness of his mind, Naruto's soul drifted through an endless void.
Yet, somewhere far away...
He felt a faint warmth.
A warmth that wrapped around his hand.
'What... is this feeling?'
The night passed, and Naruto...
Slept soundly, never knowing that a girl's heart had already begun to quietly bloom for him.
The faint light of dawn seeped through the wooden window, illuminating the small, quiet room where Naruto lay. The soft chirping of birds echoed from outside, and the scent of the ocean breeze gently drifted in, carrying the peaceful essence of the Land of Waves.
Naruto's eyelids trembled slightly before slowly fluttering open. His vision blurred momentarily as he adjusted to the dim light. His body felt heavy, as if all the energy had been drained from him, yet there was a strange warmth lingering in his chest.
As his gaze focused, the first thing he saw was...
A girl with pale lavender eyes, sitting quietly beside him.
Hinata.
Her head was lowered slightly, her delicate fingers resting on her lap as she anxiously watched over him. Her expression, filled with worry and quiet relief, softened the moment Naruto's sleepy blue eyes met hers.
"Hinata...?" Naruto's voice came out hoarse and weak, breaking the silence between them.
Hinata's eyes widened in surprise, her face instantly turning crimson. She quickly straightened her posture, her hands trembling slightly as she struggled to respond.
"N-Naruto-kun! Y-You're finally awake!" she stuttered, her voice filled with genuine relief and joy.
Naruto blinked, still trying to process the situation. His mind flashed back to the brutal battle on the bridge, to Haku's sacrifice, and that strange surge of power that flowed through him when he struck Gato.
But more than anything, he remembered...
Haku's final smile.
And the warmth he felt before falling into unconsciousness.
"...How long was I out?" Naruto asked weakly, attempting to sit up but feeling his body ache all over.
"F-For nearly two days," Hinata replied softly, her eyes never leaving him. "You... You scared us all, Naruto-kun."
Naruto's heart skipped a beat as he noticed the deep concern in her eyes. For the first time, he felt...
Someone truly cared for him.
For a moment, the room fell into an awkward silence. The faint sound of laughter from the villagers outside echoed in the distance, yet within the small room, the two remained in their own world.
Hinata nervously fiddled with her fingers, her heart pounding uncontrollably as she realized how close she was to Naruto.
Meanwhile, Naruto, who was usually dense about such things, found himself strangely flustered under her gentle gaze.
"Um... Thanks for staying with me, Hinata," Naruto said with a faint smile.
Hinata's face turned an even deeper shade of red as she quickly shook her head. "N-No! I... I wanted to... I mean... I-I was worried about you, Naruto-kun..."
Her voice became quieter with each word, almost like a whisper carried away by the breeze.
Naruto's eyes softened as he watched her. For the first time, he saw something in Hinata that he had never noticed before...
A kindness that reached straight into his lonely heart.
Suddenly, Hinata stood up in a panic, her hands tightly gripping the edge of her sleeves.
"I-I'll go... get some food for you! Y-You must be hungry!" she blurted out, bowing slightly before quickly rushing toward the door.
Naruto blinked, stunned by her sudden departure.
As she hurried out, Naruto couldn't help but stare at the door for a long moment, his heart beating strangely faster than usual.
"Hinata... huh...?" he muttered under his breath.
A faint smile unconsciously formed on his lips.
Outside the house, the villagers were already preparing for their final farewell to Team 7. The bridge had been completed, and the village had finally been freed from Gato's tyranny.
However, within Naruto's heart, something far more subtle and unfamiliar had awakened...
A feeling he couldn't yet understand.
But deep down...
He knew he would never forget the girl who silently stayed by his side when no one else did.
The journey back to Konoha was peaceful, yet within Naruto's mind, there was an unsettling storm brewing. The faint sunlight filtered through the trees, casting soft shadows on the dirt path beneath their feet. The air carried the scent of earth and morning dew, and the occasional distant laughter of villagers echoed through the market roads they passed.
Naruto silently walked behind the group, his head slightly lowered, lost in thought.
The world... felt different.
He could hear the distant hammering from a blacksmith's forge several streets away. The quiet murmurs of merchants haggling with customers echoed clearly in his ears. Even the faint chakra lingering in the soil from a battle fought days ago... he could see it.
It was as if his senses had broken through some invisible barrier, allowing him to perceive things that no ordinary shinobi should.
"Oi, Naruto, what's with that blank face?" Kiba's voice interrupted his thoughts. "Still dreaming about becoming Hokage or something?"
"Shut up, Kiba," Naruto muttered without even glancing at him.
Kiba frowned but didn't push further. However, Hinata, walking silently beside them, stole a quiet glance at Naruto's face.
His eyes...
They weren't the usual bright and naive blue she was used to seeing. There was something deeper, something darker... as if he was seeing far beyond what others could.
Her heart clenched with worry, but she didn't dare speak.
The group eventually passed through a small village where Hinata's team, led by Kurenai-sensei, had previously completed a scouting mission.
Naruto's steps slowed as his sharp eyes caught faint traces on the ground—disturbed earth, old footprints, and... chakra residue.
The traces of battle... were still there.
"How... can I see this?" Naruto mumbled unconsciously.
Shino, who rarely spoke, adjusted his glasses and glanced at Naruto. "You can sense residual chakra from days ago? That's not something a Genin should be capable of."
Naruto flinched.
Kurenai's gaze shifted slightly toward him, but she remained silent, sensing something strange yet choosing not to pry.
Kakashi, walking ahead, gave a brief glance from the corner of his eye but said nothing.
As the group continued through the forest, Naruto's senses only became sharper.
He noticed the faint presence of hidden animals within the trees. The subtle tension in the air whenever someone's chakra fluctuated. Even the quiet breathing patterns of those around him...
It was overwhelming.
'What... is happening to me?' Naruto clenched his fists.
However, among everyone...
Only Hinata noticed how Naruto's hand trembled slightly.
She lowered her head and bit her lip nervously.
'Naruto-kun... you're changing... and no one else sees it but me...'
The journey continued, and the group eventually reached the edge of the Land of Fire.
Naruto's mind, however, was far from the destination.
He couldn't shake off the strange sensation that something inside him had awakened...
