Chapter 13: Mangekyo Shouldn't be Forced

"So, there's really no other way?"

Uchiha Ken asked, his voice heavy with frustration.

He had thought he was making progress, that the clan was finally heading in the right direction.

But no.

This was not the outcome he wanted.

For over a year, he'd frequently talked with Kira, his son. Through these conversations, he came to understand that if the Uchiha clan ever hoped to escape its awkward position in the village—or even dream of producing an Uchiha Hokage—changing the clan's reputation was a critical first step.

And now, that step seemed impossible to take.

"Yup!"

Kira, shoveling another bite of food into his mouth, nodded. "There's no easy solution right now. My only advice is to focus on building up our strength, both individually and as a clan.

"Keep your head down while you do it, though. Don't reveal too much, or they'll just target us again.

"When the time comes and our strength is undeniable, we'll lay everything out for the Konoha higher-ups and reason with them.

"And if reasoning doesn't work… well, we'll teach them physics instead."

Kira smirked, casually adding, "At that point, fists do all the talking.

"When you have overwhelming power, all their little schemes and tricks crumble like dust.

"So, Dad, Big Bro, step it up! Start training seriously and work on leveling up your skills.

"My goal for you both? Hit Kage-level strength in three years."

"That's a small target—totally doable, right?"

Technically, there were other strategies we could use. But those involved playing long, tedious games of deception and back-and-forth maneuvering with Danzo, the Third Hokage, and the rest of Konoha's leadership.

That approach would require total unity within the Uchiha clan and no deadweight pulling them down.

In this world, where personal strength reigns supreme, Kira had no interest in such time-consuming games.

Why bother? When you're strong enough, you don't have to follow their rules. You can just flip the table and rewrite the rules yourself.

Rules exist to constrain the weak. The strong follow them only if they feel like it. When they stop caring, those rules vanish in an instant.

Uchiha Ken: "....."

Uchiha Hiro: "..."

Both stared at Kira, dumbfounded. Finally, they both asked in unison: "Are you serious? You're calling Kage-level a 'small target'?"

"Why not?"

Kira rolled his eyes. "Dad, you're already at the peak of elite Jonin. After training with the Spirit Method this past year and using those youth-strengthening herbal baths, you're practically at pseudo-Kage level already.

"Your Sharingan's ocular power is about 50% stronger than a typical three-tomoe. You're just one breakthrough away from evolving it into a Mangekyo Sharingan.

"So tell me—does hitting Kage-level really sound so hard for you? I'm not even pushing for one year; I'm giving you three. That's Generous."

"Hahaha!"

Ken couldn't help but laugh. "You've got a sharp eye, Kira! Nothing gets past you, huh? You're right—if things keep going like this, I think I can hit Kage-level within a year."

His inability to break through before wasn't due to a lack of skill or talent. It was his chakra reserves—or rather, his Sharingan holding him back.

The three-tomoe Sharingan, for all its power, had its limits. It couldn't facilitate the necessary chakra transformation to reach Kage-level.

This wasn't unique to him; countless Uchiha throughout history had been stuck in the same rut.

But with the Spirit Meditation Method improving his mental and physical strength, he was finally closing in on that breakthrough.

Kira then turned to his older brother. "And you, Big Bro—this is your golden age for improving strength. With those strengthening herbs and the Spirit Refinement Method, if you can't reach Kage-level in three years, I'll seriously question whether you're hopelessly dumb."

Even Mikoto, who was about the same age as Hiro, had already awakened her three-tomoe Sharingan after a year of training. Hiro had no excuses.

Ken and Mika exchanged glances, then turned their eyes on Hiro, their expressions loaded with unspoken expectations.

Uchiha Hiro: "..."

"Fine, fine! I'll give it my best!" Hiro raised his hands in surrender, already feeling the weight of their expectations pressing down on him.

He sighed inwardly, knowing his days of leisure were over.

Still, he thought to himself, growing stronger isn't so bad. If I get stronger, I can protect my little brother when the trouble he attracts inevitably comes his way.

With Kira's ridiculous genius, there was no doubt in Hiro's mind that his brother's future would be full of challenges. As the elder brother, it was his duty to shield him from harm.

Seeing Hiro finally rise to the occasion, Kira grinned. Good. Big Bro is finally starting to act like he has some potential.

He pulled out a scroll and handed it to Hiro. "Here. This is a new basic body-strengthening technique method I just finished developing.

"Practice with this. It'll significantly speed up your physical training, improve your constitution, and help you absorb the herbal baths more effectively.

"Don't let me down, okay?"

Then, he turned to his parents. "Dad, Mom, you should practice it too. Ask Big Bro for the scroll later. It'll really help. Don't forget!"

Even his mom, who had only been at the two-tomoe level a year ago, had advanced to three-tomoe and reached Jonin-level strength thanks to the training methods and herbs.

They were all worth investing in. In a few years, they'd all be powerful allies at Kage-level.

"Oh? A body-strengthening secret art? Sounds good!"

Ken and Mika's eyes lit up, and they both eagerly agreed. Any method to enhance their strength was a welcome addition.

"By the way, son—do you have any ideas about advancing from the three-tomoe to the Mangekyo Sharingan?"

Ken asked, with curiosity. If he could evolve his Sharingan, breaking through to Kage-level would be a piece of cake.

Mikoto and Hiro also turned their attention to Kira, their eyes full of hope.

Kira sighed, shaking his head. "It's not that simple. I haven't even awakened my Sharingan yet.

"Once I do, I might have some ideas. But for now, I'll just say this—I don't recommend going down the same path as our ancestors.

"Forcing a Mangekyo awakening through extreme emotional trauma has too many flaws.

"It messes with your mental state, makes you unstable, and it limits your potential to evolve into an Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan.

"Plus, a Mangekyo awakened that way is weaker compared to one achieved naturally."

Even Ōtsutsuki Hagoromo and Ōtsutsuki Indra proved that the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan could be awakened without such drastic methods, as long as the conditions were right.
