Chapter 8: Chapter 8 : Easy mission

Kirito thought of closing the shop, but then—ding!—another ominous little "i" appeared. His eye twitched.

"Oh no. Not again," he muttered.

But despite knowing better, despite his very soul screaming at him to ignore it, his curious fingers betrayed him. He clicked.

A familiar sense of deja vu washed over him, and—of course—another flashy pop-up ad exploded onto the screen:

[Hey, young man! Yes, you again! Do you think you have some ancient ninja progenitor blood mixed in your veins? Do you long for a perfect body—undying, unaging—just like your great forebearers? Yes, the very progenitor! Think about it! Nearly infinite chakra! A godly physique!!! Then look no further! Presenting… The Advanced Bloodline Pill! Even if your bloodline dilution is at a pathetic PPM (Parts Per Million), this miraculous pill will restore you to your peak ancestral might! And the best part? It's ON SALE just because you're lucky enough to be born in the same world as the ninja progenitor! Grab it now for the bargain price of… ONLY 10 MILLION SP!]

Kirito's mouth watered as he read the first few lines. He could already picture himself standing atop a mountain, his long, flowing cloak billowing in the wind as he gazed down at the world as a Otsutsuki , as mere mortals below gazed up at him in awe and terror. Wait a minute do I sound chinese may e read to many wuixa novels whatever..

"Immortal… unaging… godly body… Nearly infinite chakra?!" He wiped away a dramatic tear. "So this is what it means to be chosen by fate…"

Then, his eyes finally landed on the price.

10 Million SP.

SPURT!

Kirito coughed up blood like a dying protagonist in a tragic anime finale. "WTF!!!WHY?! WHY DOES EVERYTHING GOOD IN LIFE REQUIRE ME TO SELL MY SOUL?! NO !! MAYBE MY SOUL IS NOT WORTH THAT MUCH"

Falling to his knees, he clutched his chest like a man who had just received his medical bill in a world without insurance.

"10 million?! For that price, I could buy an entire village, bribe the Hokage, and still have enough left over to fund an evil organization for ages! What kind of scam is this?!"

He started muttering dark jokes under his breath. "Maybe if I sell konoha… no, wait, who will buy it. Maybe I can fake my own death and rob my own funeral donations…but that would be in ryo can ryo be converted in sp?"

Glaring at the ad like it had personally insulted his ancestors, Kirito growled, "This sinister merchant… This isn't a shop. This is daylight robbery with extra steps!"

He reached for the close button—but the moment his finger was about to tap it, another pop-up appeared.

[Wait! Young man Are you hesitating because of the price? Worry not! We have an installment plan! Pay just 5 MILLION SP per month for 2 months!]

Kirito's hand froze mid-air.

His lips parted slightly.

"Oh… an installment plan? That's actually—WAIT A DAMN MINUTE!" He read next line. "FIVE MILLION SP a month?! What do I look like? A tax-evading billionaire from the Land of Fire?!"

His finger hit the close button so hard, the entire screen flickered as if the system itself had been slapped.

He slammed the window shut before the shop could tempt him any further.

At this point, it wasn't about bloodlines anymore.

It was about survival.

And if he wanted to have any chance of affording something useful in the future, he needed to do what all broke protagonists did best.

Grind.

After closing the shop, Kirito checked the time—it was 3 in the afternoon. More than three hours left before sunset.

He cracked his knuckles. "Alright, time to meet that blonde. Yes, the very well-known, future Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze."

Dramatic wind swept through his tiny room (despite the windows being closed). He could almost hear an intense orchestral soundtrack playing in the background. This was it. His moment. He was about to meet one of the legends of this world.

He had already seen Minato once before, during the Root selection. He knew Minato lived in this orphanage as well. With determination, Kirito dramatically stepped out of his room, looked left, looked right—then promptly realized he had no idea where Minato actually was.

After an embarrassingly long search (which involved nearly walking into a broom closet), he finally spotted the blonde outside, diligently practicing by throwing wooden kunai at a stump in the garden.

Kirito watched him for a moment, impressed. "Still diligent, even at five years old..." he muttered. Then, rubbing his chin, he pondered how best to start a conversation. Should he be casual? Mysterious? Dramatic?

In the end, he settled on a classic approach—just walking up and saying something.

But just as he took his first step forward, a familiar ding echoed in his mind. A mission window appeared before him.

Mission:

Objective: Become friends with Minato Namikaze

Reward: 1000 Ryo and +1 to all stat attributes

Failure: No punishment

Kirito's grin widened. "No punishment for failure? Finally, a mission that doesn't threaten my well-being! This is the kind of side quest I like."

Filled with newfound confidence, he strode toward Minato.

Reaching a comfortable distance, he called out, "Hey! What are you doing?"

Minato turned to him with his signature sunny smile, the kind that could probably melt even the coldest of hearts. "I'm practicing throwing for the ninja academy exam."

Kirito raised an eyebrow. "Academy exam?" He hadn't heard about this.

Minato nodded, still smiling. "When everyone was sad about not being selected by the elders, one of the caretakers told us not to worry. There's going to be an academy exam in two months."

Kirito processed this information, rubbing his chin. "Huh. good thing there is still two months. Well, that's good to know." kirito muttered
