Naruto: Reborn as Uchiha Obito

Chapter 34: No One’s Saving You. So I Did.

"So, try to get stronger."

"Got it, I don't need you to say it."

Yugao Uzuki shot back with her usual stiff pride.

Obito gave her a glance up and down, then spoke with a satisfied nod.

"Then, your first phase of training is over."

"...It's over?"

Yugao blinked, momentarily stunned.

"It's over," Obito confirmed. "Of course, it's just the first stage. Once you can completely suppress your murderous aura, then we'll begin the second stage."

Over the past month, Yugao had taken out hundreds of bandits and thugs, evolving from hesitant to hardened to numb.

Now, she carried herself with a quiet edge and that edge bled killing intent.

The problem? That murderous aura, while still faint, made her light up like a damn bonfire to anyone with decent perception. Not ideal for sneaking around.

Which meant the next step? Learning how to bury that aura so deep, even a Hyuga would squint.

Which meant it was time to teach her how to hide it.

"Got it," Yugao gave a firm nod.

And just like that, their training trip hit pause.

But since they were already in the Land of Grass, well... would it really be Obito if he didn't make a small detour before heading back?

So with that in mind, he pulled Yugao into the Kamui space and slipped quietly into Hidden Grass Village.

By then, night had fallen.

In a quiet corner of the village, a red-haired young woman leaned against a wall as she exited the hospital, body covered in fading bite marks, her expression hollow, but her steps fast.

Halfway home, her eyes changed. Something was off.

Despite her exhaustion, she broke into a run.

Soon, she reached the edge of Hidden Grass Village, staring at a small house lit by a distant candle inside. Her Mind's Eye of the Kagura had sensed something, someone foreign.

A large, unfamiliar chakra signature was inside her home.

She braced herself, inhaled deeply, and opened the door.

And there he was.

Inside, seated comfortably in a chair, was a black-robed masked man… casually bouncing a red-haired baby in his lap.

The baby squealed and grabbed the man's finger, giggling like she didn't have a care in the world.

"Babble… ah… hhh."

"Little Karin…"

Seeing her daughter alive and smiling, the woman let out a shaky breath of relief.

"Don't worry. She's cute... I like her," the masked man said with unsettling calm.

Then, he looked up. The red-haired woman froze.

Those eyes.

Blood-red Sharingan gleamed beneath the mask, twin tomoe spinning lazily like they had all the time in the world.

She'd been warned as a child, before their clan fled: Never trust Konoha. Never trust those eyes.

Her whole body tensed.

"Tch~ Your situation... honestly?" the masked man sighed, as if her existence gave him secondhand embarrassment.

"It's miserable."

"I know two other Uzumakis. They're not exactly living large, but compared to you? Yeah, you're definitely holding the L."

Her heart jumped. She tried to play dumb.

"What…? Uzumaki clan? My lord, you must be mistaken," she said, forcing calm into her voice.

Obito cocked his head slightly, voice dripping with amusement.

"Red hair. Big-ass chakra. Healing like a cockroach on steroids… yeah, I think I've got the clan right."

He smiled behind the mask.

"Relax. I'm not here to hurt you."

Of course, that only made her more nervous.

Not hurt her? Then...

"My lord… please," she said, voice trembling. "I don't care what happens to me. But if it's about my daughter... if you plan to hurt her... I'll do anything. Just... please don't touch her!"

She bowed low, body trembling, but her voice steady.

And the masked man just stood there…Menacingly.

After hearing the young woman's desperate plea, Obito just stood there... utterly deadpan.

Like, what the hell am I supposed to say here?

Should he go, "Madam, you don't want your daughter to…?" and then slide into a full hentai protagonist moment like this was some late-night doujin? Was that his cue?

'What the hell kind of setting is this?' Obito thought.

Do you really think I, Uchiha Obito, am the kind of man who'd take advantage of women in their most vulnerable state?

A long pause.

'Yes. Yes, I absolutely am that kind of man.'

But still, he cleared his throat, stood upright like a proper gentleman, and said seriously:

"Ahem. Madam… you don't want your daughter to grow up suffering the same shit you went through, do you?"

"My lord… you mean…?" the woman asked cautiously, clearly trying to read between the lines.

"Come with me," Obito said flatly.

"In the eyes of those Hidden Grass bastards, you're nothing but a walking chakra battery."

"And your daughter? She's just the replacement cartridge... your backup."

His voice turned colder as he looked at the fading bite marks littered across her body.

"If this keeps up, your life force will be sucked dry within a few years. When that happens, guess who's next?"

He nodded at the baby in his arms.

"Your daughter will become the next you."

The young woman's body trembled.

She knew deep down he wasn't lying.

She'd seen those greedy, twisted eyes from the men of Hidden Grass. The same ones that used to glance at her now occasionally flickered toward the crib.

She had needed shelter, yes. And this had been the price.

But now...

She took a shaky breath.

"My lord… If I come with you… what do you plan to do with us?"

Her voice was careful. Every syllable held the weight of fear... for herself, but more for the child in his arms.

Obito didn't hesitate.

"It's simple. You train, get healthy again, and help me manage things at the base. You've lost a lot of vitality but I'll fix that."

He then looked down at the red-haired baby who was still gripping his finger and smiling like they were best friends.

"And as for your daughter..."

The young woman flinched, staring at him like he held her entire universe in his hands.

""I'll raise her. I'll train her. I'll give her the strength to never, ever become a victim like you."

"She'll be my subordinate, yes. She'll fight for me, carry the Uzumaki legacy, and I'll put her abilities to use."

He paused for a moment, then added with a softer tone:

"But I won't use her like Hidden Grass did you. She won't be some tool for chakra farming. She'll grow up with power, freedom, and most importantly... she'll have you by her side."

"You'll both be taken care of."

The woman let out a long breath...part relief, part disbelief and nodded slowly.

Then, her voice came again, quieter this time:

"My lord… may I ask... who are you?"

She hesitated, her eyes rose up, not quite meeting his directly, but close enough.

Obito tilted his head.

Ah. So that's how it is.

She's Uzumaki. And like most survivors of the clan, she'd never trusted Konoha again.

Not after what happened to their country. Not after how the Leaf conveniently "forgot" to step in.

Except Kushina.

They still remembered.

And this one? She wasn't trusting any Leaf shinobi so easily.

Obito chuckled inwardly.

"Relax. I'm not a Konoha ninja anymore."

Madara, your name really comes in clutch at moments like this.

With just the right dramatic flair, he said:

"My name… is Madara Uchiha."
