Chapter 36: Murasaki
Well, first, make a ninja sword as an experiment.
This month's killing spree had left Yugao Uzuki's ninja sword scrapped several times, though to be fair, they were just some ordinary pieces of crap.
But now, she really lacked a good sword.
Obito took out a pile of fine iron and chakra metal from the Kamui space and threw them into the Devouring Coffin one by one.
Then he started the process.
As time passed, a week later, Obito finally came out, still alive and in his hand was a purple ninja sword with a sheath.
Looking at the sword in his hand, Obito sighed. For him, this experiment was a failure.
Because when he tried to make the sword mixed with natural energy to create a special type of artifact sword, it didn't work how he had intended..
Obito figured it was probably because natural energy in this ninja world doesn't affect materials the same way it affects the living.
Helplessly, Obito had no choice but to refer to the Seven Ninja Swords of the Mist and make a sword with some special abilities.
Subsequently, Obito went to the kitchen of the base and found Yugao Uzuki.
At this time, she was cooking with Chihori, and in the cradle outside the kitchen, little Karin was sleeping soundly.
"Ah, you're out. I thought you were dead in there!"
The moment she saw Obito walk in, Yugao Uzuki exclaimed.
She probably didn't even notice it herself, but when she saw Obito again after so many days, her tone was a little cheerful.
"Madara-sama!"
Chihori on the side saluted respectfully.
Seeing this, Obito waved his hand.
"In the future, when there are no outsiders, no need to be so polite."
"Yes, Madara-sama."
Then Obito raised his hand and handed the ninja sword to Yugao.
"This sword is…"
She looked at the purple scabbard, the blade, and the white-and-purple hilt, her eyes instantly showing a hint of love.
"Your previous sword was broken, and your birthday was last month. So consider this a late birthday gift."
Shling~
The blade slowly unsheathed, and the light of the sword like a white ribbon... reflected across Yugao's face.
"What an amazing-looking sword!"
Looking at the gleaming edge, Yugao Uzuki couldn't help but admire it.
"That's for sure. After all, I'm the one who made it."
"You made this sword yourself?"
She looked genuinely surprised.
"Of course."
"Thanks, I love it!"
With a smile, she slid the sword back into the sheath and held it in her arms.
"I made this sword according to the size of an adult. The blade is 80 centimeters long. You'll need to get familiar with it."
"Moreover, it's a ninja sword with special abilities. I'll teach you how to use it later."
"I see. By the way... does it have a name?"
"Name, huh…"
Obito paused, thought for a moment, then replied,
"Let's call it Purple Moon (Murasaki no Tsuki)."
The sword was forged from refined iron, then enhanced with chakra metal. Chakra passed through it very smoothly.
He also carved three basic magic circles into it: Sharpness, Tenacity, and Defense making it a low-level artifact at best.
Not because he didn't want to add more, but because this low quality iron couldn't handle more enchantments without breaking.
Among them, "sharpness" and "tenacity" didn't need much explanation.
And the "defense" circle, as the name suggests, was used for protection.
When activated, a layer of chakra armor would form around the wielder's body.
The defense of this chakra armor wasn't bad he had personally tested it. Before the chakra ran out, it was more than enough to block Jutsus like Chidori or Rasengan.
"Purple Moon, nice name!"
Looking at the smiling girl in front of him, Obito fell into deep thought.
He hadn't noticed before, but it wasn't until just now that he realized... this little girl's attitude towards him had changed.
In the past, she was full of resentment. Either she was cussing him out or ignoring him.
Never even a smile, let alone a "thank you."
And today?
And today? She actually greeted him with a smile. There was warmth in her tone.
And the most shocking part...she actually thanked him.
When did it start to change?
Was it during that month they traveled around the ninja world?
Or was it in the days afterward, when he was making the sword?
Why did it change?
Was it because she'd finally seen the cruelty of the ninja world firsthand?
Or because her faith in Konoha had collapsed?
Or maybe… just maybe… because of the birthday gift?
Obito didn't know.
Sure enough, even now, he still couldn't figure out a girl's heart.
Truly, the hardest jutsu in this world is understanding a woman's intentions… and their brain process.
Later, after Yugao learned how to control her murderous aura, Obito began guiding her through the second stage of training.
Swordsmanship, taijutsu, ninjutsu, genjutsu, Obito trained her in all of them.
And just like that, more than a year passed.
In the past year or so, Obito had not only been dryly training Yugao Uzuki.
He also took her to the underground gold exchange house from time to time to pick up missions, letting her complete them and go head-to-head with enemy ninjas.
She gained experience and improved in all aspects of tracking, stealth, raiding, assassination, and direct combat especially in terms of speed and ambush.
After all, she's still young, her body hasn't fully developed, she's a woman, and she hasn't learned the skill of super strength so brute force is definitely not her advantage.
As a result, Obito focused her training around speed and agility, molding her into a high-speed assassin meant to finish fights in a single decisive strike.
Under that high-intensity training, Yugao Uzuki began to grow rapidly.
During this time, Obito wasn't just playing the role of her trainer he was also rapidly digesting knowledge on all fronts.
Ninjutsu, forbidden techniques, sealing arts, medical treatment, biology you name it. With the mountain of books looted from both Konoha and the Mist Village, Obito absorbed knowledge like a damn sponge.
On top of that, he would occasionally drop by the Rain Village just to show his face in front of Nagato... and tease Konan while he was at it.
But what he didn't know… was that Konan seemed to have developed some kind of grudge against him lately.
She tried to kiss him on the neck that one time… then suddenly stopped, shoved him away, and called him a bastard who plays with women's hearts.
(Which, to be fair… she wasn't entirely wrong.)
He'd check on Akatsuki's progress while he was there too. Business mixed with drama.
And of course, he didn't forget to pay visits to his dear Sensei's lonely wife...
He'd occasionally stop by to "comfort her heart" and only leaving after filling her heart and her body with warmth.
At the same time, in the ninja world, the war between Cloud Hidden Village and Konoha Village was still in full swing.
After Jiraiya's arrival, Konoha successfully withstood Cloud Shinobi's assault, drove them out of the Fire Country, and pushed the battlefield back to the Land of Lightning.
In addition, barely a year had passed since the last truce between the other ninja villages, and already another conflict had flared up between Sand Village and Rock Village.
The cause? Some small-ass country stuck between them had sparked a fight over mineral rights.
Although it wasn't a full-blown war like the Cloud-Konoha mess, all kinds of skirmishes had started popping up nonstop.
