Naruto: Reincarnated Senju Prodigy With Mokuton

Chapter 22

"Let's expose Danzou today and prevent the Uchiha clan conflict once and for all."

Shisui's words carried immense weight, and everyone gathered there could feel it.

Whatever happened that night would define Konoha's future forever.

This time, I was more confident than ever. All the training with Itachi had made me stronger, and I knew it would be enough to fight my opponents.

So we headed to the Root headquarters, where we would confront Danzou.

Every second that passed felt like an eternity, and the journey seemed longer than usual.

When we arrived in front of the base of operations, following the plan, I made hand seals and touched the ground.

"Mokuton: Sensory Technique."

Roots spread beneath the ground, covering almost the entire ANBU base. I began to sense the chakra of my companions and the ninjas inside.

"I can sense five patrols. One group is at the entrance, the others are scattered through different rooms. There are two rooms I can't detect anything from, and one group is heading toward one of those rooms. Danzou may be among them," I said, eyes closed.

I opened my eyes again, and all my companions nodded. Kakashi had already explained that some rooms were protected against chakra sensors to prevent espionage and data leaks.

So Kakashi and Itachi were the first to act. Kakashi distracted the ANBU guarding the door, while Itachi placed them under a genjutsu, making them fall into a deep sleep.

When we entered, it was my turn to deal with the other ANBU at the entrance.

Before they could react, I quickly and silently summoned branches and vines that wrapped around and immobilized them.

We moved forward, and from time to time, I checked the ground again with my sensory technique to avoid unnecessary conflict.

Kakashi guided us through the base as fast as he could. When we reached a corridor that appeared to be a dead end, he stopped and turned to us.

"We're going into Danzou's room now. A confrontation is almost certain, but let's stay focused on our objective. I don't want to fight more than necessary," he said.

At that moment, time froze around me, and the system screen appeared in front of me.

[You are at a point of no return.]

[From this moment on, all your actions will carry enormous consequences.]

[Be careful.]

'What? The system has never acted like this before.'

I tensed as I read those words. This was the turning point of the conflict — I couldn't let anything go wrong. I took a deep breath, and after everyone signaled readiness, Kakashi performed hand seals that revealed a secret passage into the Root.

Upon entering the vast room ahead, the air turned considerably colder, and the silence was broken only by Danzou, who was speaking softly with one of the ANBU present.

Noticing our arrival, he stopped and looked at us with a serious expression.

"You arrived faster than I expected," he said, his voice calm.

That man exuded an unsettling confidence in every word he spoke, as if he already knew everything that would happen. Always one step ahead. But this time would be different.

After Danzou said those words, the door Kakashi had opened slammed shut and was sealed by two ANBU who appeared behind us.

"We're surrounded. How did he know about our plan?" Before I could even think of an answer, Danzou continued speaking.

"Every step you take, orchestrating a plan to prevent the natural order of things. You are planning a coup, and you will pay for it."

"The only one planning a coup here is you, Danzou. You're the traitor," I said, drawing his gaze to me.

"You see betrayal, I see sacrifice. The Leaf prospers thanks to the shadows you fear to face," he said, and then nodded to his ANBU, who immediately charged toward us to kill us.

[Combat Initiated.]

[Survive.]

We all prepared as quickly as we could, and then we began to fight those ninjas.

One of them came at me with a tantō. I dodged his first series of attacks with relative ease, vividly recalling my training with Itachi and his superior kenjutsu tactics.

I didn't hold back in combat, quickly creating two moku bunshin, one of which went to assist Renji, while the other stayed with me. My clone advanced toward the ANBU, delivering several attacks while parrying blows at the same time.

Taking advantage of the distraction I had created, I made hand seals and said:

"Mokuton: Birth of the World of Trees!"

The room shook — and surely, some of the people in that room shook along with it—as trees began to grow, transforming the battlefield into a massive forest. The ANBU who was fighting me was soon captured by roots that immobilized him completely.

[You defeated an ANBU! +200 EXP]

[The terrain has been altered.]

[The cost of your >Mokuton< techniques has been drastically reduced.]

The chakra I used to perform this enhanced version of my technique was high, but it was offset by the technique's versatility.

The terrain was now favorable to me, and I commanded the battlefield.

I set out to help my companions, who were still adjusting to the new terrain. On the way, it was impossible not to notice the huge fireballs that Itachi was throwing while he and Shisui fought against Danzou. But first, I needed to help Renji, who, despite holding his own, was outnumbered.

He was fighting three ANBU with only one of my clones aiding him.

Renji had an affinity for fuuton chakra, and he used this element to enhance his speed and the cut of his blade — techniques he had learned from Shisui and our sensei, Tetsu.

[One of your clones has been destroyed.]

That was the message I received seconds before arriving at the battle with a dramatic entrance.

Jumping from one of the trees, I surprised one of the ANBU when I used my jutsu:

"Doton: Stone Skin!"

My skin hardened, and I dropped from the tree with a well-aimed punch to the ANBU's face. His mask shattered, and he collapsed unconscious.

[You defeated an ANBU! +100 EXP]

"Thanks," Renji replied succinctly as he returned to fighting the two remaining ninjas.

He managed to make a side cut in the chest of one of the ninjas and kicked him away—rendering him unconscious as well.

Taking advantage of the gap in the guard of the remaining ANBU, I attacked with three wooden logs that sprouted from my right arm.

"Mokuton: Great Forest Technique!"

[You defeated an ANBU! +100 EXP]

"Renji, can you still fight?" I asked, noticing the numerous cuts across his body.

He took a deep breath before answering.

"Of course I can. I can't give up that easily."

"Try handling the ANBU with Kakashi, then. I'll help Itachi and Shisui," I said.

And then I started running toward the explosions of flames in the middle of the forest I had created.

Soon, I would face Danzou on the battlefield for the first time.

"This is where you lose, Danzou."
