Chapter 21
That white-haired ninja in ANBU clothing stepped into the room, as if he had been waiting for the perfect moment.
It was Kakashi Hatake, the ninja who copies, the only user of the Sharingan outside the Uchiha clan. Besides, of course, Danzou himself, who had obtained his Sharingan through improper means.
"Kakashi Hatake," said Hiruzen, the moment the ninja appeared beside him.
I was surprised; there were still many extremely powerful ninjas in the village whom I had not yet met. So it was interesting to learn that he would be helping us with the mission.

'Fighting alongside him will be a good advantage. If Danzou has time to react and use his Sharingans, we'll be in big trouble,' I thought.
"If we need to engage in combat, will he help us?" I asked Hiruzen, pointing at Kakashi, who had remained silent the whole time.
"In the worst-case scenario, yes, he will help you. But let's hope that doesn't happen, okay? I'm counting on the success of the mission, so prove your point to me." The Hokage said, looking a little more tense.
Shisui was the one who told Kakashi the plan. The two seemed to have known each other for a long time, perhaps because they were both members of ANBU, or for reasons I didn't know.
Anyway, we left together with another member for the plan, and now we were getting closer and closer to ending Danzou's schemes.
Shisui and Kakashi took a different path, while I stopped by Ichiraku Ramen to eat. When I entered, I ordered my usual.
"Ramen with wasabi, please."
I must confess, I was very tense about the situation — and how could I not be? I was finally completing my first big mission, I had met extremely powerful ninjas in the meantime, and it could all end there if I made a mistake or wasn't strong enough to fight.
I was confident in my abilities, but I knew it wouldn't be easy.
The ramen finally arrived, and as I ate, thoughts kept flowing through my mind. I was only interrupted when Renji approached the place as well.
He touched my shoulder, and I jumped slightly in surprise.
"Ah!... ahem, Renji, what's up?" I said, recovering.
"Riku. How are you? Ready?" He seemed tense. He was talking the same way he usually did during the training sessions we had together.
"I'm just a little thoughtful, but always ready," I said, trying to sound confident.
"Everything will be fine, you'll see."
I ate some more ramen and drank some broth after saying those words, hoping to calm him down a little. If it was dangerous for me, imagine how it was for him. After all, even though he was quite skilled, he didn't have a system to help him.
'Maybe I'm underestimating him... I've never seen how much he's evolved since we met.'

'He's strong... And he hasn't even awakened his Sharingan yet.'
"I hope everything goes well..." he commented, waiting for the dish he had ordered to arrive.
I told him about the progress of the plan and how Kakashi would now help us. He seemed a little more excited after that. After all, Kakashi was an extremely skilled ninja, and the Uchihas had certainly heard of him.
We decided to go to the hideout together and wait until we could finally take action. On the way, Renji seemed to want to talk to me several times, but he always gave up, so I tried to talk to him.
"Is something bothering you?"
"No... Remember the night you met Shisui? While we were still at Ichiraku, I told you that you could use your abilities to become a pillar of the village."
"Oh, that? Yeah, I remember." I said, scratching my head.
"I meant it. You have Mokuton and the Senju name. If you wanted, you could become Hokage..."
"I know, but like I said, I don't really think much about the distant future. My goal right now is just to get stronger and support you guys. I'll think about the rest later."
'Become Hokage, huh? I'm not sure I have what it takes.' I crossed my arms as I thought about the idea.
We remained silent after that interaction. Renji saw me as someone with potential, but becoming Hokage seemed like a huge responsibility, especially after seeing the piles of paperwork Hiruzen had to deal with.
Then we finally arrived at the abandoned temple. The place was empty, so we talked for a while until Itachi arrived. He was wearing his ANBU uniform and had brought two more uniforms from the organization with him.
"I'm glad you're here. I brought the uniforms," said Itachi as he walked toward us to hand them over.
We took the uniforms, but I noticed the masks were missing.
"Where are the masks?" I asked.
"You'll have to make them yourself. I only have access to my own mask," Itachi said in his usual calm tone.
"Me?! But I don't even know if I can do that... My strength is in jutsu, not crafting," I said, sliding down onto the bench.
Itachi shook his head.
"No excuses, Riku. Nothing can go wrong today. You can do it."
"Alright... but if anything goes wrong, just know it's completely your fault, not mine," I said as I prepared to try making the masks.
I stayed there for a while, creating and destroying masks several times, until I finally got a result that pleased both me and Renji.
"Aha! This one's it. I think this one turned out well." I said, looking at Renji.
He examined the masks for a few moments — mine looked like a fox, while his resembled a lazy cat.
"Are you sure these will work?" he asked, giving me a skeptical look.
"They're fine," Itachi said before I could reply.
I nodded, and shortly after, Shisui and Kakashi arrived. They had to take care of a few things before we could enter the ANBU hideout, so no one would find the presence of two new members suspicious.
As we talked, I noticed Itachi showed an unusual level of respect for Kakashi, always calling him "senpai."
I remembered Kakashi had once led Itachi's ANBU squad, but it was still strange to hear him use that term.
"Alright, it's time," Shisui said.
A chill ran down my spine, and I felt butterflies fluttering in my stomach from the anxiety.
"Today, we unmask Danzou and stop the Uchiha conflict once and for all."
