Naruto The Thunder Calamity

Chapter 327: Chapter 327: Ideals and Reality

In the early morning, Raijin rested his chin on his hands, leaning on the balcony, quietly watching Tsunade water the flowers outside.

Honestly, he hadn't expected that after they left, Tsunade wouldn't go traveling to different nations.

Instead, she chose to live in a simple, unremarkable little village.

"What are you looking at?"

Putting away the watering can, Tsunade turned around and saw Raijin staring at her. She took a couple of steps forward and stood in front of him.

"I thought the first place you'd want to go was a casino."

Raijin said softly as he looked at Tsunade.

"What? What's so fun about gambling? My grandpa's alive again."

Tsunade chuckled and replied.

"What's the point of betting against those cheaters? If I wanted to gamble, wouldn't it be more fun to play with my grandpa?"

Her gaze shifted slightly to the window frame beside Raijin, and she spoke in a softer voice.

The reason she used to be so obsessed with casinos was simply because she wanted to relive the feeling of being with her grandfather when she was a child.

She just… never found it.

"That makes sense."

Raijin chuckled and nodded.

"Honestly, I think just living a simple, peaceful life together is enjoyable too."

Tsunade looked at Raijin and spoke softly.

Over the years, she had carried so much weight on her shoulders alongside Raijin.

As a child, there was the constant threat from other villages. As she grew older, she was forced to take part in war.

The war wasn't even over yet when the threat of Uchiha Madara emerged.

Before Madara's issue was resolved, Otsutsuki Isshiki appeared.

And just after dealing with Isshiki, an even stronger enemy showed up.

It was exhausting…

A life where she didn't have to think about anything or do anything—it used to feel like an impossible luxury.

So now, Tsunade was actually enjoying this kind of life.

"If you like it, then let's keep living like this."

Raijin smiled and turned to Mikoto.

"As for Otsutsuki…"

He didn't say this without thinking it through.

"Honestly, even if we can't stop them, we can at least protect ourselves."

"Hmph."

Tsunade let out a small snort and turned her back to Raijin, leaning against him.

"A different life only feels fresh at first."

"As time passes, it'll eventually become boring. So, stop saying things like that."

"Our friends, our family—they all live here, don't they?"

She turned back to face Raijin.

"Yeah."

Raijin nodded and said no more.

Sometimes, life just felt… dull.

It felt like living on this land meant constantly facing new enemies.

Maybe… death was the only real escape.

Raijin let out a soft chuckle, looked at the flowers in the courtyard basking in the sunlight, and shook his head.

…

"Are you really Hashirama? You can't even learn such a simple jutsu?"

In Konohagakure, at Madara's courtyard.

Watching Hashirama fail to form Truth-Seeking Orbs yet again, Madara frowned in disappointment.

"You know, you don't have to teach me."

Hashirama looked at Uchiha Madara, feeling a little helpless.

Honestly, he thought that if Madara just left him alone, he might actually learn it faster.

This guy… was way too annoying.

"With talent like yours, how did you ever manage to keep me suppressed?"

Madara sat on the steps, staring at Hashirama in disbelief.

"Maybe you're just dumber than me."

Hashirama shrugged innocently and looked at Uchiha Madara.

"…"

Madara pursed his lips, staring at Hashirama in silence.

…

Peaceful moments always seemed to pass too quickly.

In Konohagakure, it wasn't that obvious, though.

After all, Madara and Hashirama weren't exactly unknown—they were practically household names.

So aside from their usual bickering, there wasn't much else going on for them.

But for Raijin and Tsunade, it was a different story.

The ninja world wasn't as peaceful as it seemed.

This was still a world ruled by Daimyos.

Even with ninjas around, to be honest, if you ignored those with Mangekyou Sharingan or stronger,

most ninjas weren't actually as powerful as people imagined.

At the very least, they still needed to eat.

That was why ninjas took on missions.

Right now, while Konohagakure was undoubtedly the dominant force,

there were still many other nations and villages.

Which meant rogue ninjas and bandits still existed.

For rogue ninjas, aside from preying on regular people, they could also take jobs from underground bounty stations.

But after a large-scale operation by Konohagakure, most of those bounty stations were shut down.

Some people survived, but hardly anyone was posting jobs there anymore.

The real reason underground bounty stations lasted so long in the ninja world

was that they were the hidden villages' only way to control rogue ninjas on the run.

But now, with a giant like Konohagakure around, almost all the smaller villages had given up on using force to strengthen themselves.

Instead, they chose to stick together.

Amegakure's situation wasn't unique.

Whether for power or ideals, every village leader dreamed of replacing Konohagakure.

And as that idea spread, everyone turned to development instead of war.

That left rogue ninjas with nowhere to go.

So they set their sights on regular people.

After all, in this world, ordinary people were the easiest targets.

…

"Bang!"

It was evening, and Raijin and Tsunade were grilling meat in the courtyard.

Suddenly, the gate was kicked open.

Raijin paused for a moment, then looked toward the noise in surprise.

A rough-looking man stood there, probably in his late thirties or early forties.

He had a thick beard and carried a long blade in his hand.

"A bandit?"

Raijin blinked, staring at the man with a puzzled expression.

"Come out!"

The man snapped at Raijin impatiently.

"Bang!"

As soon as the man finished speaking, his body was sent flying.

The sound of bones breaking echoed faintly in the air.

"Do you even know who you're talking to?"

Raijin slowly stood up and walked toward the door.

Seriously, after living a peaceful life for so long, he had completely let down his guard.

At that moment, Raijin activated his mind's eye, instantly sensing the locations of the bandits who had broken into the village.

~~

...

"We only want money, not lives. Stay where you are, don't move, and you'll live. Otherwise... well, I can't guarantee anything."

A tall man, nearly two meters in height, stood in the village square, speaking to the kneeling villagers.

Meanwhile, his men were ransacking the village, taking anything valuable they could find.

Around the same time, the sky gradually darkened, though no one paid much attention.

They just assumed it was about to rain.

But then—

*Sizzle!*

Dozens of lightning bolts crashed down, leaving behind nothing but charred remains.

Raijin calmly walked back to the courtyard.

He never cared about showing off in front of others.

It was just a small act of gratitude, nothing more.

Consider it divine punishment.

"This probably isn't the only case like this, is it?"

Tsunade spoke softly as she watched Raijin return.

"Of course not."

Raijin sighed and shook his head.

This kind of thing was just like Madara and Hashirama's dream—an unsolvable problem.

"I kind of want to do something about it."

Tsunade looked at Raijin as he sat back down.

"You can't fix it."

Raijin shook his head.

"I don't understand why so many people insist on chasing things they know are impossible."

He let out a helpless sigh as he looked at Tsunade.

"You, Madara, Hashirama... Peace isn't achievable. And bandits? You'll never get rid of them either."

After a brief pause, he continued.

"Even if we have the power to suppress this entire world, you have to understand—violence can destroy enemies, but it can't erase human greed."

"If you truly want all of this to disappear, then honestly, Madara's Infinite Tsukuyomi plan isn't a bad idea."

"Trap everyone in a dream, letting them live the perfect life they desire. That would solve all your problems, wouldn't it?"

"I understand what you're saying. But even if everything is just a cycle, doesn't our effort at least make life better for the people of our time?"

Tsunade pursed her lips and looked at Raijin.

"Sure, I support you. If that's what you want, I think the way the Land of Whirlpools is run could be a good reference."

Raijin responded.

"Huh?"

Tsunade was taken aback.

She had expected Raijin to argue with her.

The last thing she thought he'd do was agree so easily.

"You're not even going to debate me on this?"

Curious, Tsunade asked directly.

"Why would I?"

Raijin shrugged, looking at her in confusion.

"I don't care how other people live because they're not important to me. Whether they struggle or prosper, it makes no difference to me."

"If you want to do it, I'll help you however I can."

Tsunade chuckled as she looked at Raijin.

"I feel like I'm really getting to know you for the first time today."

Honestly, what Raijin said wasn't exactly admirable.

But still, Tsunade didn't find him despicable at all.

After all, he was willing to put in the effort for her.

He was willing to consider her thoughts.

That was rare.

"Forget it. Thinking about it, it's kind of meaningless. From the Warring States period until now, countless Daimyo have come and gone. They have their own lives, and we have ours. There's no need to do something pointless."

Standing up, Tsunade looked at Raijin in front of her and spoke softly.

Tsunade suddenly remembered—she was very hard to kill.

That meant if the problem wasn't solved at its root...

Then she would inevitably witness this kind of scene again.

And when that time came, she might end up being the one hated.

After all, just like Raijin said, power could make people fear, but it wouldn't change their nature.

For some reason, Tsunade suddenly felt a sense of understanding toward Madara. If she thought about it this way, the Eye of the Moon Plan actually seemed like a pretty good idea.

"Maybe when material resources are abundant enough, the world really can change. If someone can get everything they need to survive without working too hard, why would they risk everything?"

Looking at Tsunade, Raijin spoke softly.

Raijin understood what she was thinking. Most people, deep down, had a desire to help others.

If Tsunade had such thoughts, he would try to come up with ways to support her.

After all, Tsunade was one of the closest people to him in this world.

"But no matter what, resources will never truly be enough. When someone is starving, their only wish is to have food. But once they have enough to eat, they'll start wanting other things."

Hearing this, Tsunade shook her head and responded to Raijin.

To be honest, at that moment, even she realized she was being a little naive. After all, human desires were never satisfied.

Just like herself—she had just freed herself from Konoha's affairs, and now she was already thinking about reshaping the world to fit her vision.

But if she really did that, would the world actually turn out the way she imagined? Probably not.

She hadn't even interfered in anyone's life yet, and her own desires were already surfacing.

Strangely, just moments ago, she had thought Raijin lacked awareness. But now, she realized—he actually saw things quite clearly.

"So, tell me what you think."

Looking at Tsunade, Raijin spoke softly.

Raijin had no intention of persuading Tsunade with words.

Words, at times, were meaningless.

Reality was often what truly changed people's minds.

So, no matter what Tsunade wanted to do, Raijin would choose to support her.
