Chapter 15: Chapter 15 The First Mission
"Why is Teacher Jiraiya late again?"
Kushina looked left and right but still couldn't find Jiraiya.
He was the one who set the meeting time for ten o'clock, yet he was nowhere to be seen.
Not only Jiraiya, but even Simu was late today.
Having waited in vain for half an hour, Kushina was starting to get impatient.
"That Simu… When he shows up, I'll definitely teach him a lesson!"
Namikaze Minato sat off to the side, his gaze fixed on his palm.
Five flame-like chakras danced in the air.
"Oh, I'm really sorry. Teacher Sarutobi called me over just now."
Jiraiya's voice rang out as he suddenly appeared in front of Kushina using the Body Flicker Technique.
Kushina, now fuming, put her hands on her hips and complained, "What's wrong with you? Why are you late every single time?!"
Jiraiya scratched his head awkwardly and held up a scroll.
"Didn't I go to the Third Hokage to get our mission?"
"Mission?"
Both Minato and Kushina immediately focused on the scroll in Jiraiya's hand.
It had only been a day since their team was officially formed, and they were already receiving a mission?
"Alright! Finally, we get to go on a mission!"
Kushina let out an excited cheer.
For her, becoming a ninja, going on missions, making a name for herself, and ultimately becoming Hokage—this was her dream.
Starting missions early meant getting closer to achieving that dream.
Unlike the carefree Kushina, Minato was more thoughtful.
"Isn't this a bit too soon, Teacher Jiraiya?"
"Our team was just formed yesterday. We don't even have proper teamwork yet..."
He voiced his concerns.
Even though he, Kushina, and Simu were familiar with each other, battle was a completely different matter from everyday life.
Understanding each other's combat styles and developing coordinated strategies were essential to completing missions efficiently and, most importantly, ensuring each other's safety.
Jiraiya gave Minato an approving look.
Many young ninjas were eager to take on missions, not realizing that rushing into battle without proper preparation could cost them their lives.
Minato's concern was well-founded and reasonable.
But their team was different from most.
"This is something I've thought through carefully. I'll train you while we carry out the mission."
"...Alright."
Since Jiraiya had made up his mind, Minato chose not to argue further.
After all, when it came to experience, Jiraiya was leagues ahead of them.
Jiraiya looked around again and noticed something.
"Where's Simu?"
Kushina raised an eyebrow. "That guy must be napping somewhere."
At that moment, a golden flash appeared in the distance.
The light converged, forming Simu's figure.
"La la la, I just didn't want to wait too long."
Simu yawned lazily, rubbed his eyes, then pulled out a pair of sunglasses from his coat and put them on.
Jiraiya didn't comment, considering that he himself had also been late.
He unrolled the mission scroll, laid it on the grass, and began explaining.
"Alright, let me introduce our mission."
"Our task is to head to the border of the Land of Fire and eliminate a group of bandits."
Eliminate the bandits…
In other words, this mission would involve killing.
Simu and Minato's expressions grew serious in an instant.
Only Kushina remained oblivious to the gravity of the situation, still happily caught up in the excitement of finally getting to do a mission.
"We'll discuss the details on the way. For now, go prepare your ninja pouches and meet at the village gate in an hour."
"Dismissed!"
The three of them disappeared in an instant.
Jiraiya recalled what the Third Hokage had told him earlier.
"Geniuses are forged in blood."
In times of peace, most Genin would start with mundane tasks—finding lost cats, helping farmers fend off wild boars, and other trivial jobs.
But Simu's team was different.
Jiraiya wanted to sharpen them into Konoha's deadliest blades.
The sooner they adapted to the battlefield, the better.
Because once they stepped onto the front lines, it was kill or be killed.
Fifty minutes later.
Simu, Minato, and Kushina had already gathered at the Konoha gate.
Jiraiya glanced over them.
Minato and Kushina were dressed in standard Konoha shinobi uniforms, predominantly green.
Only Simu stood out.
He still wore his white coat of justice, without even carrying a ninja pouch.
There was no difference between his current outfit and his usual one.
It wasn't that Simu was being careless—he simply didn't need any extra gear.
With his mastery of the Six Styles and the power of the Glint-Glint Fruit, he had no need for weapons.
Jiraiya hesitated for a moment but ultimately said nothing.
Recalling Simu's terrifying golden flash from the previous day, he decided to let it go.
"Alright, if you're all ready, let's move out!"
