Seraphina entered the room, glancing at Charles. Without a word, she lay beside him and soon drifted off to sleep.

Morning

William and Walter were having lunch at the dining hall while Bartram helped serve their meal.

Seraphina walked in.

"Mother!" they called out, standing up to hug her.

She smiled warmly, kissing their foreheads. "Oh my, you two are up early. Now sit down and finish your meal."

She turned to Bartram. "Where is Charles?"

"He's in his office working. He took his meal earlier," Bartram replied.

Seraphina nodded and took her seat, beginning to eat.

Walter hesitated before speaking. "Mother, why doesn't Father eat with us?"

William smiled. "Father must be busy."

Their mother nodded. "William is right," she said, gently rubbing Walter's forehead. "Now finish up and get ready for school."

Bartram wiped Walter's mouth, while William cleaned himself up and stood to get dressed.

Seraphina finished her meal and made her way to Charles' office.

At Charles' Office

The door was locked.

She frowned, knocking. "Charles? Why did you lock the door?"

After a moment, the door creaked open. Charles stood there, sweat beading on his forehead, his breathing ragged.

Her eyes widened in concern. "Hey, are you okay?" She quickly grabbed his arm and helped him to a chair.

He let out a weak chuckle. "I think my sugar is low."

Seraphina sighed. "Wait here. I'll get you some candies from the kitchen." She hurried away.

As soon as she left, Charles pushed himself up and opened the closet. Inside, Edward sat casually, smirking.

"I kissed you thirty times, and now your sugar is low?" Edward teased with a grin.

Charles sighed. "Enough, I can barely stand. You should go home now."

Edward chuckled, stepping out of the closet. He leaned in, pressing another quick kiss to Charles' lips before slipping out through the window.

Just as he disappeared, Seraphina returned.

"Charles! Why are you standing by the window?" she asked suspiciously.

Charles turned to her, forcing a smile. "Just getting some fresh air."

She eyed him for a moment before handing him the candy. "Here, eat this."

He unwrapped it and popped it into his mouth, letting out a small sigh of relief.

Seraphina crossed her arms, eyes narrowing as she studied Charles. "You should freshen up. You look exhausted from all the work."

Charles barely looked up from the stack of files on his desk. "I just have a little more to finish. Then I'll freshen up," he replied, flipping through the pages with a tired sigh.

She let out a small huff but didn't push further. "Alright, do your work. If you need anything, call me."

He nodded absentmindedly, already engrossed in his paperwork.

With one last glance, Seraphina turned and left the office, the door clicking shut behind her.

The moment she was gone, Charles put down his pen and stood up. He walked over to the door and cracked it open, peering outside. His sharp eyes scanned the hallway. Empty.

Just as he was about to step back, a maid suddenly passed by. She caught sight of him standing in the doorway and paused.

"My Lord, do you need anything?" she asked politely.

Charles straightened, his expression neutral. "If anyone tries to come near my office, don't let them in. I'm locking the door."

The maid bowed. "Understood, My Lord."

With that, Charles shut the door and locked it. He exhaled softly, rubbing his temple before heading towards the window.

Edward was already there, hiding just outside. When their eyes met, Edward grinned and gave a small wave.

Charles sighed, crossing his arms. "I told you to go home."

Edward smirked. "You should freshen up. Your office bathroom is quite nice."

Before Charles could retort, Edward climbed in through the window with effortless ease.

The next moment, Charles grabbed him by the collar and pulled him close. His breath ghosted over Edward's lips as a teasing smile played on his own.

"Wanna bath with me?" he murmured before capturing Edward's lips in a deep kiss.

Charles sighed, collapsing onto his chair. His body ached in ways that made him regret nothing—but as he shifted uncomfortably, he let out a small groan.
