Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Enies Lobby.
Enies Lobby, also known as the Island That Never Sleeps because there is no night, was established under the World Government. Though it claims to be a court, in reality, it's little more than a formality. Regardless of guilt or innocence, anyone sent to Enies Lobby is inevitably declared a prisoner. They're marched through empty courtrooms, only to arrive at the massive steel Gate of Justice. Anyone who passes through that gate is never seen again. It represents the World Government's so-called "Absolute Justice."
You can reach Enies Lobby via the Sea Train from Water 7.
Enies Lobby, Marine Headquarters, and Impel Down form a triangle of the World Government's might. Once you enter the Gate of Justice at Enies Lobby, there are only two destinations: Marine Headquarters or Impel Down. There is no third path.
Today marked the sixth day since Vane arrived in Water 7. According to Iceburg's promise, Vane would receive his new ship today.
In truth, the ship had already been completed yesterday. Iceburg had poured his full effort into its construction, with help from Franky. Thanks to Franky's involvement, the ship ran on cola-powered propulsion. Unlike other ships that relied on fuel types harder to come by, cola was widely available and much more convenient.
The ship measured sixty meters in length and twenty meters at its widest point—massive by any standard.
Its appearance suited Vane's tastes perfectly—or rather, it appealed to the aesthetic of most men: bold, commanding, and powerful.
It had been crafted from the legendary Adam Wood, a precious material renowned throughout the world.
At Dock 3, Vane stood beside Kalifa and Iceburg.
"What do you think? This is your ship," Iceburg said proudly, gesturing toward the vessel docked at the pier. "In terms of the wood used, it's second only to the ship of the Pirate King himself. With this, you can sail across any sea!"
He had personally designed it. This ship was their shared masterpiece.
Vane nodded with a faint smile. "I'm more than satisfied."
Iceburg glanced at Kalifa, who was a few steps behind them, and raised an eyebrow. "You sure about her security clearance?"
Security?
Kalifa frowned, irritated by the comment.
"She's good," Vane replied. "And Rob Lucci is dead. There are three others still left on Enies Lobby. After today, they'll be dealt with too. The World Government won't be troubling you anymore."
"That's a relief," Iceburg said with a chuckle. "Though honestly, they wouldn't dare touch me. I'm still working for them. They'd have no excuse."
Vane gave him a nod. "Then I wish you peace."
After saying their goodbyes, Vane and Kalifa didn't immediately board the ship. Instead, they headed for the Sea Train.
Their destination: Enies Lobby.

Half an hour later, Vane and Kalifa arrived at the outskirts of Enies Lobby, passing through the gated perimeter and entering government territory.
On the surface, it was hailed as one of the World Government's most sacred sites. In truth, it was a symbol of their twisted version of "justice"—one cloaked in darkness and cruelty.
The front island served as the main entrance, heavily guarded. The central landmass contained various so-called courts—mere facades. At its end stood the Trial Court, a mockery of any real judicial process. Whether innocent or not, once someone was processed here, they were labeled a criminal.
Beyond that stood the Tower of Justice. A long bridge connected it to the infamous Gate of Justice—a one-way path with no return.
Kalifa hesitated as they approached. "You really plan to fight your way in? Do you understand how dangerous the World Government is?"
She was nervous. Though she had once walked these halls as one of their own, she now stood as a traitor. Worse still, she was with him—Vane, a man so mad he had dared to kill a Celestial Dragon… and lived.
She was a pirate now.
"No idea," Vane replied simply.
And with that, the two stepped foot on Enies Lobby.
A squad of guards quickly approached.
"Hey! You from Water 7? This isn't a place you can just—"
Before the man could finish, Vane unleashed his Haki.
A wave of pure force swept across the area like a storm. Dozens of guards collapsed immediately, unconscious before they even understood what hit them.
Kalifa's eyes widened in shock.
"That was... Conqueror's Haki?"
She felt her heart race. This was her first time seeing such power in person. She'd heard stories, but witnessing it was entirely different. Vane had knocked out dozens of trained guards with just his presence—and he'd only released it for a few seconds.
Even she felt faint from the residual pressure.
If he'd kept it up a little longer… she might've passed out herself.
The sheer weight of that power crushed any thoughts of resistance. She knew now—there was no fighting a man like Vane.
He wasn't someone you challenged. He was someone you followed… or feared.
"Let's keep moving," Vane said calmly. "We already dealt with a few agents in Water 7 this morning. Two more are still hiding here. And Spandam—."
