Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Clearing the last of Cp9.
The two remaining members of CP9 were Blueno, who had the Door Door Fruit, and Jabra, who had the Dog-Dog Fruit, Model: Wolf. One had a power level of over 800, the other over 2,000.
For Vane, they were both one-shot kills.
They had escaped to Enies Lobby after their other teammates had been wiped out earlier that morning. Even Rob Lucci, the man they thought was unbeatable, had been slain. Their sense of security had shattered, replaced by a deep, gnawing fear. They fled to Enies Lobby, believing it to be the one place the enemy wouldn't dare enter.
This was the World Government's territory. If someone dared to attack and kill on Enies Lobby, then surely there would be no safe place left for them in the world.
But as soon as Vane released his Observation Haki, he locked on to their location.
In a large chamber, Jabra, Blueno, and Spandam sat drinking together.
"Now that everyone's here," Vane said with a smirk as he and Kalifa arrived at the door, "we won't waste time."
Vane turned to her. "Kalifa, Spandam's yours. I'll take care of the other two."
"Spandam? He's..." Kalifa hesitated. The man was still a World Government official, and his father, Spandine, held an even higher post. Even though Spandam was scum, his identity made him untouchable—at least in theory.
"Why else do you think I let you live?" Vane asked coldly.
Kalifa's expression hardened. "I'll kill him."
Inside the room, the trio continued to drink.
Jabra and Blueno wore grim expressions. Only Spandam lounged on the sofa with his usual smugness.
Spandam laughed, "What are you two so worried about? You think he'd dare come to Enies Lobby? This is my territory! My father, Spandine, is a major figure in the World Government!"
Jabra scowled. "I still can't believe Lucci's dead. Of all of us, only Kalifa and the two of us survived. But Kalifa... she defected. She's with him now."
Blueno nodded stiffly. "If not for my Door Door Fruit, Jabra and I would've died too."
Jabra spat bitterly, "The one responsible is Vane—the bastard who killed two Celestial Dragons! That monster! I still can't wrap my head around it. He's so young, and yet he crushed Lucci like nothing!"
He trembled at the memory. He had seen it firsthand—Vane had shattered a building with a single punch. Even recalling it made his scalp tingle.
Blueno said, "The situation is dire. The World Government has issued a full global alert. They want him alive."
But Spandam just grinned. "Relax. I'll report it to the World Government in due time. He's just a petty pirate. If he dares come here—or better yet, if I catch him in Water 7—I'll make sure his life is a living hell."
Blueno frowned. "Why haven't you reported it already?"
Spandam leaned back smugly. "Why waste the chance? If I catch Vane myself, I'll get all the credit. Maybe even earn favor with the Celestial Dragons. Becoming one of their lapdogs would be an honor beyond words."
Just then, the door opened.
Vane and Kalifa entered.
Vane smiled. "Gentlemen. What a pleasure. I've come to send you on your way."
"You—You actually came here?!" Blueno and Jabra both shot to their feet, faces pale with disbelief.
"You... you're the brat who killed the noble Celestial Dragons?" Spandam jumped up, a twisted excitement lighting up his eyes. Vane was the key to his rise in power.
"Haha! I suggest you kneel and beg me for mercy, or I'll make you suffer in ways you'll never forget!" Spandam sneered.
Jabra and Blueno looked at him like he was a complete fool.
"Kalifa, you betrayed us? Betrayed the World Government?" Jabra asked in disbelief.
Kalifa said nothing.
Spandam kept going, laughing maniacally. "Hey, brat—think you're a god or something? Bow before me and maybe—just maybe—I'll let you crawl away alive!"
Vane pointed at Spandam. "Don't leave a complete corpse."
Kalifa understood. She vanished with Soru, appearing instantly before Spandam. Her leg whipped out and smashed into his head. The blow flattened his skull, his eyes bulged, and his face twisted grotesquely from the force.
Boom! Spandam's body flew into the corner, slamming against the wall with a sickening crack. The wall split from the impact. He had always been weaker than the lowest-ranked Marine—barely reaching a power level of 10. He had none of their strength. One hit was all it took to render him unconscious, twitching on the ground with his legs in the air.
"Kalifa, you..." Blueno and Jabra stared in shock. They couldn't believe she had actually attacked Spandam. Regardless of his personality, striking a government official was a grave offense.
"Just following orders," she replied, walking toward Spandam's broken body. Vane had told her—no full corpse left behind.
"Don't lose focus," Vane's voice cut in coldly.
He appeared in front of them in a blink. After watching Soru a few times, he'd already mastered it. With his powerful physique, he was even faster than Rob Lucci.
"Don't underestimate us!" Jabra roared.
But it was too late.
Vane's fists struck their stomachs with explosive force.
When it was over, Spandam's body was unrecognizable. Blueno and Jabra were dead—their internal organs shattered beyond repair.
