One Piece: Lazy Admiral with a Multiverse System

Chapter 12: Chapter 12: So Kizaru’s a Swordmaster Too, Huh?

Amamiya Noah's ship set sail without delay.

There was no point lingering at Marineford any longer.

Especially after what had just gone down, Sengoku was bound to cling to his ear like a mosquito, nagging nonstop.

Honestly, heading out to sea was far better than staying in that cursed base.

As long as Sengoku wasn't around to pollute him with words, anywhere else was paradise by comparison.

"Kizaru-nii, why didn't you stick around a little longer? I mean, with your speed, even if I were at the ends of the world, you could catch up in no time."

Noah lounged comfortably in a deck chair, letting the sea breeze gently brush his face.

It wasn't as comfortable as the training grounds back at HQ…

But at least out here, he could breathe a little.

"Sigh… that won't do. You're one of the Navy's most valuable pillars now," Kizaru replied lazily, sprawled out on the chair beside him. "I couldn't possibly match your level anymore."

Two loungers, two lazy men. If you didn't know better, you'd think they were just on vacation.

Definitely didn't look like they were out on an official mission.

Even Hina, watching from the side, couldn't help but feel speechless.

These two were the Navy's top-tier slackers.

She'd come to terms with that long ago.

"Right, I haven't even taken a proper look at that loot from earlier."

Noah suddenly remembered the spoils of his recent battle: a Devil Fruit, and a famous blade.

Time to give them a proper inspection.

"Vice Admiral Noah, here it is," Hina said, holding up the box and blade.

Noah had barely glanced at them earlier before setting them aside.

She'd assumed he didn't care.

After all, he always relied on his fists in battle.

Whether he could even wield a sword properly was still a question mark.

Kizaru pushed his glasses up slightly, peering at the sword in Hina's hands.

This blade was no ordinary weapon. It was a well-known cursed sword.

Even among the Twenty-One Great Grade Swords, few could rival it.

It stood tall among demonic blades.

Only the First Generation Kitetsu could truly match its malevolence.

"Didn't think you'd be someone who knows quality, Kizaru-nii."

Noah chuckled, taking the sword from Hina.

The moment his fingers closed around the hilt, he could feel it.

A strange power sealed within the blade.

As long as he didn't release it, nothing would happen.

But once unsheathed…

Well, no one could say for sure what might happen.

Every past owner of this blade had met an untimely end.

Suicide, madness, mysterious deaths, without exception.

The one thing everyone agreed on?

This sword brought death to its wielder.

"Well, I am technically a swordsman," Kizaru said with a scratch of his chin.

Was it really that shocking for Noah to find out?

Maybe he should start showing off his sword skills once in a while like Noah did.

Let the folks at HQ get a little reminder of what he could do.

But there were upsides and downsides to being too flashy.

Just look at Noah.

He was supposed to be just a Vice Admiral with limited responsibilities.

Now they were practically forcing him into an Admiral's chair.

Why do you think he was running away from Sengoku right now?

"Technically, huh…"

Noah gave Kizaru a look.

Was "technically" how swordmasters described themselves now?

This old geezer… just how much strength was he hiding?

Was he even better at hiding power than Noah?

Shing!

Noah sat up and slowly drew the blade.

In that instant-

A wave of eerie energy erupted from the sword.

It spread outward in all directions, engulfing the entire battleship.

A thick mist rose over the ocean, cloaking them in an unnatural fog.

If they couldn't get this blade under control…

Something terrible was going to happen.

If left unchecked, the ship might become a haunted vessel.

"This blade's not bad at all," Noah murmured, eyes gleaming as he examined it.

He could feel it, an invasive force creeping from the hilt into his body, trying to corrupt him from within.

A faint red mist began to rise around him, covering his face in a spectral haze.

Hina stood nearby, frozen in shock.

The sudden fog had completely surrounded the ship.

Even the sea vanished from view.

"Captain! The Log Pose is broken!"

A panicked sailor rushed over.

He wore a bitter expression. No one had expected something like this to happen.

Their navigator had lost all sense of direction.

Even the Log Pose was spinning wildly, useless.

But Hina had no time to worry about compasses.

Right now, the only thing that mattered was Noah.

"Vice Admiral Noah!"

She stepped forward, eyes locked on the red mist.

But a hand shot out to stop her.

"Don't go any closer," Kizaru said, face uncharacteristically serious.

Even Kuzan probably hadn't had the chance to inspect this sword in full.

Its cursed nature was overwhelming.

Who knew how many souls it had devoured?

"This is such a pain…"

"But with Noah's strength, he should be able to suppress it."

Kizaru scratched his head, watching Noah cautiously.

The only issue was, Noah wasn't a swordmaster.

He had no particular swordsmanship insight.

Whether he could suppress the sword's bloodlust was anyone's guess.

Before he could finish that thought, the blood mist began to scatter.

The thick fog surrounding the ship dissipated.

The ocean returned to normal, as if nothing had ever happened.

"Nice. This blade's very nice," Noah nodded with satisfaction, admiring the weapon.

Just based on aura alone, this was no ordinary sword.

That malicious surge earlier, any normal Vice Admiral would've lost control.

They'd have gone berserk on deck.

But Noah?

He subdued it with ease.

He was thoroughly pleased.

Guess Kuzan wasn't totally useless after all.

At the very least, he had some talent for treasure hunting.

From now on, maybe he'd call him…

Treasure-Hunting Kuzan.
