In the skies above Loguetown, a dozen floating islands suddenly appeared, casting an enormous shadow that plunged the town into darkness.

The bustling townsfolk noticed the sudden dimming of sunlight and curiously remarked, "Huh? Why's it getting dark?"

"Must be the clouds," someone guessed. However, as one person instinctively looked up, their face immediately drained of colour in sheer terror.

Above them wasn't a clouded sky but a massive collection of islands suspended mid-air, seemingly joined together into an enormous landmass looming ominously over Loguetown.

Captain Pierce of the Marine branch stationed in Loguetown also noticed this abnormal phenomenon.

In all his years, he had never encountered anything so bizarre and couldn't understand what was happening.

He ordered his soldiers to keep a 24-hour watch on the islands and report any changes immediately.

Fortunately, the islands remained stationary for several days and displayed no activity. Loguetown's residents, while uneasy, managed to get through those days unscathed.

Captain Pierce even relaxed, thinking this might be a strange natural occurrence.

But peace was short-lived. Five days later, the islands descended suddenly as if to crush Loguetown beneath them.

They stopped just 300 meters above the town. Before the frightened townsfolk could collect their wits, one hundred massive iron cages were lowered from the islands.

Inside these cages were ferocious, oversized beasts, each radiating a savage aura.

Only a hundred cages were dropped because releasing too many beasts at once would likely result in them turning on each other rather than targeting the town's residents.

With a loud clank, the cages opened, and the beasts emerged, growling ferociously. Their blood-red eyes scanned the townsfolk like predators sizing up prey.

Captain Pierce quickly realized the gravity of the situation. If this wasn't handled properly, Loguetown could face total annihilation.

At that moment, a brazen voice echoed from the floating islands above. "Today, I'll wipe Loguetown off the map as a tribute to Roger!"

"Then, I'll destroy Marine Headquarters and cut down Garp and Sengoku to settle the score for locking me in Impel Down all those years ago!"

"The world will know that after Roger, I, Shiki, am the true king of the seas!"

"'Golden Lion' Shiki!"

Hearing the voice, Captain Pierce and the people of Loguetown felt their legs give out beneath them.

This man once stood shoulder-to-shoulder with legends like the Pirate King Roger and Whitebeard, the Strongest Man in the World.

Shiki was a name from the annals of legend, a pirate who had escaped from the inescapable Impel Down.

After his escape, Shiki had vanished for years, leading many to believe he had succumbed to old age.

Who could have predicted that Shiki would reappear here, in the very place where Roger was executed?

With this legendary pirate and the horde of bloodthirsty beasts surrounding them, Captain Pierce and the townsfolk felt all hope was lost.

Just days ago, they had barely survived an encounter with the Red-Haired Pirates, one of the Four Emperors. Now, they were up against Shiki himself.

Their luck couldn't be worse. Not far from the scene, Byakuya's group noticed the beasts and Shiki.

Seeing the imminent danger to the townsfolk, Luffy urgently pleaded, "Byakuya, dock the ship already!"

"You're a Marine Admiral, aren't you? You can't just watch people get hurt and do nothing!"

Byakuya smirked. "If even I, a Marine Admiral, am not panicking, why are you, a pirate, so concerned?"

"So what if I'm a pirate?" Luffy snapped back. "Pirates aren't all bad, and Marines aren't all good!"

Byakuya pointed at Shiki in the distance. "See that? That's what a real pirate looks like."

"Someone who'd slaughter tens of thousands without batting an eye just to fulfil his ambition. You, on the other hand, are far from that."

Unable to argue further, Luffy tried to change the subject. "What's the point of talking about this now? The townsfolk are about to be killed by those beasts!"

Byakuya chuckled. "If you're so eager, why don't you and Koby deal with the beasts yourselves?"

"What are you doing?!" Luffy exclaimed, alarmed, as Byakuya suddenly grabbed him and Koby.

Without warning, Byakuya hurled both of them directly toward the horde of beasts. The two were launched through the air like streaks of light, heading straight for Loguetown.

Nami, watching from the ship, asked worriedly, "Byakuya, do you think they'll be okay?"

"They'll be fine," Byakuya replied nonchalantly. "It's just a bunch of beasts, not Shiki himself.

Besides, this will test whether Koby has overcome his past fear of bloodthirsty opponents.

As for Luffy, being the 'Child of Destiny,' he might get banged up a little, but he won't die."

Above, Shiki gave the order. "My darlings, dinner's served!"

With a deafening roar, the hundred beasts charged toward the townsfolk.

Captain Pierce led his Marines in a desperate attempt to hold them back, but bullets proved useless against the beasts' tough hides.

As despair loomed, piercing screams sounded from behind Captain Pierce.

Before he could turn to look, a shadow streaked past him and plunged directly into the fray of monstrous beasts.

"Boom!"

A loud sound echoed as a dark shadow crashed into one of the massive beasts.

These creatures, impervious to bullets, were sent tumbling like bowling pins, their mountainous forms quickly smashing into a dozen other beasts.

Watching this unfold, Captain Pierce of the Loguetown Marines immediately realized reinforcements had arrived.

He shouted, "Well done!" boosting the morale of his troops, who were on the brink of despair.

But before they could cheer for long, the shadowy figure spoke angrily, "Well done, my foot! Byakuya wants to get us killed, doesn't he?"

"???" Pierce was stunned. Could this thing... talk? Wait a second! Did they just mention Byakuya? Could it be... Admiral Byakuya of the Marines?

Looking closer, Pierce finally recognized that the shadow was two young men, one of whom he'd seen just a few days earlier—'Straw Hat' Luffy, the pirate.

Pierce was certain that Luffy couldn't have escaped Admiral Byakuya's grasp, which left only one explanation: Admiral Byakuya himself had arrived! The realization filled Pierce with renewed determination. He bellowed, "Hold the line, men! Admiral Byakuya is on his way!"

Hearing this, the Marine soldiers found their spirits reignited, clinging to a renewed hope of survival.

Groups of ten soldiers worked together to hold off a single beast, while officers grouped in pairs or trios to engage others.

A dozen ferocious beasts remained unchecked, rampaging freely through the town.

Though escape might have seemed like an option, none of the Marines entertained the thought. They had sworn to protect civilians, even at the cost of their own lives.

More importantly, the people they were defending weren't just strangers—they were their families, their loved ones. They couldn't abandon them to such a fate.

One lone Marine, cornered and overwhelmed by two beasts, was seconds from death when Luffy roared, "Gum-Gum Gatling Gun!"

His fists flew like bullets, pummeling the beasts and sending them crashing to the ground, saving the Marine at the last second.

The Marine, startled but grateful, instinctively thanked Luffy. However, realizing his saviour was a pirate, he froze in disbelief.

"Watch out!"

The beast Luffy had knocked down and lunged again, its jaws wide open. Luffy's arm stretched out, pulling the Marine to safety in time.

This time, the Marine didn't hesitate, offering sincere thanks before rejoining his comrades to restrain the creature.

It was an unusual sight: a pirate fighting alongside Marines. Luffy couldn't help but question his identity. What did it truly mean to be a pirate?

Despite Luffy and Koby's help, the situation for the Marines remained dire.

As expected, Luffy performed admirably, while Koby, though showing courage, was outmatched.

His movements were hesitant, and he could only bring out a fraction of his strength, leaving him struggling.

Watching this unfold, Byakuya sighed softly. If this continued, it was only a matter of time before more soldiers fell to the beasts.

In a flash, Byakuya moved, his figure streaking like a beam of light through the horde of monsters.

The once-ferocious beasts froze in place, seemingly petrified. Byakuya reappeared in front of the soldiers, prompting an eruption of cheers.

Captain Pierce rushed to his side, exclaiming, "Admiral Byakuya, your timing is perfect!"

"I was just on my way back to the Grand Line and happened to pass by," Byakuya replied casually.

Glancing toward the sky, he murmured, "Call Fleet Admiral Sengoku later and let him know I've eliminated 'Golden Lion' Shiki."

"???"

Pierce was left dumbfounded by Byakuya's confident declaration. He hadn't even engaged Shiki yet and was already asking him to report the victory.

What if Shiki defeated him—or worse, killed him? Wouldn't Pierce be guilty of false reporting? Of course, he didn't dare voice these concerns, instead nodding fervently.

Meanwhile, Luffy questioned, "Byakuya, are you just going to leave these beasts here?"

"They're all dead. What's the problem?" Byakuya replied nonchalantly.

"Dead?"

Luffy's disbelief was written all over his face. Tentatively, he pushed one of the beasts. The creature toppled over with a thud when his hand touched its massive form.

Its colossal body split cleanly in half upon hitting the ground, blood pooling beneath it and soaking into the earth.

Like dominoes, the beasts collapsed one by one, each revealing the same clean, precise cuts.

The ground was soon drenched in blood, the stench of iron saturating the air.

Luffy stared in shock. The sheer power required to kill so many beasts instantly was beyond comprehension.

Having fought these creatures firsthand, he knew their strength well. This display of power was far more terrifying than when Byakuya had repelled the Red-Haired Pirates.

It dawned on Luffy how fortunate he'd been during his previous encounter with Byakuya. The admiral could have obliterated him easily, yet he had held back significantly.

Shiki, perched atop the floating islands, watched the scene unfold below with narrowed eyes. Byakuya's effortless massacre of the beasts had not gone unnoticed.
