Shiki descended from the island, hovering midair and looking down at Byakuya with a commanding presence.

"I didn't expect a Marine Vice Admiral as young as you to possess such strength. Killing you would be a waste. How about this?"

"If you're willing to join the Flying Pirates, I'll forget about everything up to now and make you a high-ranking officer in my crew."

Due to the distance earlier, Shiki hadn't heard the Marine soldiers address Byakuya as a Marine Admiral.

Upon descending, he judged Byakuya's rank solely based on his Vice Admiral uniform.

Typically, Shiki's deep hatred for the Marines would make him attack on sight.

But ever since the Battle of Edd War and his imprisonment in Impel Down, the Flying Pirates had been left in shambles.

Seeing someone as young and powerful as Byakuya sparked Shiki's interest.

If he could recruit and groom Byakuya, he could potentially become the Flying Pirates' first mate.

Thus, Shiki chose to offer an invitation rather than attacking immediately.

However, Shiki failed to realize how shocking his words were to those present.

Is a legendary pirate openly recruiting a Marine Admiral to serve under him? Such arrogance would be unthinkable even for the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger!

Byakuya's gaze shifted to Shiki, a glint of killing intent flashing in his eyes. He turned to Luffy and Koby and said coldly, "Watch closely."

"I'll show you just how miserable the end of a pirate can be."

With that, Byakuya bent his knees and leaped into the air, positioning himself at Shiki's level.

Shiki looked at Byakuya with a condescending smirk. "Judging by your abilities, you've reached the level of a master swordsman."

"I'm also one of the world's top swordsmen. If you join me, I can teach you how to take your swordsmanship even further."

"You could even reach Admiral-level strength."

Byakuya glanced at Shiki's sword-like prosthetic legs and replied indifferently, "My legs are intact. I doubt I could learn your techniques."

"You brat, are you looking to die?" Shiki's eyes widened in rage, his aura flaring like an enraged lion.

His intense Conqueror's Haki radiated outward, attempting to overwhelm Byakuya.

However, Byakuya's Haki sharpened through a previous clash with Shanks, had already reached a level far surpassing Shiki's.

To Byakuya, Shiki's Conqueror's Haki wasn't even enough to serve as practice.

To Byakuya, Shiki was nothing more than an aging lion roaring in vain.

Byakuya remained calm. "Your time has passed. You'll just become another stepping stone for me."

Shiki burst into maniacal laughter. "Hahaha! Kid, countless people have said that to me. They're all dead now, and you're next!"

"Slash Wave!" Without warning, Shiki swung his prosthetic sword leg at Byakuya, unleashing a massive slash of energy that streaked toward him.

What Shiki didn't expect, however, was Byakuya's response. The Marine stood still, making no move to dodge or draw his blade.

This blatant disregard enraged Shiki further.

"You dare mock me? A master swordsman refusing to draw his sword!" Shiki's voice thundered with indignation.

Byakuya calmly met Shiki's furious gaze and said, "First, I'm not just a master swordsman. Second, this isn't mockery. It's me giving you too much credit."

Before Shiki could react, Byakuya raised a hand and effortlessly caught the massive energy slash mid-air.

With a slight exertion of strength, the attack shattered into fragments, scattering harmlessly.

Byakuya's hand remained unscathed despite not even employing Armament Haki. Shiki's confidence faltered as he watched in disbelief.

His energy slash, powerful enough to slice through miles of ocean, had been neutralized by a single Marine barehanded.

His voice trembled with rage and confusion. "Impossible! Not even Garp would dare to catch my slash barehanded. How could someone like you—"

"Because I'm much stronger than Garp," Byakuya interrupted coldly.

In a flash, he disappeared and reappeared directly in front of Shiki, his hand outstretched to grab the pirate.

Shiki reacted swiftly, pushing his Float-Float Fruit powers to their limit to widen the distance.

He unleashed a barrage of golden slashes, each more powerful than the last.

"Lion's Thousand Slice Valley!" A storm of sword energy tore through the air, each attack capable of cleaving entire mountains into rubble.

Byakuya didn't even flinch. "It's useless." He swung a normal punch at the oncoming energy slashes.

The sheer force of his strike obliterated the attacks instantly, dispersing them into harmless particles.

The remaining shockwave struck Shiki head-on, sending him flying backward.

Shiki felt as though his chest had been crushed. Blood spurted from his mouth, staining his already-tattered clothes.

His body hurtled like a broken ragdoll before crashing into the distance.

Byakuya didn't pursue it immediately. He stared at his fist, shaking his head in mild disbelief.

"Only one percent of my strength, and you almost killed him with one punch. This is ridiculous."

Previously, Byakuya had always adjusted his strength to match his opponent, rarely using even a fraction of his true abilities.

His swordsmanship alone had sufficed to place him among the top Admirals.

Now, with no observers or potential leaks, Byakuya allowed himself to experiment, testing the limits of his physical strength.

To avoid accidentally killing Shiki outright, he deliberately restrained himself, using only a percent of his power.

Even so, Shiki had been left teetering on the brink of death.

Shiki, bloodied but unyielding as Byakuya reflected, launched himself back into the fray, roaring with desperate defiance.

Shiki, though a supreme swordsman with an unparalleled mastery of his blade—or rather, his leg-based swordsmanship—was most fearsome for his Devil Fruit ability.

The Float-Float Fruit (Fuwa Fuwa no Mi) allowed him to defy gravity, enabling himself or the objects he had touched to float freely in the air.

This ability seemingly had no upper limit on the weight it could affect, making it one of the Paramecia-type Devil Fruits comparable in strength to Whitebeard's Tremor-Tremor Fruit.

Naturally, this fruit was one of Byakuya's targets.

Realizing his swordsmanship was ineffective against Byakuya, Shiki activated his awakened Float-Float Fruit powers, manipulating an island spanning hundreds of miles to hurl it at Byakuya.

The sheer visual spectacle of this act surpassed even Admiral Fujitora's meteor summoning. Byakuya didn't stay still this time; he launched himself directly toward the incoming island.

His speed was so intense that the Justice cloak trailing behind him whipped sharply in the wind.

With a single punch, Byakuya struck the center of the island.

The force of his fist caused countless cracks to spread like a spider web, instantly engulfing the entire island.

Boom! The island shattered into countless fragments of dirt and rock, cascading from the sky like a torrential rain of debris.

Luffy and Koby stared dumbfounded at the scene, not even flinching as dirt fell onto their faces.

Luffy stammered, "One punch… shattered an entire island… Is this the strength of a Marine Admiral?"

Koby, equally awestruck, muttered, "The legendary pirate 'Golden Lion' Shiki couldn't even withstand a single punch from Byakuya. Is this… the power of a Marine Admiral?"

Byakuya's overwhelming strength once again redefined the boundaries of what Luffy and Koby thought was possible.

At that moment, Luffy began to grasp why his grandfather was so insistent that he not become a pirate.

If every Marine Admiral possessed strength akin to Byakuya, then the power level of the Four Emperors, who maintained a fragile balance with the Marines, must be unimaginable.

For Luffy to become the Pirate King, he would have to contend with Admirals like Byakuya and fight against the Emperors themselves.

The mere thought of it was daunting. Without his grandfather's connections, Luffy realized he might not have made it out of East Blue alive, much less reached the Grand Line in pursuit of One Piece.

After watching Byakuya obliterate the island, Shiki roared, "Lion Might: Earth Scroll!"

The ground from multiple islands was torn up and shaped into colossal lion heads with gaping maws, their heights soaring thousands of meters.

These massive constructs surged toward Byakuya with terrifying force, kicking up a storm of yellow sand.

Luffy and Koby could see the monstrous display of power even hundreds of meters away.

This was their first glimpse into the true might of a legendary pirate—a force capable of reshaping landscapes and threatening the lives of tens of thousands.

Fortunately, Byakuya and Shiki's battlefield was high in the sky.

Had it been on the ground, the shockwaves from their clash would have completely obliterated Loguetown.

Standing amidst the swirling sandstorm, Byakuya's Justice cloak flapping in the wind, he nonchalantly remarked, "It looks impressive, but it's useless against me."

With a calm motion, Byakuya unleashed a palm strike through the air.

The resulting gust of wind coalesced into a massive sand whip, tens of thousands of meters long.

The whip struck the lion heads one by one, smashing them into oblivion like mere toys.

The seemingly unstoppable Lion Might: Earth Scroll was completely neutralized in mere moments.

Shiki was utterly dumbfounded. Have Marine Vice Admirals grown so terrifyingly powerful in just over a decade?

He began to wonder how pirates in this era even managed to survive.

Shiki couldn't help but suspect that even if he, Roger, and Whitebeard joined forces, they might not be able to defeat this Marine Vice Admiral before him.

Despite his pride, Shiki understood that he would surely die if he didn't retreat now.

Activating his Float-Float powers to their utmost, Shiki tried to flee at incredible speed.

But Byakuya smirked. "Running?" With a mere thought, Byakuya's telekinetic powers erupted.

He grabbed the massive sand whip with one hand and swung it toward the fleeing Shiki.

Shiki attempted to evade but suddenly felt an invisible weight pressing down on him like a mountain crushing his body.

Unable to move, Shiki was struck directly by the sand whip, which smashed into his head with a resounding crack!

The ship's helm, which had been embedded in Shiki's skull for decades, shattered.

His bloodied body plummeted like a meteor, crashing into an island below and creating a massive crater.

Dust and debris shot into the sky, obscuring the battlefield. Byakuya flashed down to the crater's edge, where Shiki lay bloodied and broken, his head nearly crushed into his torso.

The legendary pirate was barely alive, clinging to the last threads of consciousness.

Byakuya reached into his system's storage space and retrieved a heap of fruits of various shapes and sizes, placing them around Shiki's dying body.

Normally, when a Devil Fruit user dies, their fruit's powers would reappear randomly in the ocean.

However, placing fruits near the dying user could sometimes cause the Devil Fruit's powers to transfer to one of them.

Though this method wasn't foolproof, Byakuya was willing to try—especially since Shiki's Float-Float Fruit was a top-tier Paramecia ability with immense strategic value.

Looking at Byakuya's preparations, Shiki chuckled bitterly. Once, he had looked down on this young Vice Admiral, even offering him a place in his crew as a gesture of mercy.

Shiki lay defeated, staring at his demise, while Byakuya nonchalantly prepared to harvest his Devil Fruit.

"You want the Float-Float Fruit?" Shiki croaked. "With your strength, it won't help you much."

Byakuya responded casually, "It's useful for moving things. I'm planning to let one of my subordinates eat it. It'll come in handy for relocating islands."

Shiki coughed blood at the thought. To him, the Float-Float Fruit was a treasure that had cemented his legacy.

For Byakuya to regard it as a mere convenience for "moving things" was an insult of the highest order.

"Your name…" Shiki gasped weakly. "Tell me your name so I know whose hands I died by."

"Byakuya."

Shiki's eyes widened. "With your power… you're more than just a Vice Admiral, right?"

Byakuya smirked, his tone dripping with mock humility. "No, I'm just a Vice Admiral. And among them, I'm near the bottom in strength."

Shiki's jaw dropped. He finally protested, "I don't… believe you! You're lying!"

With those words, Shiki's life ended, his eyes still wide with disbelief.

Byakuya glanced at the lifeless Shiki and shook his head. "Why are these old-timers so temperamental? A few words, and they die of anger."

"Such a narrow mindset." As he spoke, one of the nearby fruits transformed, its surface taking on a light blue hue with cloud-like patterns.

Byakuya smiled faintly. The Float-Float Fruit was his.
