Chapter 11: 10- Forging Instinct

10- Forging Instinct

For a week, both Zoro and Tashigi underwent hellish training. After hitting each other, Kara would take them to an empty place and start chasing them while destroying everything in her path.

—No, not like that. Dodging just by reflexes is useless. You have to feel like you're about to be turned into cubes of meat —Kara said as she used Crush Magic against Zoro and Tashigi, who were sweaty and dirty from rolling on the ground to dodge her attacks.

—This is insane! Are you trying to kill us?! —Zoro shouted, looking at all the rubble around him, a result of Kara's magic.

—So noisy —Kara said, appearing in front of him and using Crush Magic, cutting him into pieces.

—Aaaah! That's so cruel… You killed him! —Tashigi screamed in fear.

—Nah, look closely —Kara said, pointing at the ground, where Zoro's cubes turned into tiny mini Zoros who stared at each other in surprise.

—If I had attacked with the intent to kill, you'd have died on the first day —she said calmly—. In case you didn't notice, I've been raising the level each day. So, I suppose we can consider this training complete for now —Kara added with a smile.

—Hey! Turn me back to normal! —the tiny Zoros shouted.

—Yeah!

—Damn you!

The mini Zoros ran around until Kara reversed her magic. Zoro returned to his normal body and checked his hands, making sure everything was in place.

—Alright, for your graduation from this training camp, stand in front of me —Kara said with a smile.

Both Tashigi and Zoro obeyed and positioned themselves before her.

—Don't die —she suddenly said, getting serious as she released her killing intent along with her magic power. Both were completely frozen, unable to move, trembling with fear.

Then, she raised both hands in front of their faces and said:

—This time, it won't be training but destruction. If you don't move, you will die.

Suddenly, grids of energy began forming in the air in front of her hands, and slowly, she launched them toward their faces.

Seeing the grids approaching, they felt imminent danger and struggled with all their might to move. Although the attack technically lasted less than a second, to them, it felt like an eternity.

Just before being hit, both managed to jump to the side, falling to the ground, drenched in sweat and still trembling.

As they turned around, they saw how everything behind them was disintegrating—rubble, stones… even the table Kara used for eating.

Now, everything was a dust-covered plain.

—Good, you did it. You barely touched the entrance of Observation Haki. What a great teacher I am —Kara said cheerfully, walking away without even looking at the stunned Zoro and Tashigi.

As she walked, she saw Smoker, who had been watching the training.

—What would have happened if they hadn't dodged? —he asked seriously, his face showing annoyance.

—They would've died —Kara answered naturally. Seeing Smoker's expression, she burst into laughter—. Pfft, it was the same ability I used on Zoro. I just lied to them. And I'm the best at Observation Haki in the Marines. I can even see several seconds into the future; they were never in danger —she said, crossing paths with Smoker while humming a tune.

—Sigh… Psychopath —Smoker muttered. He knew Kara wouldn't harm innocents even if her life depended on it, which was why he had allowed Tashigi to train with her. But sometimes, her unpredictability was concerning.

—Sir, a rather strange bounty poster just arrived —a soldier said, handing him a wanted poster.

—Ten berries? —Smoker said, puzzled as he looked at the poster. On it was the image of a cheerful boy with a straw hat.

Kara also saw the same poster when it fell from a seagull.

—Hahaha! I hope you like my gift, little brother —she said, laughing at the ridiculous price they had put on Luffy.

Meanwhile, on a goat-shaped ship, a cry of lament was followed by laughter.

—Why only ten?! —Luffy cried, kneeling on the floor while looking at his bounty poster.

—Hahaha! Even a bag of apples is worth more —Sanji said, laughing while holding his stomach.

—Maybe if we turn him in to the Marines, we'd have to pay them instead —Usopp mocked.

—What did you say, you bastards?! —Luffy shouted, lunging at Usopp and Sanji.

—Enough, you two! We're about to reach Loguetown, behave yourselves! —Nami yelled, furious at the commotion.

Meanwhile, in a corner, Gin was lost in thought.

—Could it have been that woman's fault…? —he murmured, then shuddered at the memory of her.

A few hours later in Loguetown…

—Your promotion message has arrived. Now we can have the tailor make you new clothes —Kara said, appearing in front of Zoro, who was training with weights in the training field.

Tashigi, on the other hand, was training the soldiers not far away, with Coby among them. After talking with Kara, Coby had decided to stay in Loguetown to train, since going to the Grand Line would be too dangerous for him.

Even though Kara could protect him, he didn't want to be a burden on them, so he opted to stay and rise in the Marines through his own merits.

—Alright. Let's go —Zoro said, dropping the weights.

—Tashigi, are you coming? —Kara asked, shouting behind Zoro.

—Huh? Mmm, sure, we're done anyway… Rest up —Tashigi said, dismissing the soldiers from training.

After giving his measurements, Zoro was taken to choose the design of his new uniform. After a good while deciding, he ended up choosing the design of the clothes he would wear after the timeskip, with the difference that now it had a small Marine logo on the chest.

—Well, if he likes it… —Kara said, shrugging—. At least it has more style than his previous clothes.

Luckily for Zoro, the tailor already had the uniform practically ready, since he and Kara had placed the order for the fabric and model in advance. It only needed to be sewn to fit, which took about half an hour.

Meanwhile, Kara got distracted buying sweets around the area, with Tashigi accompanying her.

By the way, Kara had also come to pick up her new cape. She had gone all this time without one since she destroyed the last one after it got slightly stained.

When Zoro came out with his new style, he now looked more elegant and proud.

—So… It's been a week. When do we set sail for the Grand Line? —Zoro asked, approaching Kara.

—Mmm… Today? —Kara replied, not too sure, while holding a bag full of snacks.

—Right, you have to return to Marineford —Tashigi said, a little sad about the farewell, as she had grown quite fond of them during training.

—Ah, I wouldn't worry too much about the farewell, Tashigi —Kara said with an enigmatic smile.

—What do you mean? —Tashigi asked, but a soldier came running to give a report.

—Vice Admiral Kara! A bunch of pirates have gathered in the execution area —the soldier reported, quickly saluting.

—Yeah, yeah, we'll go… —Before finishing her sentence, Kara felt something—. Mmm… You guys go ahead. I'm going to meet an acquaintance. By the way, Zoro, just beat up Luffy's followers —she said before jumping onto a rooftop and disappearing.

She moved at full speed until she reached a deserted area.

—Hello, little brother. Long time no see —Kara said, addressing Sabo, who was standing next to some people she didn't recognize.

—Are these your Revolutionary comrades? —she asked, pointing at a masked man, a woman in overly revealing clothes holding a flag, a fish-man dressed like a karateka, and a young girl with medium-length orange hair.

—Hey, Kara. It's been a while —Sabo said, happy to reunite with his older sister after so long, though he still trembled a little at the thought of having to fight her.

—Yeah, yeah, cut it out. I want to go bother Luffy —Kara responded, annoyed but also happy to see Sabo—. Mmm… Ah, I see. He came to say goodbye to his little brother… You guys are just here to stall for time, aren't you? —she said, realizing something.

—Well, we'll try. After all, we don't want you to destroy all of Loguetown trying to catch him —Sabo said, pulling out his metal pipe as his body began to ignite in flames.

And yes, Sabo had eaten the Mera Mera no Mi, the fruit that was supposed to be for Ace. Meanwhile, for her other idiot brother, Kara had gotten him an even better fruit—after beating him up so he would reconsider his plans at sea.

—Hey, I wouldn't destroy… Well, people would have been in danger anyway. But since I'm bored, let's see if you've neglected your training —Kara said, adjusting her gloves with a smile as excited as it was violent.

Seeing her, Sabo and the others immediately went on guard.

Meanwhile, elsewhere, Zoro had somehow gotten separated from Tashigi and, as expected, got lost. He was walking around trying to find the city center, but with little luck, as he kept ending up in the same place where he started.

—Damn… —he muttered, stopping as he recognized the place.

Not far away, he saw someone running in his direction.

It was none other than Sanji.

—Mmm… Well, Kara said to give them a beating. So you'll do —Zoro said upon seeing him approach.
