Chapter 270: Go Up and Be a Good Baby
"Why are you laughing? Did I say something wrong?" Li Shengxue asked. She was completely clueless when it came to matters between men and women.
"Stop laughing and tell me!" Seeing Jiang Siming laughing non-stop, Li Shengxue got anxious, but it was a kind of anxiousness born from embarrassment.
Jiang Siming finally managed to hold back his laughter and said to Li Shengxue, "Just listen to that woman’s voice. She’s being so wild. If there’s any forcing going on, it’s probably her forcing the man."
"Ugh!"
Li Shengxue’s face turned red with embarrassment as she spat in frustration. But after listening closely to the sounds coming from the woods, she realized that the woman’s voice did seem a bit... loud.
"Let’s just go. I don’t want to stay here any longer," Li Shengxue grabbed Jiang Siming’s hand and pulled him away, clearly eager to leave as soon as possible.
The two of them hurriedly ran out of the park. Only after exiting did Li Shengxue regain her composure, though her face was still a little flushed.
Going on a date with Jiang Siming and running into such an embarrassing situation — it was far too awkward.
Since they could no longer go to the park, the two had no choice but to stroll aimlessly along the street. After wandering around for a while, it was almost 11 o’clock.
"Shall I take you home?" Jiang Siming asked, concerned that she might have something to do the next day.Li Shengxue hesitated for a moment before nodding and getting into the car.
Following Li Shengxue’s instructions, Jiang Siming drove her to a residential apartment complex near the police station.
Li Shengxue lived here. As a criminal investigation team leader, she had her own two-bedroom, one-living-room apartment provided by the department.
"I only stay here when I’m busy with work. Most of the time, I go back home," Li Shengxue explained to Jiang Siming.
"So, are you really that busy today? Why did you bring me here?" Jiang Siming asked, puzzled.
Li Shengxue rolled her eyes at his cluelessness. How could she dare bring him home? Her parents were there!
"Tomorrow I have to hand over some duties, so staying close to the station makes things more convenient," she said, coming up with a makeshift excuse.

"Ah, I see," Jiang Siming didn’t think too much of it.
"Um... do you want to come up for a bit?" Li Shengxue tried her best to sound natural.
Jiang Siming glanced at her and, with a sly grin, said, "Aren’t you afraid of being alone with me in your apartment? What if I do something to you?"
Li Shengxue’s face flushed as she snorted, "I’m a criminal investigator. If you try anything, I can have you subdued in no time."
"Are you sure you can beat me?" Jiang Siming raised an eyebrow.
"Of course I can. You lost to me last time, remember?" Li Shengxue said with a proud smile.
Jiang Siming chuckled. It was true that he had "lost" to her last time, but that was only because he wanted to take advantage of the situation.
"Alright, I’ll behave and be a good boy," Jiang Siming said with a grin as he got out of the car.
"You’re always so cheeky," Li Shengxue rolled her eyes, her gaze soft with amusement. She got out of the car as well and led Jiang Siming toward the apartment building.
At the entrance of the apartment building was the residential supervisor, an older woman in charge of cleaning and overseeing the building. Despite her appearance as a friendly "auntie," she was a retired officer with decades of experience in the police force. Dealing with petty criminals was child’s play for her.
Li Shengxue had just remembered the existence of this "auntie," so she quickly grabbed Jiang Siming’s hand and sped up, hoping they wouldn’t be noticed.
"Hey, Xiaoxue! Why are you coming back so late tonight? Another mission at the station?"
Unfortunately, they were still spotted. Li Shengxue’s pretty face turned bright red as she stammered, "Aunt Meng, I didn’t have a mission tonight. I just went out to hang out with a friend."
Aunt Meng’s sharp eyes spotted Li Shengxue holding hands with Jiang Siming, and she immediately understood everything.
"Oh my, Xiaoxue! You found a boyfriend and didn’t even tell me? Are you treating me like an outsider now?" Aunt Meng said, her face beaming with excitement.
Li Shengxue was so embarrassed she didn’t know how to respond.
Fortunately, Jiang Siming had thick skin and immediately responded with a smile, "Hello, Auntie. I’m Shengxue’s boyfriend. She was just too shy to tell you. You look so young, Auntie. You must really know how to take care of yourself!"
"Hahaha, you sure know how to sweet-talk, young man! No wonder you managed to win over the most beautiful policewoman at our station," Aunt Meng said, covering her mouth as she laughed.
"Aunt Meng, I’m going to take my boyfriend upstairs to sit for a bit… I’ll talk to you later." Li Shengxue quickly made her escape.
"Goodbye, Aunt Meng."
After saying that, Li Shengxue pulled Jiang Siming away as if they were fleeing, leaving Aunt Meng behind laughing knowingly like someone with experience.
All the way, she led Jiang Siming to the room where she lived, took out her key, and opened the door. This was the place where Li Shengxue usually rested and worked.
Just like her profession, the room had no clutter. It was clean and tidy, with police commendations and banners hanging all over the walls.
On the bookshelf, there were numerous trophies.
Shooting competitions, combat competitions, physical fitness competitions... and many more. She had won so many championships.
No wonder she became a criminal police captain at such a young age. Even the elite "Heaven Team" tried to recruit her.
With so many honors, it was clear that she wasn’t an ordinary person.
"I only have tea and water. Which one would you like?"
This was the first time Li Shengxue had ever brought a man home, and her nervousness showed as she busied herself offering drinks.
"I’m not thirsty, no need to bother."
Jiang Siming replied without even turning his head. His eyes were fixed on a photo displayed on a cabinet.
The photo showed a young Li Shengxue being held by a man in a military uniform, with a beautiful woman standing beside them.
The man had a heroic appearance, and on his shoulders were the insignia of two stripes and one star, symbolizing the rank of major.
Judging by the photo’s age, it had to have been taken more than ten years ago.
If he was a major back then, what rank would he be now?
"That’s my dad, that’s my mom, and the one in the middle is me," Li Shengxue walked over to introduce them.
"Is your dad still working in the military?" Jiang Siming asked curiously.
"Yeah, he’s still on duty. My grandfather has already retired," Li Shengxue nodded in response.
"Your family is a military family, huh?" Jiang Siming said in surprise.
Li Shengxue smiled but did not deny it. "Not me, though. I’m a police officer. But my older cousins and younger cousins are all in the military."
"Can I ask what positions your father and grandfather hold now? What insignia are they wearing on their shoulders?"
"My grandfather’s rank is classified, but my dad is currently a brigade commander in the Southeast Military District with the rank of major general," Li Shengxue answered honestly.
Jiang Siming felt dizzy after hearing this. Her father was a brigade commander, and her grandfather’s rank was "classified."
If it was classified, it must have been extremely high.
"Man, comparing people really is maddening," Jiang Siming said with a laugh.
Li Shengxue glanced at him a few times, her face suddenly turning red.
"I’m going to the bathroom. Wait for me a moment," she said.
"Alright, go ahead," Jiang Siming replied casually, still engrossed in examining the trophies and commendations.
Li Shengxue quickly ran to the bathroom.
After more than half an hour, she came back out, having taken a shower and changed into a fresh set of clothes.
She was now wearing a black silk nightgown, with a style that was a bit like lingerie.
Her delicate feet were bare, and she walked slowly and gracefully on the floor.
Her long black hair cascaded over her shoulders, with water droplets still clinging to the ends, giving her the look of a forest elf emerging from the misty woods.
