Chapter 2: Missing
Hogwarts!?
After hearing that name a beautiful castle came to mind. A wondrous place that everything in it seemed alive. From the walls, the doors, heck even the paintings of that place literally talks. So yeah, that castle by far is the 'most beautiful building that mankind has built, except from my works of course' Annabeth would say.
In fact I could still clearly remember her eyes literally sparkling from awe the moment we stepped foot to that castle. And to make matters worse she was prancing around like she had too much caffeine. So throughout our tour of the place I need to hold her hand like a parent does to a child just to be sure that she don't wander all on her own.
"So!?" Zeus' question brought me back from my day dream.
"Yes, I have heard of Hogwarts, and its magical community." I replied to Zeus. Honestly, when I first encountered the Wizard race I thought It would have been nice if these people joined in the war since they were powerful enough to defeat orcs. But that was just my musings. You can never really understand the Gods, even when you're dealing with them on a regular basis. So to keep my sanity, I learned to accept that there are things that I just don't know.
"Wonderful, that gives me more time to explain the current problem that world is facing." Zeus said as he controlled the mist.
The place where we are standing suddenly became foggy until it was just the two of us standing on an empty foggy place.
"The magical world is in great peril" Zeus said solemnly, The empty space suddenly shifted and I, no we, were now standing on a house that was freshly destroyed. "A malignant soul has escaped the Fields of Punishment" Zeus continued, suddenly a group of hooded individuals suddenly appeared from an empty spot as though they 'magically' appeared out of nowhere. (get it since its magic- I'm so dumb)
"The soul's name is Voldermort, a child blessed by Hecate, yet doomed by his greed for power"
I was able to see one of the face of the hooded men, his skin was pale, far paler than Nico could ever be. He looked so thin, so fragile yet I know a dangerous person when I see one. His eyes in particular was filled with nothing but hate and scorn to the world. It was almost on par with Cronos, though still lacking by a little margin.
"Ever since he escaped, the furies have been on the hunt to drag his soul back to its punishment, but apparently that wraith has a few tricks of his sleeve" Zeus added, there was an iciness in his tone though I really don't know why. "The last news we have heard from the furies was that he was spotted in Hogwarts, yet after that the furies themselves vanished into thin air."
Ohh now I see why he is upset. The furies are missing. The deities of vengeance and justice are gone. Although I have to say that the furies and I did not really had a good start, they were true to their words and probably one of the good immortals in Olympus, if they were not after your head, or does not want to punish you... to make it straight, the Erinyes are kinda complicated tsudere's if that is the current term for them of the time.
"Your quest Jackson, is the bring back the soul of this Voldemort, but more importantly, you need to find the furies and bring them back" Zeus said darkly "Or else another war may rise due to their absence."
Zeus' words suddenly made me aware of the importance of this quest. Apparently, the disappearance of the furies is enough trigger for Zeus to instigate a war or a battle that is close to it.
"Do you understand the severity of this quest now boy!?" Zeus walked closer to me and touched my shoulders. Instantly we were back at the halls of Olympus. "Find them Jackson, else the peace that was gained through the past wars be all for nought." He said as he went back to his seat of power.
"This meeting is now finished." Zeus' voice thundered "Jackson will hunt that damned soul and search the land of Britain for the furies." After he said that I suddenly found myself at the bottom of the empire state building staring dumbfoundedly at the sky.
"Hey, quit standing around here!" a pedestrian shouted loudly as he tried to push me to the side of the building. But that did not work out as he thought. Instead, he instantly rebounded and fell on his feet.
"Urghhh" The man grimaced at the sudden fall.
I turned around and walked away as though nothing happened.
"Hey, don't you dare turn your back on me punk!" The man on the floor tried to stand up and called for me but I was long gone the road before he could recover. His frustrated voice resounded across the street. Though that's just another day in New York, I guess.
