Pokémon Adventures: GAMER PATH

Chapter 164: Capture Sniped

~Azure S. POV~

[Johto Region, Days Later, Olivine City]

The rest of the journey to Olivine City was uneventful as the ship limped its way to shore. As the city came into view, its shining lighthouse a beacon in the distance, I felt a wave of relief wash over me.

We had made it. Stepping off the ship, I took a deep breath of the fresh sea air. Olivine City bustled with activity, the sounds of vendors hawking their wares and Pokémon trainers exchanging stories filling the air.

It was a vibrant, welcoming place. As we made our way through the crowd, I noticed two figures standing near the docks, their faces lit with smiles of recognition.

Oh, it's them. It was Crystal, the Capture Specialist, and Yellow, the gifted Healer.

Crystal called out, waving enthusiastically, getting my attention, "Azure! We were wondering when you'd arrive!"

Yellow stepped forward, her gentle smile radiating warmth. She also said in a happy tone, "We heard you were on your way. We wanted to be here to greet you."

I was stunned seeing them. But I was confused as I asked curiously, "Crystal? Yellow? What are you two doing here?"

Crystal grinned. Crystal, ever the whirlwind of energy, launched into an explanation as she said professionally, "Professor Oak sent us! He's researching Pokémon migration patterns in this region, and he needs our help to capture and observe various species. Along with that, I'm here to collect the Meltan to be sent over to the lab."

Yellow nodded in agreement. She bowed her head down as her own Pikachu Chuchu on her shoulder as she explained softly, "I'm here to provide medical assistance to any captured Pokémon caught by Crystal and ensure their well-being during the research process."

Figures as much. I smiled as I recalled that Yellow did come over on her own. But nowadays, she helps Prof. Oak understand Pokémon, and having a healer is always a plus on journeys.

Especially if you capture injured and ferocious Pokémon. I can see how these two could team up. I chuckled as I helplessly said, "Leave it to Professor Oak to find you two out here. It's great to see you both. How long have you been here?"

Crystal replied, her eyes sparkling excitedly as she explained happily, "We arrived a few days ago. We've already captured quite a few interesting Pokémon, including a rare Corsola near the shore and a very stubborn Miltank at a local farm."

Yellow added with a giggle as she said cheerfully, "Crystal almost got kicked by the Miltank by the way."

Crystal playfully shoved her shoulder. She pouted lightly as she said, "It was a close call! But the important thing is, we got the Miltank!"

I laughed, enjoying their unique dynamic. Handing over the Meltan's Poke Balls, Crystal blinked as I said bluntly, "Well, I'm glad to see you're both doing well. I just arrived from Cianwood City, on a cruise. I thought I was going to relax here, but I see that you two are hard at work. Here are all of Meltan's Poke Balls."

Crystal blinked, surprised as she began to transfer them with her Rotom Phone. She looked at me a bit confused as she asked, "Wait? I thought you captured just one of them, so who are these?"

I laughed a bit as I explained that I captured the leader of the group of Meltan. And as I was in the middle of the sea on a cruise boat, I captured its followers just to ensure not one of them was overboard… or ate the ship.

Plus, they're tiny, too small to see unless you get up close. They nodded in understanding when I finished explaining, sending the last Meltan back to Pallet Town for safety.

I've already contacted Steven about needing some minerals for a Pokémon that needed to eat rocks, minerals, or steel, so I can sigh in relief that these little guys won't eat the lab. If they did, I might be officially kicked out of Oak's home in Kanto.

Transferring the last one, she smiled as Crystal said, her voice filled with that signature enthusiasm I couldn't help but like, "Relaxation can wait, Azure! Come with us! We could use your help. You're an experienced trainer, and your Pokémon are incredibly strong."

Yellow nodded in agreement. She explained in a lighthearted tone, "It would be wonderful to have you join us, Azure. Your knowledge and skills would be invaluable."

Pikachu, sensing the excitement in the air, jumped down from my head and landed on Crystal's shoulder, nuzzling her cheek. Eevee licked Yellow's hand, clearly enjoying the attention. Even Celebi seemed curious, fluttering closer to the two women, her eyes studying them intently.

I hesitated for a moment. I had planned on relaxing before my match with Clair.

But the idea of contributing to Professor Oak's research and spending time with Crystal and Yellow was undeniably appealing, spending time with the Dex Holders. Besides, my Pokémon could always use the training.

Having been convinced, I said, a grin spreading across my face, "Alright. I'm in. What kind of Pokémon are you looking for next?"

Crystal clapped her hands together, her eyes shining with delight. She began to explain excitedly, "Perfect! We've been trying to track down a specific type of Magnemite that's rumored to possess a unique magnetic field. Professor Oak believes it could be a significant discovery."

Raising an eyebrow, Yellow added, which piqued my interest, "The reports say that they have a specific frequency of energy that may affect other Electric-type Pokémons. Not only that, but it's also supposedly a different coloration of a traditional Magnemite."

Shiny. That's the word that sums down hearing that. And with that, my relaxing vacation transformed into another Shiny Hunt.

Besides that, they've heard rumors of it appearing around Olivine City, according to the reports. We spent the next few hours scouring Olivine City, searching for the elusive Magnemite.

Crystal, with her boundless energy and sharp eye, led the way, while Yellow kept us all supplied with healing berries and encouragement. My Pokémon, eager to stretch their legs after the long cruise, threw themselves into the search with gusto.

Skarmory soared through the skies, scouting the area from above. Houndoom tracked scents, leading us through dense buildings and across alleyways.

Quagsire, with his laid-back demeanor, proved surprisingly adept at navigating ocean areas by asking the Water Type Pokémon nearby. Ampharos used its powerful electric sense to detect even the faintest electromagnetic signatures.

Mismagius used her illusion powers to trick and distract any Pokémon or people that got in our way, while Togepi followed nearby. And of course, Pikachu and Eevee used their sensory powers and helped as always.

It wasn't always easy. We faced challenging obstacles, encountered territorial Pokémon, and spent hours tracking false leads. There were times when I questioned whether we would ever find the Shiny Magnemite.

But Crystal and Yellow never lost their enthusiasm, and their unwavering optimism kept us going. It was turning evening, and as the sun began to set, we finally stumbled upon a clue we could actually use.

A faint electromagnetic disturbance emanated from a cluster of abandoned metal structures on the outskirts of the city. Crystal exclaimed, her voice trembling with excitement, "This is it! I can feel it! The Magnemite must be here!"

She isn't wrong. Magnemite just loves abandoned and electrical places.

We cautiously approached the structures, our senses on high alert. The air crackled with electricity, and the ground vibrated faintly beneath our feet.

As we rounded a corner, we saw them. A group of Magnemite, hovering in a circle, their bodies emitting a strange, pulsating light.

They were different from any Magnemite I had ever seen. Their metallic bodies were a darker shade of gray, and their horseshoe magnets glowed with an intense, almost unnatural electrical energy.

But circling them was our target, I'm assuming. The Shiny Magnemite is found as Yellow whispered, her eyes wide with awe, "Those are them! The Magnemite with the unique magnetic field."

The Magnemite, sensing our presence, turned to face us, its red eyes glowing menacingly. They began to charge up, preparing to attack.

I smirked as they had the gull. Choosing only one of my Poke Balls, I gave a command, hurling it out in a firm tone, "Pikachu, and Eevee absorb the electricity. Houndoom! Let's show them who's boss around here! Flamethrower!"

*Pop*

I released Houndoom from her Pokéball. Houndoom, with her fire, fired off a powerful Flamethrower, alerting the Magnemites.

*Zzzzz*

*Sssss*

The Magnemite retaliated with a volley of Thunder Shocks and Metal Sounds. The battle was intense, the air filled with the crackling of electricity and the clang of metal.

But with Pikachu and Eevee evolving into Jolteon managed to absorb the electricity effortlessly. And with Metal Sounds, while annoying, only debuffed my Houndoom as it unleashed a stream of fire.

However, the Magnemite were surprisingly resilient, their magnetic fields deflecting many of our attacks. The clash was fierce, and as the battle raged, I noticed the Magnemite seemed to act in unison, as if controlled by one entity.

It piqued my interest, as I knew that it was quite unusual for a regular wild Magnemite. But from what I can tell, they're following this Shiny Magnemite fiercely, making me wonder what it really is empowering it?

Seeing how things stood, I sighed as I let Pikachu into the fold, declaring, "Sigh… this is getting us nowhere. Pikachu. Zippy Zap."

*BOOOM*

*ZOOOOM*

Instantly, the battle shifted as Pikachu became a blur of electricity. It bashed through the Magnemites, defeating them all in one hit, landing critical hits as it returned to my side, as a trail of electricity followed, "Pika!"

*Thud*

All the Magnemite fainted as Yellow and Crystal looked stunned. But I shouted getting Crystal's attention, "Now's our chance! Crystal, use your Poke Balls!"

*BON*

Crystal, seizing the opportunity, quickly pulled out her specially designed Poke Balls and aimed them at the Magnemite group on the ground. A beam of light shot out, engulfing the group of Pokémon.

For a moment, nothing happened. Then, with a series of soft clicks, the capture device indicated success. Crystal had captured all the Magnemite –

*CRACK*

Correction. Almost all, as the Shiny Magnemite broke out.

Everyone tensed as Houndoom was preparing for battle. But before anyone could do anything in that moment…

*BONK*

Crystal went ahead and succeeded in capturing the elusive Shiny Magnemite. By kicking the living shit out of her Poke Ball, aiming directly at the eye.

*BON*

This time no resistance whatsoever. She casually grabbed as she said confidently, "See, it wasn't so hard."

My soul aches in pain from her saying that. She fucking Captured Sniped me… is this what it feels like to be cocked block or acticentally killing/missing a Shiny Pokemon?

But returning myself to reality, I shook my head. I prayed for Karma to happen to her.

Raising an eyebrow at Crystal as she grabs the Poke Ball. I saw sparks from the Poke Ball, making me smile knowingly as I chuckled lightly, "Yeah… good luck with that."

*Zzzz*

Crystal flinched as she yelped in pain, "Ow! Why you little…!!"

The Shiny Magnemite retaliated by shocking her within its Poke Ball. Yellow rubs her face with her finger on her chin as she says lightly, "Magnemite probably didn't like getting hit in the face, did it..?"

I nodded sagely, adding, "Yup!"

We both chuckled lightly as Crystal was having issues getting the captured Pokémon to Prof. Oak via her Rotom Phone. As much as battling and tagging along with these two was fun and all, I should probably get back to my journey after this.

I mean, having companions is fun and all, but if I had known this beforehand, I would've kept that Shiny Magnemite. But I suppose I could enjoy some minor adventures from time to time… so long as no one captures or snipes me at least for a Shiny Pokémon.

Besides that, facing off against Pryce or Clair would be interesting. But the question is, would I use my Main Team against Pryce, or use my Johto Team to see if I could've defeated him...

Actually? What level is that old man's Pokémon?
