Chapter 325: 325. Muscles
May's Gorebyss completed her evolution just like Ash told her it will, so the group couldn't wait to reach their first destination, Nonexistent Island, once better known as Muscle Island.
But before that, Ash and his group, along with Team Rocket, mended the relationship between Island B and Island C.
This was a quite small island, and it was not that far away from Mossdeep City, but even so, the scale of the Pokémon Contest going to be held here was still pitifully small compared to even Nonexistent Town.
After landing on the island on their rented boat, Ash and his team rushed to the venue of the Pokémon Contest. After being delayed these days over lots of small things, the Pokémon Contest was about to begin again.
"Okay, let's go!" A loud voice came, and then many people were heard shouting "One, Teo, One, Two".
This reminded Ash of the training he saw Chuck do back when he was traveling around the Johto Region with Brock and Misty.
'Is there also one of those martial arts dojos here?'
When Ash noticed this, his eyes suddenly lit up with the signs of point.
Ever since he arrived in the Hoenn Region, he has never passed through a dojo, meaning no prize for his. Although there is the new Pokémon Contest he uses to earn his Exchange Points, he always feels that something was missing from it.
There was no passionate atmosphere, the atmosphere where you are trying your best to fight and win like he faced before. After all, people still have to participate in a Pokémon competition, where strength does matter, so they can only do their best.
Following the source of the sound and taking a few more steps forward, Ash was overjoyed by the scene in front of him.
Although this was not a dojo like he had hoped, most of the Trainers and Pokémon's here seems to have at least some decent qualities as fighters, and also some with some experience. They were doing some kind of performance training with their Pokémon's.
There was a beautiful athletic girl who was doing sit-ups with her Blastoise while pressing her legs.
A strong looking man holding onto two Geodudes as if they are his dumbbells without moving, and there was another man holding an Electrode to do squats.
All of their muscles looked very defined and obvious.
"The atmosphere here is so warm and string." May can already feel the heat despite it not even being that sunny here.
"Could all of these people be..." Max wanted to say is all of these people were all here to participate in the Pokémon Contest?
But these people obviously have one thing in common, that is, they are all exercising their bodies instead of their Pokémon's, the Pokémon's in this case are jsyt support or even a gym tool for them.
This was anything but training for a something like a Pokémon Contest.
"If my guess is correct, they should be doing special training for Pokémon battles." Brock said his hypothesis, which actually wasn't that far from the truth.
"Everyone is doing a great job, keep it up!" In the middle of this group of dedicated people was a muscular young man began to encourage these people. He must have been the instructor or a coach of this group of muscle maniacs. "The secret to Pokémon Battles lies in the muscles of the Trainer! Without a well-trained body, it is impossible to win in a battle!"
Ash was stunned when he heard this, just muscles?
Although Trainer's physical fitness was indeed an important to their overall performance, after all, the battle between Pokémon is sometimes very long and can put a lot of strain on the brain and even the body because of this. It is mostly in a large-scale battle that tests a Trainer's mental and physical strength, not a small one on battle or the likes.
But to say that this is the absolute secret to winning a battle would be too one-sided and false, and it also ignores the fact that it is the Pokémon's themselves that do the barreling, not the Trainers, unless they are someone with special powers like Ash and Sabrina.
And something else is it also fails to notice the importance of the Bond betweena Trainer and their Pokémon. Though spending time with them like this can work, it's often something most people overlook.
While Asv was secretly commenting on their thinking process, the man noticed the new group on the side and said, "Good morning, everyone! I guess this is your first time on our island, right?"
"I didn't expect our once Muscle Island, now Nonexistent Island, to hold one of the Pokémon Contest recently! This is the first time there are so many Pokémon Trainers on the island at once! But it seems that you guys landed on the wrong side of the island! Most Pokémon Trainers and regular people first take a ship to Mossdeep City and then transfer to our island!"
May nodded and said, "Yes, we are going to participate in the Pokémon Contest, and then we will take a boat to Mossdeep City to challenge the Pokémon Gym there." Their journey had been re-planned a couple of times already, plus, this kind of trip to the archipelago has a unique flavor to is, and she was also able to catch her beautiful Gorebyss because of coming here.
"The venue for the Pokémon Contest is at the pier where the boat goes to Mossdeep City. After you walk out of this forest, you can reach it not long after you walk out!" This muscular young man was called Rocky, and he was extremely enthusiastic to guide everyone around this part of the island.
After everyone introduced themselves, Rocky looked at Ash, who had a unique look, as if he knew Ash from somewhere but just couldn't pick point from just where. He was surrounded by three of his Pokémon, "Ash, you are a Pokémon Trainer, right?"
He wanted to ask if Ash was here as a Pokémon Coordinator or was he just a Pokémon Trainer traveling the region.
"Yes, I'm a Pokémon Trainer, but I also participate in some Pokémon Contests for fun." Ash replied with a smile.
"Is that so? That's such a pity!" Rocky looked at Ash with some fire in his eyes.
He could feel that Ash was definitely a very strong Trainer, and his fighting spirit could not help but burn, wanting to fight him.
The same was true for Ash. He also wants to know how strong this Trainer, who focuses mostly on his own physique, was.
"May, looks like you're going to have to alone this time in this Pokémon Contest!" Ash suddenly said in his usual calm demeanor.
May and Max immediately exclaimed, "Ash (Big Bro), what are you going to do?"
Ash simply looked at Rocky in front of him and then the others next to him, "I want to challenge all of you, it would be a great warm up for what's to come soon enough."
Ash can feel something off about the nature, both his Aura Sense and Viridian Force were going haywire. As if something massive was going to break out soon.
Even though he didn't know what it was going to be, he needed to be prepared for it, just in case it was something of Legendary caliber.
Ash even thought it must have been his connection with his Rayquaza, and his connection to Kyogre and Groudon.
Team Aqua and Team Magma must have been behind this, he needed to deal with them once this league was over.

Everyone here could feel Ash's powerful fighting spirit. It was a rare opportunity for Ash to have suck battles after coming to the Hoenn Region. The last time something like this happened was a few weeks back in the Battle Tower in LaRousse City.
Ash will never miss an opportunity like this, unless something more important layers come up.
The battle begins as soon as they stood in the opposite side.
Max and Brock both accompanied May to participate in the Pokémon Contest. This time without Asg supporting her from the sides like he always does, May had to fight even more brilliantly and get her next Pokémon Contest Ribbon here.
She wanted to prove to Ash that all the time he had spent in her was worthwhile. That she was worthy to stand next to him and his other women.
"Ash, ordinary Pokémon battles are no fun for me after battling like that for so long! How about taking out two Pokémon each and having a double battle?"
The battle venue was chosen to be on the beach where Ash and his party had landed on. The terrain here was very flat and there were also a lot of gravel.
How to properly use this terrain to fight at one's maximum strength and speed was one of the first big test for Pokémon Trainer here.
Because it was a challenge from Ash, Rocky had the choice of the battle venue, so he requested a double battle from ash's.
Ash had no reason to refuse this, in fact this could help his get better at that format for the future, "Alright then, I can't ask for anything more!"
"Okay, then I'll take my Pokémon's out first!" Rocky's fighting spirit was burning very hot. He was the strongest among this group of people, the ones he had trained for so long, and he was confident that his strength will not lose to Ash, especially not in his home court.
"Come on, Quagsire, Walrein!" After all, they had trained on this island for most of their lives. Rocky's two Pokémon were both dual Wayer-types, and their secondary types were different.
Quagsire was a dual Water-type and Ground-type, while Walrein was a dual Water-type and Ice-type Pokémon. This was a very good type combination, and the environment here was also more suitable for Water-type Pokémon's like them to show most of their strength.
And although this was a beach area, it was still some away from the actual sea. Both of these Pokémon can move on the ground. In comparison, Ash will be at a huge disadvantage if he sends out his Sharpedo, a Pokémon that can't move on land and only on water.
Therefore, the combination for this battle had been determined by him after a second of thought, "It's up to you, Milotic, Ralts!"
Ash sent out the beautiful girls to challenge the muscular man and his slow Pokémon's.
"Okay, let's go, Walrein, use Ice Ball!" Rocky took the lead in launching the first attack, using the Ice Ball attack.
This skill was very similar to the Rollout many Rock-types and Ground-types can use. The power of this move will increase with each successive hit, so Rocky was using this skill as soon as he came up to build up a more powerful momentum for his side. It was a very well thought out choice.
And in doubles battles, such skills have more possibilities as they can gain more help from their teammates.
"Teleport! Water Pulse!"
Because the Bond Value between Ash and his girls, Ralts and Milotic, were so high, there was no need for Ash to even say anything at all.
He just was to make sure that Rocky wasn't too confused about this and began to forget to command his Pokémon's.
Ralts' figure disappeared in an instant pink and white light, and Milotic's Water Pulse almost hit its afterimage.
The powerful power of Ash's Milotic easily shattered the layers off Walrein's Ice Ball, and the remaining strength turned the remaining water into ice shards and smashed them towards Quagsire and Walrein with great control from Ralts.
"Walrein, hurry and cover Quagsire up!" He knew his Walrein had the Thick Fat ability, and with its own Ice-type, the ice damage from the opponent was going to have lityel effect on it.
Rocky was very good at using two Pokémon to cover each other to cross-attack, but he still didn't know who he was battling against.
But obviously in this doubles battle, his thinking was much worse and slower than Ash's.
"Ally Switch! Dragon Tail!"
Milotic's figure suddenly disappeared in a white light and appeared behind Quagsire in an instant. The shining purple tail hit his head hard into the ground.
"How can that be?"
Rocky's eyes widened in surprise. He never expected that his situation would suddenly become like this. His Quagsire was just under the cover of Walrein to avoid the attack. Why was it suddenly knocked down? And why didn't he even notice that?
Just now, Ralts used her Teleport to hide behind a piece of gravel not far from Quagsire and was controlling the ice pieces created by her partner Milotic, and she then used her Ally Switch move to swap her position with the Milotic that was ready to pummel.
This was what made Milotic seem to suddenly appear behind Quagsire and score a perfect hit like that.
"Nothing is impossible." Ash smiled slightly. He spent a lot of effort to teach his young adorable Ralts how to properly learn Ally Switch skill in order to achieve perfect control of the field in doubles battles.
She had spent a lot of times with his Slowking and the Eon Duo to learn from them.
Now, everything is worth it.
"Walrein, use Ice Ball again!" Rocky gritted his teeth and ordered his Walrein to attack again. The power of this second Ice Ball was indeed stronger than the first one, but by barely.
"Disarming Voices!"
Double Disarming Voice.
Both girls, big and small, can use this move very precisely, and they could now release a 360-degree surrounding sound from where they were, one behind the other.
Walrein's Ice Ball didn't even have time to form completely, and it felt like its head had been screwed up by Diddy.
"Psybeam! Twister!"
This was the final blow, a double blow, which will completely wipe out the reat of Walrein's combat effectiveness.
Ash's current strength was simply something that almost no one in the world can match up to.
