Chapter 231: Pokémon: Breeding Simulator [231]
"A promise?"
"Yes. Yours, little fox."
Giratina laughed maliciously, though the flames of fury burned brighter than ever in its eyes.
For years, this little fox had been toying with it, treating it like a fool.
Giratina had offered so much—good things, sincerity—but this fox had never genuinely considered cooperation.
Had it not sensed something wrong at the last moment, Giratina would have ended up captured, even after leaving the Distortion World.
"You don't plan on keeping your promise?"
Zoroark frowned, displeased.
This fat centipede isn't as obedient as I'd thought.
Its earlier words particularly unsettled her.
"Oh, I'll definitely keep my promise," Giratina replied, barely containing its excitement. "Those two clans, and the new Galaxy Team—I'll annihilate every last one of them."
How long had it been since Giratina felt emotions as intense as today?
"However…" Giratina turned its gaze upon Zoroark, malice dripping from its voice, "before I wipe out the Hisuians, there's still something I need."
"Something?"
"What thing?" Zoroark asked instinctively, stepping back half a pace involuntarily.
As a Baneful Fox Pokémon, she was startled by the massive wave of malevolence she sensed suddenly emanating from Giratina.
She narrowed her eyes, identifying the malicious intent clearly from Giratina itself.
Whatever it lacked—it definitely involved her!
Confirming her suspicion, Giratina dropped its pretense altogether. Its eyes greedily locked onto Zoroark, and it said, "You have my [Spooky Plate], don't you? Hand it over."
The [Spooky Plate]—the Ghost-type Plate—had belonged to it for countless centuries. Giratina had temporarily lent it to Volo during their cooperation. Who would've guessed that the human would fail so miserably, even losing the Plate?
For Giratina, a Ghost-type itself, the Plate significantly boosted its strength.
At Giratina's demand for her Plate, Zoroark's expression instantly turned fierce.
The reason she hadn't thrown the [Spooky Plate] into the lake wasn't only because it boosted her own power, but mainly because Elias had given it to her as a gift.
She would never give it up.
"Impossible. Don't even think about it!" she growled, clutching the Plate tighter.
The air grew heavier, charged with tension.
Zoroark acted swiftly, flinging several [Shadow Balls] directly at Giratina.
Whoosh—
[Shadow Balls] whizzed through the air, crackling with friction.
BOOM!
Several [Shadow Balls] struck Giratina squarely, explosions shaking the ground.
Seeing her opportunity, Zoroark hurled the [Origin Ball] concealed in her claws, hoping the smoke would mask her action.
Her face lit with relief as the [Origin Ball] drew closer to Giratina.
Almost…
Capturing Giratina would mark the halfway success of her mission. Elias wouldn't be disappointed in her.
Under Zoroark's anxious gaze, the [Origin Ball] tapped Giratina gently.
Thud!
The crimson ball opened, bathing Giratina's body in red light.
But…
That was it. Giratina seemed utterly unaffected by the red glow enveloping it.
Instead, the [Origin Ball] hovering in mid-air began to creak ominously, trembling visibly.
As the smoke dissipated, Giratina's unharmed form reappeared.
Clearly, the usually formidable [Shadow Balls] had barely scratched it.
"Little fox, didn't anyone ever tell you? To capture a Pokémon, you must first weaken it through battle." Giratina gloated. "And... for legendary Pokémon, ordinary Poké Balls are utterly useless."
With a casual flick, a dark claw appeared beside Giratina.
Slash!
The [Origin Ball] shattered easily into fragments, the ball that could supposedly capture any Pokémon now destroyed effortlessly.
Zoroark's mind went blank instantly.
She stared numbly at the shattered pieces, her pupils contracting in shock.
Why?
Why couldn't the [Origin Ball] catch Giratina?
Why had the [Origin Ball] been destroyed so easily?
Questions buzzed chaotically through her mind, overwhelming her.
But one thing was clear: she'd messed up again—and this time, the consequences were far worse.
"Elias..." she whispered bitterly, knees growing weak.
"All right. Hand over the Plate." Giratina continued lightly, "As thanks for freeing me, I'll wait until after I've dealt with your trainer before I deal with you."
Giratina's words snapped Zoroark back from her daze instantly.
This monster wants to harm Elias?!
Fear and rage surged simultaneously through her.
She knew, no matter what, she couldn't let it touch Elias!
In the next instant, several dark [Shadow Claws] materialized around Zoroark and slashed violently at Giratina.
But before the attack landed, Giratina scoffed dismissively.
Its greatest advantage over other legendary Pokémon was its sheer toughness.
Forget this attack—Giratina could withstand several [Judgments] from Arceus without issue.
With that confidence, Giratina lightly flapped its wings, launching its massive body directly at Zoroark. A faint golden glow enveloped its scales.
[Ancient Power]
BOOM!
CRASH!
As the [Shadow Claws] collided with Giratina, the Ghost Dragon simultaneously slammed into Zoroark.
Though she barely managed to use [Protect], the sheer force still hurled her back painfully.
"Ugh..." Zoroark groaned, slowly pushing herself back up.
The [Spooky Plate] remained clutched desperately to her chest.
Casting one last glance at Giratina, she dissolved into a dark shadow, sinking into the ground and swiftly fleeing the scene.
She had to find Elias and get him away.
She absolutely could not let this monster harm Elias.
