Chapter 230: Pokémon: Breeding Simulator [230]
Hm?
As Zoroark stepped inside, she paused in surprise.
The house was empty. No lights, no sound—there was no sign anyone was home.
Cogita's out?
Zoroark guessed, feeling a flicker of disappointment.
When she reached the wooden table, she spotted the note Cogita had left for Elias:
[Elias, I have something to do tonight and won't be home. Don't worry about me, and remember to rest well after your long day.]
It was a short message, written in a hurried, messy hand—obviously left on short notice.
Zoroark set the note back down on the table.
Well, maybe it's for the best Cogita isn't here.
She wouldn't get her revenge today, but it did save her some time.
With that, she gathered Elias into her arms and started up the stairs.
The room she shared with Elias was upstairs, and all the Plates they'd collected were stored there too.
Ever since Akari arrived, their Plate collection had grown much faster.
Akari would find one or two Plates every now and then—almost as if someone was setting them right in her path.
After all these months, only the [Zap Plate], [Iron Plate], and [Flame Plate] were still missing. The rest were all safely gathered.
"Elias?"
Just as she reached the second floor, Zoroark heard a cautious voice.
Turning, she saw Akari slipping out of her own room, peering at Zoroark with a puzzled look.
When she realized Elias was being carried, Akari's expression shifted to concern.
"Zoroark, what happened to Elias? Is he hurt?" she whispered.
Ever since arriving in Hisui, Elias had always looked out for her. She'd worried already when he went out late last night—and seeing this, her mind raced with anxious possibilities.
But before she could say more, it was like something struck her hard across the head.
Her vision went black and her consciousness faded.
After putting Akari to sleep with an illusion, Zoroark wasted no time heading for her room.
She couldn't deny: their progress all hinged on Akari bringing back so many Plates.
Without them, Giratina would never have been able to enter the real world.
Thinking about that, she gently laid Elias on the bed.
She glanced at him, still lost in his illusion, and swallowed nervously.
Somehow… Elias smells even better when he's dreaming.
It made Zoroark regret not using illusion to put him to sleep before—she'd only ever used it sparingly, when he was having trouble.
No matter—there's plenty of time ahead. If she brought it up, Elias would probably agree to more.
With a soft, reluctant sigh, Zoroark turned away.
She dragged out the wooden chest from beneath the bed.
Inside were all the Plates Elias had kept.
It's time.
Taking a deep breath, Zoroark's eyes hardened.
She lifted the chest and leaped out the upstairs window in one fluid motion.
Landing smoothly, she hurried out of the yard, running a good distance away.
She only stopped when she reached the shore of a distant lake, far from where Elias slept.
"Fat centi—Giratina, come out," she called, staring at the still water.
As her voice echoed, ripples spread across the mirror-like lake, a crack forming at its center.
Crimson eyes flickered to life within the gap.
"Hehehe, looks like you've made up your mind?"
Giratina's voice was friendly on the surface, but a mouthful of jagged fangs gleamed beneath the smile.
He'd been watching Zoroark closely these past two days.
And yes, he'd heard her mutter "fat centipede" under her breath just now.
"Are you sure you can help me get revenge on the Hisui people?" Zoroark tightened her grip on the chest of Plates.
"I guarantee it," Giratina answered.
He felt nothing but disdain for the Hisui people and their worship of Arceus. If he could wipe them all out at once, he'd be happy.
He didn't consider this lying to Zoroark.
She narrowed her eyes at his reply.
She didn't really trust his promise.
But…
She glanced at the two [Origin Balls] at her waist, feeling a surge of confidence.
Just in case, she'd tested one on her way here by catching a Snorlax—an alpha, much larger than normal.
Sure enough, even at full strength, that Snorlax was captured with ease.
If Giratina tried anything, she'd just catch him on the spot.
"Alright then. Just keep your end of the bargain," she said, dumping all the Plates from the chest into the lake.
At the same time, her other paw hovered over a Poké Ball at her side.
Elias… I'm almost there.
This time, I'll make sure you see what I can do.
As Zoroark steeled herself, Giratina could barely contain his excitement on the other side.
Plates—real Plates!
He was missing a few, but it didn't matter. The ones here were more than enough for him to shatter the barrier and cross from the Distortion World into the real one.
As for the rest, he could hunt them down later.
Arceus, this time… looks like I win!
His crimson eyes burned brighter, and he couldn't help but laugh.
Once he had won, he'd send Arceus packing to the Distortion World, let him feel what it was like to be turned upside down.
"ROAR—"
With a thunderous cry, the Plates at the bottom of the lake rose into the air.
Beams of light shot from each Plate, converging on Giratina.
Blinding light flooded the sky over the lake.
As Giratina's presence grew stronger, Zoroark's heart raced faster.
He's even stronger than I imagined…
Can I do this?
She glanced at the Poké Ball at her waist.
But then she remembered the legend—[Origin Ore] subdues all.
Steeling herself, she held her ground.
BANG!
As Giratina's energy peaked, the Plates flew to his side, arranging themselves evenly around him.
The barrier between worlds shattered in that instant.
Rising slowly from the lake, Giratina tasted the fresh air.
Even an empty forest like this was infinitely better than the Distortion World.
"Arceus…"
He snarled the name, voice low and menacing.
You're free now, so keep your promise, Zoroark said, wary.
Standing before Giratina, the pressure was overwhelming.
Behind her back, she'd already grabbed an [Origin Ball].
