Pokemon: Hundredfold Power Surge

Chapter 39: CHAPTER 38

038 Resource Rewards Worth Two Million! The Strong in the Pokémon World Are Not Alone

"Representing Jiang Cheng No. 3 Middle School in Petalburg City's Spring High School Competition!"

Principal Ma's voice carried a weight of authority, his sharp gaze fixed on Qin Yun, scrutinizing his every reaction.

"...What?"

Su Leyan nearly jumped out of her chair in disbelief.

Serena's expression also turned serious, her delicate brows furrowing.

"Qin Yun isn't eligible for the Petalburg City Spring High School Competition, is he?" Su Leyan finally found her voice.

"The current Qin Yun, indeed, does not meet the qualifications." Ma Xiao nodded in acknowledgment. "To participate in the Spring High School Competition, one must either place in a national-level tournament or earn eight Gym Badges by the end of January next year. As it stands, he has neither."

Serena and Su Leyan exchanged glances. They both knew the difficulty of earning eight Gym Badges in such a short time. Even elite trainers had to dedicate years of effort to reach that level.

"But if you agree to participate, Qin Yun," Principal Ma continued, "then I will personally approve your one-year vacation. Otherwise, I can only grant you one month."

Qin Yun smiled knowingly. This was a negotiation.

"Principal Ma, I already won the six-school joint examination for the school," Qin Yun said, his voice steady.

Principal Ma felt a slight headache coming on. This kid wasn't easy to deal with. Any other student would have jumped at the opportunity.

"And if I participate in the Spring High School Competition, it's also bringing honor to the school," Qin Yun continued, rubbing his fingers together in the universal gesture for money.

Serena and Su Leyan were stunned. Was Qin Yun actually bargaining with the principal?

"Ahem… Qin Yun, our school has limited resources…"

Qin Yun turned around as if to leave.

"Wait! We can allocate 500,000 Pokémon Dollars worth of training resources for you. Anything within reason, we'll provide."

Qin Yun kept walking.

Principal Ma sighed deeply. "Fine. 2 million Pokémon Dollars, but that's my final offer! Any more and the school's budget won't allow it."

A satisfied smile formed on Qin Yun's lips. He had pushed things to their limit.

"Alright, but I don't want the resources given to me directly. Instead, I suggest the school set up a battle arena, where challengers must fight their way to the top. The final winner claims the grand prize. What do you think, Principal?"

Principal Ma blinked. "You're saying you don't want the 2 million outright, but you want to earn it through battles?"

Even Serena and Su Leyan didn't understand Qin Yun's reasoning.

"Yes," Qin Yun confirmed. "If we do it this way, it won't just be 2 million it'll attract challengers, bets, sponsors… The final reward pool could reach 200 million Pokémon Dollars or more."

Everyone was stunned.

200 million?!

If this were a regular school competition, that amount would be impossible. But if elite trainers from all over Jiang Cheng participated, it could indeed snowball into something massive.

"I only need 1.5 million in resources upfront, and a 100,000 Pokémon Dollar cash reward," Qin Yun added. "That money can be multiplied several times over with the right investments."

Principal Ma exhaled. "Fine. But organizing the tournament will take at least half a month."

"Good. Then it's settled."

Qin Yun beamed. That was exactly the time he needed.

The six-school joint exam had been a huge success, but he wasn't complacent. Jiang Cheng's No.1 High School had yet to participate, and he needed more power to truly stand at the top.

A Night at Home, A Journey Begins

That night, Qin Yun returned home, spending precious time with his parents and younger sister. The next morning, with his backpack slung over his shoulder, he set out under their reluctant gazes.

His destination: the dense forests on the outskirts of Jiang Cheng.

The Battle Arena Tournament would be held in 17 days, so Qin Yun planned to train in the wilderness until the night before.

This was the first time he would be away from home for so long. Though a part of him felt reluctant, he hardened his resolve.

"The road to strength is destined to be lonely."

He gripped the three Poké Balls at his waist and smiled.

"But in the Pokémon world, I'll never truly be alone."

Three Poké Balls trembled slightly in response, as if his Pokémon could feel his emotions.

Kirlia, Fomantis, Torchic.

He whispered their names, feeling their presence.

As long as they were with him, he would never be alone.

A Familiar Pokémon Center

The journey to the outskirts wasn't difficult. Qin Yun had been here before, so the path was familiar.

Upon arriving at the Pokémon Center, he was surprised to find himself somewhat of a local celebrity.

"Brother Qin Yun! You were amazing in the six-school joint exam!" A young nurse called out as soon as she saw him. "First place! You're definitely Jiang Cheng's top high school trainer!"

Hearing this, Qin Yun took a step back in shock.

"Hold on No. 1 High School didn't participate. Calling me 'Jiang Cheng's strongest' is a bit much."

"Haha, still humble as ever." The nurse laughed.

"But seriously, the rumor has already spread. You should be careful. The students from No. 1 High School won't take this lightly. You'll likely be challenged nonstop."

Qin Yun narrowed his eyes.

Looks like training in the wild isn't the only thing I need to prepare for.
