Pokémon: Rebron as Red, The Strongest Champion

Chapter 74: Chapter 74: The Art of War vs. The Art of Killing

"Return, Onix, Scyther!"

Red recalled his two Pokémon. Against a Crobat of similar strength, Scyther had no chance; its proud Bug-type moves would only have a quarter of their usual effect, a pure waste of stamina. Although Onix had a type advantage, its massive body was hindered by the narrow battlefield, making it unable to effectively fight the agile Crobat.

Another wind blade sliced through the air. Red reacted instantly, easily dodging Crobat's sneak attack. He looked at the grinning Dan, his expression turning grim. "You truly are a treacherous fellow!"

"How can you say that about me, Red-kun~" Dan teased, clearly enjoying toying with his opponents. Unfortunately for him, Red hadn't taken a single hit, which somewhat dampened Dan's spirits. The jovial Team Rocket captain didn't notice the chilling coldness gradually emanating from Red's eyes.

"Since you want to compare speed, I'll leave it to you, Pidgeot!"

Red threw the Poké Ball, and the Golden Pidgeot shot out like a bolt of lightning, swiftly attacking Crobat.

"Wing Attack!" Dan commanded.

Crobat's wings glowed white, clashing with Pidgeot, who also used Wing Attack. After several rounds, Pidgeot was the first to show a weakness, forced to create distance from the bat Pokémon.

(To be honest, the base stats of the initial regional bird, Pidgeot, are really low. None of them surpass Crobat. Only after Mega Evolution does Pidgeot's special attack surpass Crobat's, but only its special attack…)

"Where is your starter Pokémon? I heard it's a Beedrill, just like Lord Giovanni's. Why don't you send it out?" Dan asked curiously, stroking his chin. At his silent command, Crobat once again used Air Cutter to strike at Red. Pidgeot reacted immediately, using its own Air Cutter to cancel out the attack.

"Oh dear, it seems it was defended against again!" Dan waved his hand helplessly. "Kid, you know, in the adult world of Pokémon battles, the trainer profession is quite dangerous. After all, my battle philosophy is that as long as the trainer is defeated, their Pokémon will also be affected and unable to fight!"

As soon as the words fell, Dan's eyes filled with murderous intent. He pulled a hidden dagger from his waist and lunged, stabbing fiercely toward Red's face.

Pidgeot panicked and tried to fly Red to safety, but the ever-observant Crobat found its opening. It struck with a vicious Cross Poison, landing a critical hit. Fortunately, the poison did not take hold.

"Idiot!" Red easily dodged Dan's attack and, with a smooth motion, kicked the man hard in the abdomen. The powerful force nearly made Dan foam at the mouth; he had no idea Red was so terrifyingly strong.

"You fool, worry about my safety when you're strong enough to defeat me," Red said helplessly, stroking Pidgeot's injured wing and using his Viridian Power to heal it.

"Pi~"

Pidgeot rubbed its cheek against Red's, embarrassed. It had been so flustered that it had forgotten it couldn't even defeat its own trainer, yet it had been distracted and ignored Crobat.

"As expected of an enemy acknowledged by Lord Giovanni!" Dan slowly stood up, his playful expression turning grim. He took off his glasses and crushed them, and a bone-chilling killing intent erupted from his blood-red eyes, synchronizing with the Crobat above.

The Art of Killing!

A terrifying murderous aura exploded from Dan and Crobat, engulfing everything like a raging wave. The Pidgeot flying above trembled under this oppressive pressure. Crobat seized the opportunity and struck its body again with Air Cutter.

"A battle aura formed by killing intent? It seems your hands are stained with the blood of many creatures," Red said coldly, slowly pulling down his hat. The shadow covered his right face, and his exposed left eye gradually turned crimson. "You were the one who proposed using the lives of wild Pokémon to experiment with the Master Ball, weren't you?!"

The Art of War!

The original killing intent was swallowed by another, more powerful aura. A terrifying pressure erupted from Red, and he alone suppressed the murderous state simultaneously unleashed by Dan and Crobat.

"How is this possible?! You're actually an Aura trainer! And a very rare one with the Art of War!" Dan exclaimed in horror. He never expected that Red, at only ten years old, would possess his own battle aura—and one at the pinnacle.

"If battles between adults also involve the trainer, then I'd be very happy to participate," Red said indifferently, slowly extending his left hand. Pure Aura energy gathered in his palm, easily forming an Aura Sphere. The sight terrified Dan, who could no longer remain calm. How could such an absurd thing happen? How could a human possess a Pokémon's move?!

"What kind of monster are you?!" Dan said incredulously. If he were to take that Aura Sphere, he would be hospitalized for at least a week.

"Just a new trainer from Pallet Town."

As soon as he finished speaking, the pure Aura Sphere shot toward Dan. Crobat, seeing this, quickly used Wing Attack, intending to take the blow for its trainer.

'Stupid bat, don't forget your Pidgeot grandpa is still here!' Pidgeot boasted, transforming into a golden lightning bolt. It appeared behind Crobat and struck its vital point with a dazzling and powerful Aerial Ace.

Seeing that Dan had enough leeway to dodge, Red, feeling playful, simply gathered more Aura Spheres. Since Dan had said that true battles required the participation of the trainer, Red didn't mind happily knocking him unconscious with his own "cheap" Aura power.

(Damn it! How can there be such a monstrous human!)

Dan could no longer maintain his calm demeanor. Everything happening now was completely beyond his expectations. He had thought Red was just a talented Pokémon trainer, an ordinary boy, and believed he could defeat him by attacking him personally. He never imagined that Red's monstrousness completely surpassed that of his own Pokémon.

"My Team Captain Dan, why are you constantly dodging? Weren't you going to have a battle between trainers with me?" Red mocked, continuing to throw Aura Spheres. A terrified Dan dodged one, and it pierced the wall behind him, forming a spiderweb-like crater.

"Gulp!" Dan swallowed in fright. The murderous aura previously released by his Art of Killing had long been smothered by fear. Crobat was also deeply affected, completely unable to parry Pidgeot's continuous attacks. Pidgeot, on the other hand, boosted by the Art of War, fought with increasing ferocity, completely suppressing Crobat.

"How could I possibly surrender now! I am a follower of Lord Giovanni!"

Dan angrily pulled out his dagger and fiercely cut his own arm. The pain drove him to calm down. Seeing the Aura Sphere about to hit him, he quickly threw the dagger to consume the sphere's power, then activated his psychic arm guard, enduring the remaining damage head-on.

Having recovered, Dan released his killing intent again. Crobat, which had been suppressed by Pidgeot, also regained its battle power, once again matching its opponent.

"It seems that someone who can become a Team Captain is no simple person," Red said with slight surprise. He hadn't expected Dan to calm down so quickly and even neutralize his Aura Sphere. Although part of it was due to the psychic arm guard, Dan's own strength was undeniable.

"Sorry, old friend, I was the one who showed weakness first," Dan said, caressing Crobat's injured wing with a pained expression. He then looked at Red with a calm face. "Young man acknowledged by Lord Giovanni, let's have an excellent match!"
