Pokémon: Rewriting Ash’s Legend

Chapter 306: The Ruins of Space-Time, Michina!

Dawn was set to return to Sinnoh.

And it would be her first time traveling alone.

Of course, Ash couldn't help but worry.

He'd already stayed home for over half a month, spending time with his mother Delia.

During that time, Cynthia had occasionally dropped by for tea.

Delia had even suggested that Ash escort Dawn and Cynthia back to Sinnoh together.

Naturally, Ash didn't refuse.

However, this time, Anabel would not be joining him.

Ash called her out to the backyard, alone.

"Don't worry, Ash," Anabel smiled. "I've already decided. I'll stay here and help take care of your Pokémon. And also, I… ah—!"

Before she could finish her sentence, Ash suddenly pulled her into a tight embrace.

The warmth of his arms and his familiar scent made Anabel's cheeks instantly flush crimson.

Then—before she could react—Ash gently lowered his head.

A kiss.

Soft, fleeting, like a dragonfly brushing the water's surface.

"Thank you, Anabel," he whispered.

A kiss that lasted but a moment—yet the feeling lingered.

Ash meant every word. He knew what Anabel was doing for him.

She was now a Trainer at Elite Four level. Staying behind at his home wasn't just helping with the Pokémon—it was protecting his mother in case anything unexpected happened.

She was showing him a different kind of love—filial piety on his behalf.

"...Ash, I'll… I'll wait for you," Anabel whispered, voice barely louder than a breeze.

But to Ash, it was the most beautiful sound in the world.

"Don't worry, Anabel. I won't be gone long. Maybe a month or two at most, maybe just half a month."

Anabel nodded softly.

When Ash stepped back outside, Cynthia had arrived, standing beside Dawn.

And just like that—Ash left home once more.

On the road, Ash couldn't help wondering—what exactly was Team Rocket planning? Even after searching with Mewtwo, he couldn't locate their base.

Nothing could be done about it for now.

"Hey Ash, Dawn—any plans for what you'll do next?" Cynthia suddenly asked.

"Cynthia," Dawn replied with a smile, "I plan to go home and spend some time with my mom. After that, it's time to resume my journey and grow stronger!"

Ash and Pikachu turned to Cynthia.

"Do you have something in mind?" Ash asked.

"Mmhmm," Cynthia nodded. "My grandmother, Professor Carolina, has been studying an ancient ruin known as the Ruins of Space-Time. They're located in a small town in Sinnoh called Michina Town. If you two don't have other plans, I was thinking you could come with me to investigate."

Michina?

Ash's eyes narrowed as he searched his memories.

And then it clicked—Michina was the location from Arceus and the Jewel of Life—the climax of the "Sinnoh Movie Trilogy!"

Of course he'd go. With ruins to explore—and Dawn going along—Ash had no reason to refuse.

He was surprised, though, that this part of the story was brought in through Cynthia.

———

More than half a month had passed since Ash had last been in Sinnoh.

Michina was a secluded inland town.

The region was picturesque—lush mountains, clear waters, and a climate that felt like spring all year long.

Three days after leaving Pallet Town, Ash and company arrived.

"My grandmother and I have always been passionate about Sinnoh's history," Cynthia explained. "We've studied countless ruins, but when we learned that a Time-Space ruin existed here in such a small town… we were shocked. So I came to investigate."

As the sun blazed overhead, the group rested under a large tree.

"Let's go wash our faces in the lake," Dawn suggested. "Cool off a bit."

Ash stayed back, scanning the surroundings.

He could sense something.

As Cynthia and Dawn approached the lake, a swirling pillar of water suddenly shot skyward from the center of the lake!

Vrrrm! Vrrrm! Vrrrm!

The sudden surge startled Dawn.

Cynthia quickly pulled her toward the shore.

But the vortex's force only grew stronger.

In the air above, strange waves pulsed outward. The water spire pierced the sky—as though reaching into another dimension—then vanished without a trace.

"Pikachu, Thunderbolt! Disperse that column!"

"Pika—CHUUUU!!"

BOOM!

Pikachu unleashed a powerful Thunderbolt.

The water column shattered. Its pulling force vanished.

"Whew… what the heck was that? A waterspout like that… out of nowhere?" Dawn asked, panting.

"Piplup…" Piplup trembled, clearly still shaken by what had just happened.

Cynthia, now holding her Poké Ball again, stared out over the lake.

As a Champion, she had clearly sensed that something else had caused that phenomenon.

"…The Beast of Thunder… and its Guardian?"

A voice rang out from behind them—full of shock.

A young man and woman walked over, their features strikingly similar—clearly siblings.

The girl stepped forward, carefully examining Ash and Pikachu.

"My name is Sheena. This is my brother Kevin. I never imagined I'd meet the Beast of Thunder and its Guardian in my generation."

With that brief introduction, the group quickly got acquainted.

When Sheena heard Cynthia's name, she blinked in surprise—never expecting to meet someone whose name sounded so close to hers, let alone alongside Ash.

But before the moment could settle, the previously calm surface of the lake suddenly darkened.

A massive black hole opened in the sky above it.

Powerful suction began pulling the lake's waters upward once again.

The surrounding forest trembled—trees snapped in half from the sheer force!

One enormous tree, dragged loose by the wind, hurtled toward Cynthia and Dawn from behind!

It all happened in the blink of an eye—too fast for normal people to react.

Cynthia tried to shield Dawn, but she wasn't fast enough.

Sheena's brother Kevin prepared to intervene, but Ash had already moved.

Faster than anyone could follow, Ash dashed in—grabbed Cynthia and Dawn—one in each arm—

And with a single powerful kick—smashed the flying tree into splinters!

"Seriously, Giratina! Dialga! Can you two not go a single week without fighting?!"

Cynthia had nearly crashed into them while trying to protect Dawn.

Pikachu stepped forward and unleashed another bolt of lightning—

BOOOOM!!

It struck the swirling black hole, shattering it.

The lake's waters settled once more.

But this time, two great shadows floated in the sky above—

Dialga, the Temporal Dragon, and Giratina, the Emperor of the Distortion World.
