Chapter 13: Scyther Conqured

As soon as the two Pokémon burst into view, the viewers were struck with a wave of shock.. Watching the fierce battle unfold between Gabite and Black Scyther ignited a spark of excitement on their face, which lit up brightly with enthusiasm! They found it impossible to divert their gaze for even a moment, captivated by the fierce competition.

At the same time, the admissions offices of several prestigious universities began to focus on the live broadcast of the graduation assessment in Velmor. Cameras captured every moment of Adrian's exceptional performance, and his eyes gleamed with determination and passion as he showcased his skills.

Suddenly, the live broadcast director switched the scene, diverting attention away from the Pokémon battle.

Frustration bubbled over as the teacher, unable to contain his anger, let out a string of curses. Feeling equally shafted, the students erupted in a chorus of shouts and complaints. Phones rang off the hook in the live broadcast room, with callers clamoring for updates like snowflakes swirling in a storm.

"We demand to see the battle between the two Pokémon! Stop showing us silly fruit-picking segments! What in the world is going on?!" one voice protested loudly.

"If the epic battle isn't being aired, then what's the point of this broadcast?" another voice sounded irate.

"Has the channel director lost his mind?" came a third frustrated shout.

Within minutes, even the head of the live broadcasting platform picked up his phone to express his concern. "I understand that the graduation assessment isn't just about a single individual, but special circumstances warrant special treatment. When can we expect to see the live broadcast of an exciting Pokémon battle each year?"

Director Wilslow nodded, his brow furrowed with worry. He assured the caller that he would immediately switch the camera back to the battle. After hanging up, his palms grew sweaty against the cool surface of the electronic screen.

The director had made a decision that stemmed from personal interest—he had relatives participating in the graduation assessment and had unintentionally given them extra screen time. He had never anticipated the magnitude of the backlash he would face.

In a matter of five minutes, a deluge of phone calls and inquiries from influential figures demonstrated that the live broadcast had spun out of control, far beyond Director Winslow's expectations. As he reflected, his assessment of Adrian elevated to a new level of respect.

Steeling himself, he resolved that regardless of the circumstances, Adrian must receive high praise during this year's graduation assessment. Perhaps if Adrian went on to achieve greatness in the future, he might remember this moment of support.

Director Winslow swiftly regained control of the broadcasting situation. The camera swung back to the Lost Forest, where Black Scyther, having deftly avoided two consecutive blows, conjured two clones that glimmered with an intimidating shine.

"It's Double Team!" the audience recognized, their excitement palpable. Adrian, sensing the escalating tension, was not surprised that Scyther wasn't going to yield easily, especially given that Gabite was slightly outmatched in raw combat power.

Soon, two Black Scyther stood poised, their gleaming scythes intersecting to create a striking 'X' formation. With synchronized precision, they prepared to unleash an impressive attack. The air around them shimmered with energy as they initiated a powerful Slash aimed directly at Gabite.

"Gabite, use Bulldoze and Rock Slide!" Adrian shouted, his voice steady and commanding. Recognizing the need for a strategic response to Scyther's incredible speed, he quickly ordered the moves, channeling the power of Viridian. His palms glowed faintly with a vibrant green light as he harnessed the energy around him.

However, at that moment, the live broadcast maintained its unwavering focus on the two battling Pokémon, forcing all attention away from the trainer who orchestrated the intense showdown.

As a Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon, Gabite radiated a fierce and unstoppable aura, its instincts sharpened to their peak. Without any hesitation, it prepared to unleash its might.

With a thunderous stomp—

**BOOOOM!**

The very ground beneath its feet convulsed, sending a deafening roar echoing through the dense, shadowy forest.

From Gabite's powerful stance, the earth fractured like glass, forming jagged fissures that split and spread outwards in every direction. The once-sturdy terrain crumbled violently. Bushes, rocks, and trees within a five-meter radius were torn from their roots, collapsing into gaping cracks that opened like monstrous jaws. The battlefield was now a broken wasteland. Before the shocked audience could even register the devastation, Gabite moved again. A massive boulder, dislodged and teetering on the edge of a fractured ledge, suddenly levitated into the air. It floated unnaturally, trembling with weight and momentum.

Gabite had locked onto its opponent. Its target is Black Scyther's Cross Slash—an attack known for its speed and lethality. But Gabite wasn't going to dodge. It was going to counter it. With a defiant roar, Gabite hurled the massive rock straight toward the incoming slash.

CRAAACK!

The rock and Scyther's scythe met midair with an earth-shattering collision. Fragments of stone and razor-sharp steel exploded outward in all directions. A blinding cloud of dust and debris engulfed the battlefield. The camera feed turned chaotic, the screen consumed by swirling smoke. The live chat erupted with comments.

"What just happened!?"

"Gabite is a monster!"

"No way Scyther is walking away from that!"

"Is Scyther still alive?!"

In that moment of confusion, a calm yet commanding voice cut through the noise.

"Now."

It was Adrian. His voice was cold, decisive, and full of confidence.

The audience collectively held their breath. As the dust slowly settled, the battlefield became visible again.

The scattered fragments of rock revealed a crucial detail— The Black Scyther's Double Team clones had been utterly destroyed.

Only the real Scyther remained. Gabite's sharp, predatory eyes locked onto it instantly. Its claws shimmered with a menacing gleam. Without missing a beat, Gabite lunged forward, its body slicing through the air like a bullet.

**Screeeeech!**

The Black Scyther let out a chilling, pained cry. Gabite's attack had struck true, piercing Scyther's defense and targeting its weakest point. Wounded and panicked, Scyther's wings flared wildly. It desperately tried to lift off, its wings beating frantically to escape into the safety of the sky. But Adrian wasn't about to let that happen. Gabite's fins shifted for balance, Its legs coiled like springs.

*THWIP!*

In a blur of movement, it launched itself upward, chasing after the faltering Scyther.

For the first time, fear flickered in Scyther's cold, crimson eyes. It pushed its wings harder, straining every muscle to gain altitude.

But then— agonizing pain shot through its body. The precise spot where Gabite had landed it earlier strike now burned with a deep, paralyzing soreness.

Scyther's focus wavered. Its mind clouded and then it made a fatal mistake.

It hesitated—stopping mid-flight, completely exposed.

Time seemed to freeze.

Gabite didn't.

Like a force of nature, It slammed into Scyther with bone-crushing impact.

*BOOOOOOM!*

The Black Scyther was sent hurtling toward the ground.

It crashed with devastating force, dirt and debris exploding around its fallen form.

Its deadly scythes twitched weakly.

But it couldn't rise. It was over.

For a moment, there was silence in the livestream.

And then—

 [Fuck, That was Insane!!!]

[Best. Battle. Ever.]

[I don't care about my data plan. That was worth it.]

[Adrian Is A Legend!]

[Wait… how did he even win that? I blinked, and it was over?!]

Some struggled to understand the brilliance behind the final strike. But most were overwhelmed with pure excitement, celebrating Adrian's flawless victory.

Meanwhile, classrooms across the country were watching the battle on live stream. The middle school students, summoned by their teachers to observe, erupted with cheers. They screamed, and cheered, and some even pounded their desks in excitement. At that young age, when emotions burn the brightest, Adrian's calculated power and Gabite's overwhelming strength left them utterly in awe.

After the intense battle, a wave of admiration rippled among the students, many of whom began to follow Adrian's example. As he looked down at Black Scyther lying on the ground, a thrill of excitement surged through him. At that very moment, a voice resonated in his mind, delivering important news:

[One hour has passed, and the Halo of Goddess of Luck has expired.]

The spectators watching the live broadcast were bewildered, unable to comprehend the events that had just unfolded. However, Adrian had a clear understanding of the situation. The remarkable ease with which he had triumphed was largely attributable to the power of the Goddess of Luck's halo. Throughout the battle, he had utilized the halo's guidance to swiftly uncover Scyther's vulnerabilities, skillfully directing his Pokémon, Gabite, to launch precise attacks.

As the clash continued, Adrian observed a critical moment when Scyther attempted to flee. To the untrained eye, it seemed like an ordinary escape, but he noticed something others did not: a subtle, glowing light enveloped Scyther, as if it were being bound by an invisible force. Recognizing this crucial opportunity, Adrian swiftly instructed Gabite to attack. Had he hesitated, the outcome might have been very different; given Scyther's formidable combat skills and extensive experience, victory was far from guaranteed.

With determination, Adrian approached Scyther, taking care not to tower over it condescendingly. Instead, he crouched down beside the fallen Pokémon, his eyes reflecting both respect and empathy. Although Scyther had lost the ability to battle, it remained alert and aware, a flicker of vigilance shining in its eyes. In that moment, Adrian's admiration for Scyther deepened; even in defeat, it held a spirit that commanded respect.

After a brief but meaningful pause, Adrian retrieved a Great Ball from his pouch, his fingers grazing its smooth surface as he prepared to capture his new ally. With a gentle press, the button on the Great Ball glowed brightly.

Puff—

In an instant, a surge of light enveloped Scyther, causing it to vanish from sight. The Great Ball trembled energetically for a few moments, then stilled, a reassuring sign that Adrian had successfully captured the powerful Pokémon. A wide smile spread across his face; the victory was not just a personal achievement, but also a significant moment of growth in his journey as a trainer.

Feeling a sense of pride, he pressed the Great Ball once more, and Black Scyther reappeared on the grass before him. This time, however, the fierce hostility it had displayed before the battle had dissipated. Instead, Scyther regarded Adrian with an expression of respect and gratitude.

Noticing a camera positioned behind him, Adrian instinctively stepped to the side to shield the moment from the public eye. Then, placing his hand over Scyther's injured shoulder and chest, he summoned a radiant, bright green light from his palm. The energy radiated warmth, enveloping Scyther in a gentle embrace.

As the healing energy flowed through its body, Scyther closed its eyes, surrendering to the comforting sensation. Each pulse of warmth infused it with vitality. Moments later, when Scyther opened its eyes again, the injuries that had marred its form had vanished, and all its power had returned.

Now standing upright, Scyther relaxed its guarded stance, looking at Adrian with eyes rich in admiration and intimacy. Once a solitary creature, it had found a connection with Adrian, the very first person to treat it with such compassion and care. At that moment, a sign-in reminder echoed in Adrian's mind, signaling the next chapter in their adventure together.
