...
The light was so powerful, that everyone in the place was completely blinded by it, preventing them from seeing what was happening right where the light was coming from, but, although no one could observe it clearly, that does not mean that nothing was happening, at the epicenter of the light, Bunneary's shape began to change, becoming taller and taller, her previously small legs began to enlarge as did her arms and his height grew exponentially, until, at last, the light ceased, as if it had never existed.
When the light suddenly illuminated the whole place, I found myself confused, but soon, I was able to conclude that it had happened and what the origin of the light was, it was an evolution; Bunneary was evolving!
When the power went out, a new Pokémon could be glimpsed, one willing to give it her all, a Pokémon that in my previous life many loved for her appearance and... for other more questionable things, she was a Lopunny.
"Oh, she has evolved, congratulations; I already know that she only needed a little push" – said Erika with a smile.
Listening to her, I was surprised. Are her words serious or a mere joke?
"You mean you said all those words purpose?" – I asked without understanding.
"Of course, I would never say anything so cruel, but seeing that you needed that little push, I just decided to help you" – Erika nodded.
So... was it some kind of test? Did she want to test our bond or my ability as a trainer or maybe my philosophy when it comes to battle or maybe... Both?
"Thank you, but I don't understand; why did you help us?" – I asked without understanding.
I mean, we're in the middle of a gym battle, my Pokémon evolving and becoming stronger is only a disadvantage for her, so... why help me?
"I know what you mean, but tell me something, why do you think gym leaders exist?" – Erika asked.
"To strengthen the trainers" – I said.
"Yes, exactly, but also to help them, we, gym leaders not only have to battle the trainers, but help them to improve, that's our mission as a gym leaders, something that some, unfortunately, seem to have forgotten" – said Erika.
I see, yes, she's right. In video games, gym badges were not only used to access the Pokémon League, but also to level up your Pokémon to be able to face the Elite Four, whereas, in the anime, gym leaders helped trainers gain experience so that their performance in the Pokémon League would not be an embarrassment and they would give their best.
In real life it is something similar, as gym leaders must not only strengthen the trainer through battle, but also guide them to improve their battle style or even strengthen their bond with their Pokémon; as she did this time.
It's also curious how...
[Attention, Lopunny has learned Fire Punch and also wants to learn Jump Kick! Do you want to replace any of her moves for Jump Kick?]
This is what I was waiting for; replace Pound for Jump Kick!
[Lopunny has forgotten Pound and learned Jump Kick!]
"Punny!" – Lopunny said.
Immediately, her right fist was covered with fire; indicating that he had indeed learned the move: Fire Punch.
"I see that you have grown stronger, your bond has grown stronger, but... Can you defeat me? Show me your new power, Tangela, use Vine Whip and this time don't hold back!" – exclaimed Erika.
"Gela!" – Tangela shouted.
At a much faster speed than before, Tangela steered a Vine Whip toward Lopunny amd I must admit that it is incredible, If that attack had hit Bunneary a little while ago, he would have finished her off in one hit, but apparently he was holding back his power so as not to weaken me and strengthen my bond with Bunneary by allowing her to evolve and reach new heights.
"If it were before, we would have succumbed, but now we are stronger!" – I exclaimed.
"Punny!" – Lopunny exclaimed.
She agreed, now they were stronger and no one could defeat them, no one would be able to break the strong bond that unites them, a bond forged from trust, mutual respect and love; a bond that every trainer should have with their Pokémon!
"Dodge it and use Fire Punch, show how strong we are!" – I exclaimed.
"Punny!" – Lopunny exclaimed.
With a speed increased several times, Lopunny dodged Tangela's attack with an ease that even seemed impossible.
In the blink of an eye and with no one able to follow her speed, Lopunny was behind Tangela, who could not react in time and was hit by Lopunny. The strong blow hit Tangela, which was sent to fly and crash to the ground several meters away.
"Are you okay, Tangela?" – Erika asked worriedly.
But Tangela did not answer because Lopunny's attack had been so strong that it had weakened him with a single blow.
"Tangela can't keep fighting, Lopunny wins!" – Carla said.
"Thank you very much, Tangela, you have done great, now rest and then I'll give you a delicious meal" – said Erika returning Tangela to his Pokéball.
"Well done, Lopunny" – I said with a smile.
Lopunny looked at me, smiled at me, and nodded, her trainer and family were right, she had become strong, no, she had become several times stronger, she had reached a level she never thought she could reach, but she felt that this was not his limit, she felt that she could keep improving, that her strength could keep increasing, this was just the beginning.
"I really didn't think it would become so strong" – Erika said with a smile.
"We were already strong but we just needed a push, I thank you one more time" – I said in a grateful tone.
In fact, if it weren't for her, I wouldn't know how long it would have taken us to reach this level, I'll be honest, when it comes time to participate in the Pokémon League, I want all of my Pokémon to be fully evolved with the exception of Pikachu who I won't evolve.
With my current team, when everyone evolves and gets even stronger, winning the Pokémon League will be extremely easy.
"Well, let's continue... Victreebel, I choose you!" – said Erika.
And a menacing-looking and quite strong Victreebel took to the battlefield ready to give everything for victory.
"You've done a great job before, there's no doubt the bond you share with your Pokémon is very strong, but... ours does not pale in comparison; Victreebel use Sludge Bomb!" – exclaimed Erika.
In one swift motion, a ball made of what appeared to be mud shot out at full speed towards Lopunny.
"Nice try! I recognize that Victreebel is a very strong Pokémon and I don't doubt his strength, but... it doesn't stand out for his speed!" – I said.
Lopunny seemed to understand my words and nodded, dodging the Sludge Bomb with incredible ease.
"Now, use Fire Punch!" – I exclaimed.
Lopunny covered her fist with scorching fire and headed straight for Victreebel.
"Do you think we haven't faced fast Pokémon before? Victreebel, you know what to do!" – exclaimed Erika.
What was her plan? Her Victreebel is not even attacking. What does she intend? I didn't know what her intentions were but I couldn't turn back, Lopunny was just inches away from Victreebel and her attack was going to hit him at any moment.
"Put all your strength into that attack, weaken him with a single blow!" – I exclaimed.
We have no choice but to use all our strength in this blow, because if we weaken him with just one blow, she will not be able to carry out her strategy, whatever it may be.
"Punny!" - she exclaimed.
Lopunny's fist hit Victreebel squarely, normally, he would have been sent flying receiving considerable damage in the process or even weakening him, but that did not happen. Victreebel was stuck in the place with his vines covering Lopunny's entire body and while it is true that he received damage, in return, Lopunny's freedom of movement was restricted.
"Try to free yourself!" – I exclaimed.
Damn, I didn't see that strategy coming! In truth, gym leaders in real life are stronger than in video games and even those in anime, their difference in power is incredible!
"Don't let it, use Sludge Bomb!" – exclaimed Erika.
In one swift move, Victreebel launched a Sludge Bomb. This attack directly hit Lopunny and sent her flying a few meters away.
