Chapter 10: Chapter 9: Training in the Abyss—Mastering the Phantom Code

Chapter 9: Training in the Abyss—Mastering the Phantom Code

The moment Daedric revealed the truth about Project Omni-Core, Erevan knew there was no turning back.

The Quantum Sect wasn't just corrupt—they were rewriting reality itself. And he? He was an anomaly, the only one who could stop them.

But he had a problem.

The Quantum Phantom Code was killing him.

His body flickered again, his vision splitting into multiple realities for a fraction of a second. In one, Nyssa wasn't there. In another, he was already dead.

Erevan gritted his teeth.

"If I can't control this power, I'm useless."

Daedric must have sensed his thoughts because he chuckled. "You don't have a choice, kid. If you don't learn to master the Quantum Phantom Code, it'll consume you."

Erevan met his gaze. "Then train me."

Daedric grinned. "Good answer."

The Phantom Code—Unlocking the Forbidden

The UnderNet's main hall shifted, the walls flickering like corrupted data. Dozens of rogue cultivators and cybernetic warriors cleared the space, forming a massive training area.

Daedric stood at the center. "Lesson one: Your power doesn't work like normal Qi."

He waved a hand, and a data construct formed—a massive simulated battlefield built entirely from holographic energy and raw Qi scripts.

Erevan's breath caught. This wasn't a normal training ground.

This was a simulated battlefield linked to his mind.

[QUANTUM PHANTOM CODE RECOGNIZED – SYNCHRONIZING WITH SIMULATION]

The environment around him shifted, and suddenly—

He wasn't in the UnderNet anymore.

He stood on the ruins of a futuristic city, skyscrapers crumbling, the sky burning red with glitching energy. A battlefield from a war that hadn't happened yet.

Erevan's heartbeat pounded in his ears.

"What… is this?"

Daedric's voice echoed. "A glimpse into possible futures. This is what happens if you fail."

Erevan clenched his fists. He didn't need Daedric to spell it out.

If the Quantum Sect completed Project Omni-Core, this was the fate of the world.

Daedric's voice sharpened. "Your training starts now. Survive."

Trial One: Facing the Quantum Wraiths

The air cracked—and suddenly, they appeared.

Quantum Wraiths.

Shadow-like figures flickering in and out of existence, their bodies formed from corrupted data and dark energy.

They rushed him, moving faster than the human eye could track.

Erevan barely had time to react before the first Wraith slashed at him with a data-infused blade.

He dodged—too slow.

Pain exploded in his shoulder as the blade sliced through his cybernetic armor like air.

[WARNING: PHYSICAL INTEGRITY COMPROMISED]

Erevan gritted his teeth. These things could actually hurt him.

"Focus."

He channeled his Quantum Qi, activating Phase Shift. His body glitched, slipping between states of reality, making him untouchable for a fraction of a second.

The second Wraith attacked.

Erevan countered, his palm igniting with unstable blue fire, raw Quantum Qi crackling as he struck forward.

Quantum Phantom Code: Data Overload Strike.

The attack landed—and the Wraith screamed, its form breaking apart into pixels.

But before Erevan could celebrate, three more Wraiths emerged from the shadows.

Daedric's voice rang in his head. "You can't fight them like a normal cultivator. The Quantum Phantom Code isn't about strength. It's about rewriting reality itself."

Erevan's mind clicked.

"Then I won't fight them at all."

Instead of attacking, he focused on the code around him. The entire simulation was built from data and Qi—which meant it could be rewritten.

He extended his hand.

Quantum Phantom Code: System Rewrite.

The air shattered, and suddenly—the Wraiths froze mid-attack. Their forms corrupted, breaking into lines of pure code.

A second later, they erased themselves.

Erevan exhaled.

He had just rewritten the entire combat scenario, bending reality itself.

Daedric's voice was full of approval. "Now you're getting it."

Trial Two: The Bounty Hunter Returns

Before Erevan could catch his breath, the ground cracked open.

A new figure emerged from the shadows.

The Elite Bounty Hunter who had tried to capture him before.

Only this time, something was different.

The bounty hunter's body was no longer entirely mechanical.

It shifted—glitching just like Erevan's.

Erevan's blood ran cold.

Daedric's voice was grim. "Your enemies are evolving too, kid. This fight won't be like the last one."

The bounty hunter's red eyes glowed, and he spoke in a voice laced with synthetic power.

"You're not the only one with Phantom Code, Erevan Kane."

Then—he attacked.

Quantum Clash: Unleashing the Phantom Storm

The bounty hunter moved faster than lightning, his arm morphing into a high-density energy blade that cut through the air with terrifying precision.

Erevan barely dodged, activating Phase Shift—but the bounty hunter countered instantly, shifting phases with him.

Erevan's eyes widened.

"Shit—he can Phase Shift too?!"

Before he could react, the bounty hunter's blade slashed across his chest, sending him flying backward.

Pain tore through his body.

Nyssa's voice crackled through the simulation. "Erevan, get up! He's adapted to your powers!"

Erevan forced himself to stand. His Quantum Qi was unstable, his energy levels dropping. He was outmatched.

"I need to end this. Now."

He focused all his remaining power into one final technique.

His body flickered, shifting between realities, his Quantum Phantom Code reaching its limit.

The bounty hunter lunged—

Erevan vanished.

For a split second, he was everywhere and nowhere.

Then—he reappeared behind the bounty hunter, his hands crackling with pure, raw Phantom Qi.

Quantum Phantom Code: Reality Collapse.

Erevan struck forward.

The world shattered.

The bounty hunter let out a strangled gasp as his entire form fractured, his code unstable, his existence breaking apart.

He screamed—and then he was gone.

The simulation collapsed.

Erevan found himself back in the UnderNet, gasping for air.

Daedric grinned. "Congratulations. You just survived your first true test."

Erevan wiped sweat from his brow.

But he wasn't satisfied.

Because he knew—this was just the beginning.

The Quantum Sect wasn't done with him yet. And if the bounty hunter had adapted…

That meant his enemies were evolving too.

And the next time, they wouldn't just be hunting him.

They'd be coming for all of reality.
