Raising a Wolf in the Academy

Chapter 8 - First Night with the Wolf

“Heck! Heck!”
‘If I knew you’d like it this much, I would have given you a name earlier.’
A little while ago.
After finishing the short meal with Aisha, while washing off the meat smell that had permeated my body.
I realized I hadn’t given the wolf a name yet.
A name.
One means of defining oneself.
It’s not an exaggeration to say that the difference between pets and ordinary wild animals comes from names.
…Such an important thing, the wolf hadn’t received yet.
-It’s been hours since you brought it, how can it not have a proper name!
It was as if someone was shouting in my head.
Thus.
After 10 minutes of contemplation carried out with the thought that it’s not too late even now.
The creature’s name was decided.

Vanilla.
Snow.
Snow Ice.
…Even Doggy.
The name chosen among numerous candidates was Whitey.
‘Even though I came up with it, it’s really a sensible name. Should I have opened a naming agency?’
Appropriately cute, well capturing its characteristics, and easy to call.
Could there be a more perfect name than this?
Just thinking about how happy it would be made the corners of my mouth rise.
‘Alright. Let’s go.’
The meat smell should have washed off by now.
After changing clothes, I left the bathroom and headed to the room.
When I opened the door, Whitey, who had come to its senses by then, welcomed me.
“…..”
…In fact, rather than welcoming.
It was closer to a look that seemed to be interrogating me about what I had been doing outside while leaving it here.
‘I wanted to tell you after building up the suspense a bit more, but I guess I can’t help it.’
Although not much time had passed, it was true that I had left it alone in the room.
Rather than making unconvincing excuses and testing its patience, it seemed better to quickly tell it its name.
And the result was as you see…
“Heck! Heck!”
It was very successful.
At first, it tilted its head left and right as if thinking about what it meant.
But not long after, as if realizing it was its name.
It wagged its tail vigorously as if happy and ran around in the narrow cage.
The eyes of a wife suspecting her husband’s infidelity.
Had long since changed to the eyes of a cute pet looking at its owner.
It was also the moment when the very faint worry of ‘What if it doesn’t like the name’ completely melted away.
“Heck! Heck!”
Pure joy without showing even a hint of displeasure.
Watching that sight, a smile spread across my face as well.
Just looking at it, I felt the fatigue accumulated from paperwork and cleaning the kitchen flying away.
‘So this is why people keep pets.’
“Awoooo—!”
As if it liked it that much, Whitey started howling towards me as if in gratitude.
Standing on two legs with its front paws on the bars, it was as if.
It was tempting me, saying ‘Aren’t you going to pet me even like this?’
It was a transparent temptation, but there was no reason not to give in.
As desired, I jumped into the cage and petted it vigorously.
Supporting its chest area with one arm, I put the other arm on its back and moved it up and down.
Of course. Since doing it too intensely might cause a situation like before to happen again, a bit slowly.
-Pat pat
“Heck Heck! Awoooo—!”
As the gentle touches continued, Whitey opened its mouth towards my nape.
If it were an ordinary wild wolf, I should immediately move away, but this one is my pet wolf.
It won’t bite its owner hard.
…Probably.
-Chomp!
As expected, Whitey didn’t bite seriously.
It bit so lightly that if it weren’t for the warmth of its mouth felt on my neck, I wouldn’t have even noticed being bitten.
It was light enough not to leave teeth marks.
‘As I thought, I knew it would be like this. I definitely wasn’t scared it might tear me apart.’
At the shop, and just now, I thought Whitey, who had shown friendly behavior towards me, would be like this.
As those who know might be aware, lightly biting the other’s nape like this is a wolf’s expression of affection.
It means ‘I won’t hurt you.’
Thinking that I had become even closer to it, I put more strength into my petting hand.
But.
-Tick
-Tick
Something strange kept catching on my fingertips, interfering with my movements.
‘What keeps… Ah.’
Come to think of it, Whitey had been wearing rags since the shop.
‘…Should I take them off?’
Because of this, I couldn’t comfortably pet Whitey, and it seemed quite displeased about that fact as well.
No matter how much it disliked it, it probably couldn’t take them off by itself due to physical limitations, so it must have been really uncomfortable.
I wonder why they had put such a thing on it at the shop.
The rags weren’t enchanted with magic, and it didn’t seem to like them either.
‘Let’s just take them off. If they were really important, it would have told me.’
The deliberation wasn’t long, and the action was even quicker.
-Whoosh!
Using a simple undressing spell, I took off the rags Whitey was wearing and threw them far away.
“Awoooo—!”
Perhaps excited that the stuffy rags were removed, it started moving more vigorously.
‘It was indeed uncomfortable.’
Thinking I did well to take them off, I kept moving my hand.
Certainly, with the cumbersome rags gone, petting became much easier.
By the way.
It seemed like quite a decent shop, why did they put such rags on an animal?
‘Maybe it was a shop that didn’t heat well?’
But it’s summer now.
“Heck! Heck!”
…Oh well, never mind. Let’s just enjoy the moment.
With the sensation of touching fur without any interference, I pushed aside such complicated thoughts.
Right now, there wasn’t even enough space in my head to store this sensation.

How much time had passed?
Perhaps having reached a state of selflessness, I didn’t feel tired.
But if I really petted it all night, it was obvious that tomorrow’s me would be dead.
‘It’s regrettable, but I should stop now and sleep… Wait a minute.’
Just as I was about to fall asleep, comforting myself that today wasn’t the only day.
An amazing thought occurred to me.
‘If I sleep while hugging Whitey, couldn’t I pet it even while sleeping?’
Perfect.
I’ll do it right away.
I lifted Whitey up and headed to the bed.
It should be more than enough space for one person and one wolf to lie down.
“….!”
As if realizing what I was trying to do, it shook its body saying it liked it.
“Yes, Whitey. I’ll hug you all night long.”
“!!!”
I lay down on the bed with it, unable to contain its excitement.
I stretch out my arm and support Whitey’s chin.
I close my eyes while stroking its soft mane with my remaining arm.
‘Ah, right. I forgot this.’
—Sniff, exhale.
“!?!?”
There was a strong but not unpleasant animal smell.
It seems like I’ll be able to sleep comfortably for the first time in a while.

While the professor happily departed for dreamland.
The wolf in his arms… the beastperson who now had the name Whitey, was not.
Suddenly getting a strange name.
Having clothes removed and being toyed with, anyone would react the same way.
‘Die, die, die…!’
—Crunch! Crunch!
Fierce sounds kept coming from near the professor’s neck, but not a drop of blood came out.
Although knowing it was a meaningless action, she still continued.
Because it felt like she couldn’t bear it otherwise.
‘Damn it… This son of a bitch, he knew…’
No matter how much she twisted her body.
The arms strongly wrapping around her showed no signs of loosening at all.
Taking a slave out of the cage without even giving an order not to escape.
The meaning of this was clear.
Mockery.
Somehow, the professor knew that she had attempted to escape by circumventing the order.
That’s why he was doing this.
Telling her to escape if she could.
To push away these arms and go outside.
Saying how dare you dream of escape when you can’t even handle a single arm.
‘Damn it… Damn it!’
At first, she thought he was trying to force himself on her.
Because he smiled lecherously, removed her clothes, fondled her body all over, and headed to the bed.
But.
Now she thought it might have been better that way.
At least she wouldn’t have to be immersed in this feeling of helplessness of not being able to do anything.
She could have fueled her fighting spirit even more with anger at being violated by him.
The professor’s breath touched her nape.
Her hair tickled her cheeks, moving slightly with each inhale and exhale.
It was terrible.
Above all…
Unable to escape from his embrace.
She felt pathetic for not being able to prevent or avoid this—
‘No, that’s not it…’
She steadies her crumbling heart.
‘I can’t give up just because of this… This helplessness, someday I’ll return it to you… no, to all of you twofold.’
Once again, she bites the professor’s nape hard.
Pouring in all her remaining strength, prepared for her teeth to break.
—Crunch! Crunch!
A sound similar to before was made, but the result was a bit different.
A faintly visible wound.
‘That’s right, you’re human too… Not some immortal monster…’
Although it was a very slight wound, this much was enough.
The wolf, having gained confidence that the being before her was human and could be killed, fell asleep as if collapsing.
Promising herself that someday she would sink her teeth into that human’s neck.
