Chapter 522: Chapter 522: Danger!
"You may not be interested in me, but you don't get to decide that."
To kill or seal a fleeing primordial wild god requires significant effort and time, even for Garon. Initially, Garon considered letting the Thunder Serpent go to focus on other wild gods across the material worlds. There were plenty of them, and he didn't need to fixate on the Thunder Serpent alone.
However, the Thunder Serpent's last words successfully caught Garon's attention.
Garon, in his giant god form, calm and composed like a towering mountain, gazed coldly at the primordial wild god that had half of its body already through the planar gate.
Simultaneously, Garon raised his dragon claw, aimed at the Thunder Serpent, and gently rotated his wrist counterclockwise. The power of time poured out from within him, merging into the river of time.
Affected by Garon's time power, the river of time around the Thunder Serpent began to flow backward.
The activation of the Time Corridor required more time and exerted a significant toll on Garon, so he merely reversed the flow of time.
As the time river reversed, its intangible waters washed over the Thunder Serpent, like an invisible hand yanking it back from the planar gate into the material world.
Feeling the threat posed by the time reversal, the Thunder Serpent's scales crackled with a million arcs of electricity, forming orderly rings of lightning around its body, each ring discharging powerful currents.
Under the Thunder Serpent's counterattack, the reversing river of time rippled, slowing the backward flow.
It became a tug-of-war.
The Thunder Serpent, surrounded by endless lightning, strained to leave the material world, while the reversing river of time kept pulling it back, preventing its escape unless it could outpace the reversal.
As the time river slowed, more of the Thunder Serpent's body slipped through the planar gate.
Just when it began to feel hopeful, in the next moment, the silver dragon hovering in the sky locked its gaze on the Thunder Serpent, its eyes narrowing. Garon extended his claw into the river of time, continuously channeling the power of time.
Suddenly.
The Thunder Serpent's counterattack was suppressed, and the river of time reversed swiftly.
Whoosh!
Invisible waves surged, and with a surge of strength, Garon pulled the Thunder Serpent's nearly fully escaped body back into the material world.
Yanked back into the material world, the Thunder Serpent's eyes flickered with unease.
"Did I permit you to leave?"
The silver dragon sneered coldly, its position seemingly parallel to the Thunder Serpent but looking down as if from a great height.
Without waiting for a response, Garon's wings spread wide, creating a windstorm powerful enough to topple mountains, and his body vanished from its original spot.
When Garon moved, the Thunder Serpent lost sight of him, its pupils constricting sharply.
In the next moment, the silver dragon was right before it.
Its expression changed, and it raised its head high.
On the Thunder Serpent's scales, countless orderly arcs of lightning converged on its single horn.
In the next instant, an endless surge of lightning erupted from the Thunder Serpent, forming a sea of liquid-like lightning filled with destructive force. The Thunder Serpent's body glowed, transforming into an entity seemingly made of pure electricity.
In this critical moment, with its mind racing, time seemed to slow down.
Facing the overwhelming pressure of the silver dragon's raised claw, the Thunder Serpent first gathered the surrounding liquid-like lightning, concentrating it. Then, it exploded outward, forming a brilliant, dazzling sphere of lightning that engulfed its entire body like a radiant thunder sun rising in the sky.
The condensed, almost solid lightning surged forward, destroying everything in its path, aiming directly at the near-invincible silver dragon.
Previously, a god fighting the Thunder Serpent had been engulfed by this lightning and was gravely injured, leading to their eventual demise.
Facing the dazzling lightning, the silver dragon remained expressionless, his gaze calm.
The dragon's claw, covered in fine silver scales, rose and fell, slicing through the lightning veil, aiming directly at the Thunder Serpent.
Simultaneously, the omnipresent lightning danced over the silver dragon's scales, flowing and crackling.
Despite being cloaked in lightning, the dragon seemed unaffected, letting the electricity course over it.
The claw of temporal rupture tore through the lightning, unstoppable, closing in on the Thunder Serpent.
The serpent tried to dodge, but under the influence of Garon's pre-established time-stopping field, its movements were sluggish. Though it managed to avoid part of the attack, the claw still sliced through the lower part of its tail.
The Thunder Serpent's appearance alone showed that it wasn't built for close combat, with its long, thin, and not particularly strong body.
In its desperation, the Thunder Serpent formed a layer of solid lightning armor on its body.
But... crack!
This lightning armor was like paper, shredded by the dragon's claws as if cutting through butter.
The claws tore through the armor, scales, and flesh.
The Thunder Serpent howled as its tail was severed, losing about forty percent of its length.
Their skills weren't on the same level; the Thunder Serpent was completely outmatched.
The Thunder Serpent was only slightly stronger than the wild god Akalun.
But now, it faced Garon in his fully merged state, a form previously used to deal with the primordial Sun God. When Garon fought Akalun, he hadn't fused with his divine power, allowing Akalun to exchange several blows with him.
As the claw severed the Thunder Serpent's tail, Garon released the temporal rupture claw and grabbed the serpent's tail, twisting it around his arm, wrapping the serpent's slender body in several loops.
Boom, boom, boom!
Injured and caught by Garon, the Thunder Serpent went into a frenzy, fighting desperately.
In the deafening thunder, countless bolts of lightning concentrated and rained down on Garon, but apart from making Garon's form shimmer with electric light and causing faint ripples on the barrier of ages, it had no other effect.
"Let go of me!"
The Thunder Serpent roared, its body crackling with lightning.
Garon remained unmoved, employing the Time Amber sealing technique. Amber crystals began to form around the Thunder Serpent's tail, spreading over its body.
The serpent, still covered in endless lightning, like a chain of electricity, suddenly coiled tightly around Garon's body, squeezing hard.
Zzzt, zzzt… The serpent's lightning-infused body clung tightly to Garon, concentrating all its power, making its body semi-transparent, almost showing its internal skeleton through the scales.
Overloaded with primordial power, the Thunder Serpent coiled tighter around Garon, some of its force piercing through the barrier of ages, causing some discomfort.
"A tingly feeling…"
With the Thunder Serpent wrapped tightly around him, the electric stimulation caused not just a tingling sensation but also some pain. However, Garon didn't find it unpleasant; in fact, it felt somewhat soothing.
"In my fully merged state, weak-tier and mid-tier godlike wild gods are now easy prey."
"It seems that only strong-tier godlike wild gods can truly challenge me in the material world."
Garon mused silently, glancing at the Thunder Serpent coiled tightly around him.
The majestic dragon's wings spread wide, its limbs strained, muscles bulging under the scales, hinting at the immense power within.
The dragon's body contained limitless force, like a volcanic eruption, surpassing even the strength of the gods of power and courage.
Snap!
Feeling the surge of immense power, the Thunder Serpent panicked, trying to pull away.
But it was wrapped too tightly to escape instantly.
Thus, its slender body was broken inch by inch, shattering like a snapped line, scattering in pieces.
Wild gods had formidable vitality; despite the severe fragmentation, the Thunder Serpent didn't die.
Zzzt, zzzt… Lightning crackled from its severed parts, pulling its segments back together.
However, due to the severe damage and the oppressive time field, the Thunder Serpent couldn't fully regenerate quickly.
During this time, Garon didn't just watch.
He could have killed the Thunder Serpent earlier but chose instead to heavily injure it, making it unable to resist his sealing.
The silver dragon extended its claw, already massive, further enlarged in a localized super-giant form, shadowing the sky, and grabbed the entirety of the Thunder Serpent's fragmented body, crushing it in its grasp.
Crack, crack.
In Garon's claw, layers of Time Amber formed, encasing the Thunder Serpent's shattered body.
This time, the Thunder Serpent failed to resist.
Its body, now a lump of segments bound together, was frozen in the Time Amber, with its captured lightning still visible within, and the severed edges of its wounds clearly defined.
The composition was bizarre yet had a strange beauty.
"Yellow Sand Lord, Primordial Sun God, Thunder Serpent… My collection of wild gods is growing."
Garon admired the Time Amber, smiling.
Garon cherished unique collections, and each wild god possessed distinct abilities and forms, perfectly suited for his ideal collection.
If it were other species, Garon might have sealed just one or two before losing interest.
But with wild gods, Garon preferred to seal them as trophies rather than killing them outright.
After dealing with the Thunder Serpent, Garon's pupils dilated, seemingly losing focus.
His gaze now turned to other material worlds.
In Garon's vision, Yuna was battling a bizarrely shaped wild god.
This wild god resembled an amorphous sludge, covering a vast area, turning millions of square kilometers into a swampy mire. Its form was similar to that of Akalun, making it difficult to kill.
However, it was no match for Yuna. Her assaults were steadily dismantling the muck-like body of the wild god. Additionally, Yuna had used a world force field to fortify the spatial barriers of the material world, effectively turning it into a prison for the wild god.
At this rate, it wouldn't be long before Yuna defeated her second wild god.
After a quick glance at his mate's situation, Garon shifted his attention to other material worlds, seeking a new target and promptly descended upon it.
This time, it was another mid-tier godlike wild god.
Its life form was more peculiar—a dim light beam moving at incredible speed through the material world. Wherever the light passed, all life forms aged rapidly, becoming frail and decrepit. They were not killed outright but were left teetering on the brink of death.
This wild god was known as Dusk's Star Ray, a being that had perished during the First Dawn War.
As Garon's majestic silver dragon form descended upon the material world, the reaction of Dusk's Star Ray was even swifter than the Thunder Serpent's.
Perhaps already aware of the fate that had befallen the Thunder Serpent, Dusk's Star Ray opted to flee the material world immediately.
More precisely, as Garon's presence caused subtle ripples in the time stream due to the temporal transmission, Dusk's Star Ray began to leave the material world even before Garon fully arrived.
When Garon emerged, he saw only the tail end of the star-like beam, almost completely immersed in the just-opened planar gate.
Simultaneously, Dusk's Star Ray erased the surrounding spatial fluctuations, making its destination difficult to trace in the short term.
"Running this fast?"
The Thunder Serpent had initially not chosen to flee immediately and had even considered facing Garon. It was only after experiencing the overwhelming pressure from Garon that it decided to retreat.
Garon's eyes narrowed as he stared at the closed planar gate. Then, his gaze became cold and sharp, transforming into the Eyes of Time, capable of perceiving past, present, and future within a limited range.
Peering into the location where Dusk's Star Ray had vanished, the silver dragon's eyes glowed faintly, reflecting scenes from another material world.
"It seems I'll have to descend quietly and without warning next time. Otherwise, they'll just run away."
Garon mused silently.
Given his current record, it was likely that only strong-tier godlike wild gods would dare to challenge him. Most weak and mid-tier godlike wild gods would prefer to avoid direct confrontation.
With his target locked, Garon once again performed temporal transmission.
This time, at Garon's will, the power of time flowed over his entire body like water, merging seamlessly with the surrounding time stream.
As Garon moved within the time stream, it continued its unhurried flow, showing no apparent disturbance.
Meanwhile.
In the new material world, the dim light of Dusk's Star Ray flickered, almost as if it sighed in relief.
But in the next moment, without a sound, the majestic form of the silver dragon leaped out of the calmly flowing time stream, appearing as if out of thin air without causing a ripple.
Dusk's Star Ray, thinking it had reached safety and just beginning to relax, was startled by Garon's sudden appearance. The presence of the silver dragon and its overwhelming might caused the light that made up its form to flicker rapidly, as if in shock.
"Garon Aurelian, do you really intend to pursue me?"
The flickering light conveyed the will of Dusk's Star Ray in a mental wave.
"And what if I do?"
Garon's expression remained calm as he spoke.
"In that case... let's see if you can catch me. Let's see if you can chase me down."
Before it even finished speaking, Dusk's Star Ray spun on the spot, drawing the planar gate.
At the very moment Dusk's Star Ray opened the gate, Garon, through the Eyes of Time, had already discerned its intended destination.
Almost simultaneously, or even slightly before Dusk's Star Ray entered the planar gate, Garon's wings flapped, and he dove into the time stream.
In a flash.
In yet another material world, Dusk's Star Ray streaked through the sky, trailing a long line of light as it pierced through the space.
But to its shock, upon arriving in the new world, it found Garon already there, his massive dragon form looming and watching with a cold, intent gaze, as if waiting for it.
"Did I take a wrong turn?"
"No, he got here before me."
Dusk's Star Ray glanced around, realizing it had indeed left the previous material world. The issue was that Garon had somehow arrived before it, something completely unexpected.
At this point, the silver dragon's colossal claw descended.
The small, star-like body of Dusk's Star Ray swerved rapidly, even under the influence of the time-stopping field, and despite the slowing effect, its speed was still extraordinary. Just narrowly escaping the dragon's grasp, it darted through the gaps between Garon's claws and immediately opened another planar gate behind it.
"Quick reflexes and speed."
Garon wasn't disheartened by the escape. Instead, he displayed a keen interest.
Dusk's Star Ray, being a beam of light, excelled in speed and agility.
Thus began a game of cat and mouse.
Under Garon's relentless pursuit, Dusk's Star Ray moved between different material worlds and occasionally ventured into outer planes.
During this chase, Garon stayed close on its trail.
Despite its tremendous speed and agility, Dusk's Star Ray gradually accumulated injuries under Garon's persistent attacks. Although it managed to avoid most of the strikes due to its nimbleness, it couldn't evade all of them and was increasingly wounded.
With its injuries slowing it down, Dusk's Star Ray's speed and reaction diminished, making it more challenging to evade Garon's assaults, leading to more injuries, thus creating a dangerous downward spiral. Despite exhausting all its tricks to break this vicious cycle, it couldn't succeed and repeatedly found itself in peril.
Finally, in the Astral Plane.
Garon hovered in the vast, silvery void, surrounded by countless shimmering silver points of light, filling every inch of the space with a beautiful and eerie glow.
The silver dragon looked down at his outstretched claw.
In his grasp, a crystal-clear Time Amber stood silently. Within the Time Amber was a dim beam of light, frozen in place as if a sunbeam had pierced through the branches and leaves, catching the floating dust particles in its path, now solidified.
"This wild god's form in the Time Amber is quite beautiful. The chase was worth it."
After admiring it for a moment, Garon stored the Time Amber containing Dusk's Star Ray.
Sealing both the Thunder Serpent and Dusk's Star Ray consecutively had depleted a considerable amount of Garon's time power. In such a state, pursuing a third primordial wild god without interruption would make it challenging to quickly seal the next one, though he wouldn't fail.
Thus, Garon chose not to push his luck and returned to the Dragon Court to rest, drawing continuously from the Hero's Domain's life energy.
After sufficiently recovering, Garon rejoined the battlefield.
After sealing four wild gods, more of the primordial wild gods began to avoid confronting Garon directly. They would promptly relocate at the slightest hint of danger.
Garon, with his Eyes of Time, could lock onto targets and, if persistent, could hunt them down like he did with Dusk's Star Ray, capturing and sealing them unless a stronger wild god intervened.
"But chasing down wild gods that only want to flee consumes too much time and effort."
When wild gods had no will to fight and only sought escape, it was challenging for Garon to conclude battles efficiently.
After expending significant effort but sealing just another mid-tier godlike wild god, Garon pondered.
"The time and effort spent on weak-tier and mid-tier godlike wild gods aren't yielding proportionate rewards."
At this stage of the war between the gods and the wild gods, Garon, as the Eternal and Time Dragon, felt his strength was somewhat underutilized.
After a brief reflection, Garon made a decision.
"I'll forsake the weak and mid-tier godlike wild gods and focus on the strong-tier godlike wild gods."
"Defeating one strong-tier godlike wild god yields far greater results than numerous lower-tier wild gods."
With this resolve, Garon's gaze shifted to the myriad material worlds, searching for traces of strong-tier godlike wild gods.
These stronger wild gods were fewer in number and were mostly engaged in battles against equally powerful gods, often resulting in stalemates, with some even having switched battlefields multiple times.
As Garon scanned for a suitable target, his attention was drawn to the ongoing standoff between the God of Light and the World Devourer in one material world.
His gaze lingered momentarily on this scene. After a brief observation, Garon was about to move on to another world when an unexpected turn of events caught his eye.
A surprising new arrival suddenly descended into this material world, disrupting the long-standing stalemate between the God of Light and the World Devourer.
