Chapter 523: Chapter 523: The Sun and God of Malefic Fire, the Evil Sun God
Mossogreen World, Prime Material Plane.
In the Mossogreen world, the God of Light and the primordial wild god known as the World Devourer had been locked in battle, traversing multiple material worlds.
Despite the intense and prolonged conflict, neither side had managed to gain a definitive upper hand. Even while Garon had already sealed four primordial wild gods, these two remained at an impasse, now using this world as their battlefield.
As usual, the God of Light maintained the appearance of an elderly human. However, unlike his usual benevolent and kindly demeanor, his face now bore an expression of stern authority and gravity. His eyes burned with a fierce fire, as if the blazing sun itself was reflected in his gaze.
A radiant, intense white light surrounded the God of Light, forming a solid, spherical outline, resembling a brilliant white sun. The dazzling light was so intense that it was almost impossible to look directly at him.
In Garon's memory, the God of Light was always smiling, exuding a gentle and warm glow. But now, like the dual nature of sunlight that can be either soothing or scorching, the God of Light in battle was a completely different entity.
In this combat-ready state, he resembled the blazing sun at noon on a scorching summer day, his light searing and unassailable, capable of eradicating all darkness and filth.
"Boundless Heavenly Light!"
With a wave of his hand, the God of Light summoned a vast circular formation that spread across the sky, blotting out the sun. The formation was adorned with intricate, arcane runes that seemed to touch the very essence of the universe's rules.
The formation rumbled, and the runes vibrated.
In the next instant, an endless torrent of blinding white light cascaded from the sky, banishing all shadows and making the night-bound world below as bright as day. This purifying and terrifying light, with its immense power, poured down like a waterfall, smashing into the earth.
Directly beneath this heavenly barrage stood the World Devourer, a strong-tier godlike being and primordial wild god who had been locked in a long and grueling struggle with the God of Light.
The World Devourer and the primordial Sun God were comparable in power. However, during the First Dawn War, the World Devourer had achieved much more impressive feats, drawing the attention of the Creator Annam, who personally intervened to kill it.
Like the primordial Sun God, the World Devourer had a spherical form, a common shape among wild gods born during the chaotic formation of the cosmos, influenced by the celestial bodies of that era.
Among these spherical wild gods, four stood out prominently:
- The Primordial Sun God
- The World Devourer
- The Mother of Monsters
- The Star of Doom
All four were strong-tier godlike beings.
Unlike the Primordial Sun God, the World Devourer lacked the numerous eyes, tentacles, and mouths that characterized its counterpart.
Instead, the World Devourer's body was covered in a metallic, armored layer, crisscrossed with rows of spikes and sharp projections, creating an imposing presence.
But the most striking feature was the massive, gaping maw that dominated the center of its body, occupying nearly half of its diameter. This maw was lined with spiraling, razor-sharp teeth like a monstrous meat grinder, with the outermost ring of teeth being exceptionally long and sharp, gleaming with a cold, metallic sheen.
Above this gaping maw were a pair of narrow, flat golden eyes filled with a violent rage.
As the Boundless Heavenly Light descended, the World Devourer twisted its body, opening its enormous, abyssal maw wide to face the oncoming torrent of light.
Boom!
The divine light from the God of Light surged forth, pouring endlessly into the World Devourer's mouth.
The World Devourer's entire body glowed with a layer of searing white light. Meanwhile, the spiral teeth within its maw spun rapidly, crunching and consuming the scalding, molten-hot light of the Boundless Heavenly Light.
Rows of teeth melted in the intense light, only to be replaced almost instantly by new fangs.
Gnashing its teeth, the World Devourer pushed against the flow, devouring the light before biting down on the celestial formation that was emitting the Boundless Heavenly Light, shattering and breaking it apart.
"Pelor, is that all you've got?"
"Your divine light barely fills my stomach. It's not enough to even satiate me."
Despite its bravado, the World Devourer was not unscathed from consuming the divine light.
Its steel-like teeth were mostly melted, though they regrew quickly due to its extraordinary regenerative abilities. Additionally, its metallic carapace bore countless hairline fractures, faintly glowing with white light, resembling intricate patterns in its skin.
"Rest assured, my divine power is boundless. I can fill your insatiable appetite."
"I'm just afraid you won't be able to handle it, and you'll burst apart."
The God of Light's face remained calm, even as he spoke.
As he finished speaking, the World Devourer lunged forward, its massive body, thousands of meters in diameter, hurtling through the sky like a ravenous star, aiming to devour the God of Light.
The World Devourer had few complex abilities.
Its strength lay in its ability to devour anything with its invincible maw and its formidable defenses and regenerative capabilities.
During the First Dawn War, it consumed countless material worlds as mere snacks, and numerous gods perished in its jaws.
Its ability to devour all energy and its deadly bite made it a particularly troublesome wild god.
Most gods avoided close combat with the World Devourer. Engaging it up close was akin to dancing on a knife's edge. Being swallowed by the World Devourer meant certain death, even for a god in peak condition, leaving no remains.
The God of Light, too, preferred to avoid close combat with the World Devourer.
Although his close combat abilities were not weak, they were not comparable to the World Devourer's.
Raising his right hand, the God of Light channeled his divine power into his palm. In an instant, it seemed as if he was holding a miniature sun, its light brilliant and dazzling, too bright to look at directly.
More radiant, white light gathered around this miniature sun, forming a razor-sharp ring that vibrated at an incredibly high frequency.
"Light Solar Disc!"
With a flick of his arm, the God of Light hurled the blazing sun with its sharp disc. It traced a dangerous and dazzling arc through the sky, shooting towards the World Devourer.
"Such a tasty little morsel. I'll happily devour it."
The World Devourer growled, opening its maw wide.
But as the Light Solar Disc flew, it split into three, then into nine, and in the blink of an eye, multiplied into countless discs, creating a torrential downpour of solar disks. Each one was like a droplet in a rainstorm, but unlike ordinary raindrops, these discs carried the searing heat of a sun's core.
Under the God of Light's command, millions of Light Solar Discs swarmed like bees, raining down in a barrage of searing arcs from all directions, engulfing the World Devourer.
Faced with this onslaught, the golden eyes of the World Devourer grew serious.
It opened its maw as wide as possible, nearly tearing itself apart, its entire front becoming a terrifying, cavernous mouth. Then it took a deep breath.
Whoosh!
A massive gust of wind, visible to the naked eye, surged forth like a tornado.
A significant portion of the Light Solar Discs were swept into the vortex, unable to escape, and were continuously devoured by the World Devourer, illuminating the horrors within its maw like brilliant fireworks.
However, a substantial number of Light Solar Discs evaded the maw, circling around to the World Devourer's back.
Buzzing, the discs vibrated at high frequencies, striking the World Devourer's steel-like carapace and sending up a shower of blinding sparks. After a brief struggle, they sliced through the carapace, embedding themselves.
Soon, the World Devourer's back was bristling with numerous Light Solar Discs.
In the next moment.
Before the World Devourer could shake them off.
Each Light Solar Disc began to contract and concentrate, their light growing increasingly intense and blinding.
Finally… Boom! Boom! Boom!
Deafening explosions rang out like a barrage of thunder, and in the roar of the blast, the entire sky was painted in searing white, filled with endless heavenly fire and radiant light.
"Pelor, that hurts! I will eat you, tear your flesh apart, and chew you to pieces!"
Amidst the inferno, the World Devourer's deep voice rumbled.
Whoosh!
Engulfed in a layer of divine fire, the World Devourer streaked through the heavens, leaving a fiery trail, its body blurring as it teleported directly in front of the God of Light.
The God of Light maintained a human-like form of similar size to an ordinary person.
The World Devourer's gaping maw now filled his entire vision. He could clearly see its rows of razor-sharp teeth and smell the foul stench from its mouth.
Divine power surged.
Shrouded in brilliant white light, the God of Light shot upward like a blazing sun, narrowly avoiding the World Devourer's bite. He then twisted in mid-air, passing over the World Devourer's head, trying to put some distance between them.
At that moment, the World Devourer's spherical body rotated, snapping its jaws from below upwards with a forceful upward bite towards the God of Light.
The distance between them was minimal.
Despite this, there was no sign of panic or dread on the God of Light's face.
The World Devourer was not particularly fast, and the God of Light had calculated that, even as a radiant blur, he could stay slightly ahead. In battles among deities, what often seemed like close calls were usually well within their calculated expectations.
However, this time, things didn't go as the God of Light had anticipated.
Because another entity had entered the fray, disrupting his fight with the World Devourer.
As the God of Light evaded the World Devourer's bite, the ground beneath them trembled and split into deep, dark chasms, emitting a faint, eerie black-purple mist with the unmistakable stench of the Abyss.
"Abyssal Rift."
In another material world, the eyes of the observing silver dragon narrowed.
As the earth heaved and cracked, a second sun, crimson as blood, began to rise from the abyssal rift in the ground.
Whoosh!
The blood-red solar rays swept across the battlefield, grazing the God of Light's form.
In an instant, the brilliant white light surrounding the God of Light turned a deep crimson, flickering erratically.
Simultaneously, the God of Light's expression shifted dramatically, his speed decreasing slightly.
Snap!
The World Devourer's maw snapped shut with a thunderous crash that echoed throughout the material world, sending shivers down spines.
A flash of radiant white light darted away from the World Devourer, stabilizing in another direction.
The God of Light frowned deeply, anger simmering in his eyes as he glanced down at his body.
Due to the interference, his speed had dropped just enough to prevent him from fully dodging the World Devourer's attack. As a result, his entire lower half was now missing.
On the other side.
The World Devourer chewed slowly, its eyes narrowing in pleasure.
"Pelor, your lower half tastes exquisite."
"The flavor is delightful, and the energy is bountiful. Absolutely wonderful."
The God of Light's lower body had been bitten off and consumed by the World Devourer.
Ignoring the taunting words of the World Devourer, the God of Light's expression darkened.
Light converged around him, reconstructing a new lower half. Although he appeared whole again, his aura was significantly weakened, indicating the severity of his injuries.
Without giving the World Devourer another glance, the God of Light turned his focus to the crimson sun rising from the ground.
This sun was unlike any ordinary celestial body.
It exuded an aura of bloodlust, malevolence, and evil. Its rays were blood-red, instilling deep fear in all who beheld it. Yet, unmistakably, it was a sun—an evil and blazing sun.
At the center of this crimson sun stood a tall, humanoid figure.
It had an almost human-like body with orange-yellow skin, and where its face should have been, there was a cluster of flames instead of facial features. Behind its head, black smoke swirled and drifted, lacking any definitive shape, resembling ethereal hair.
This was Tezca, the God of Sun and Malefic Fire.
More precisely, the God of Sun and Evil Fire.
Among the pantheon, more than one deity wielded dominion over the sun.
- Lathander, the Lord of the Dawn
- Pelor, the God of Light
- Tezca, the God of Sun and Malefic Fire
Of these, both Lathander and Pelor were benevolent deities revered by many faithful followers.
Tezca, the God of Sun and Malefic Fire, was a stark contrast.
He was an unabashedly malevolent deity.
Despite his status as a greater deity, he had few followers, mostly consisting of evildoers and criminals.
Based on the number of followers alone, Tezca should only be a weak god. However, he was a greater deity.
Because Tezca's divine power was fueled by blood sacrifices.
He demanded the hearts of living beings as offerings to stoke his evil fire.
In the material worlds under his influence, he extorted regular sacrifices from the inhabitants, threatening to halt the sun's rise or even scorch the sky with ten suns if his demands were not met, subjecting countless lives to a living hell.
Both Pelor and Lathander detested Tezca.
But they couldn't do much about him.
Tezca belonged to a formidable pantheon known as the Maztec Pantheon. This pantheon included three greater deities and six intermediate deities, including Tezca himself.
The current chief deity of the Maztec Pantheon, Zaltec, the War God of Heart-Eating, was another demonic god residing in the Abyss. Like Tezca, Zaltec had a twisted fascination with consuming hearts and was perpetually caught in a state of rage and hunger.
They were not part of the standard Pantheon.
To the gods, these Abyssal demons were no different from demon lords. In fact, they posed an even greater threat than the demon lords.
"Such malevolent gods not only fail to aid in the Second Dawn War, but they also backstab the gods fighting the wild gods."
"When the situation stabilizes, we must purge them all."
Garon's eyes narrowed as he watched, contemplating silently.
Buzz, buzz, buzz.
Centered around the God of Sun and Malefic Fire, a burst of blood-red solar rays spread outwards, staining the sky and earth with a dark, ominous hue, confronting the God of Light's radiant white light. With Pelor in a weakened state, Tezca held the advantage.
"Tezca, you are a deity, yet you attack another deity in the midst of our war against the wild gods."
"Are you abandoning your divine nature to join the ranks of the wild gods?"
Pelor's voice was stern, and his brow furrowed deeply as he spoke.
Tezca's fiery eyes flashed with malevolence. His voice was deep and rough as he replied slowly, "Whether gods or wild gods, it makes no difference to me. What does it matter if the world perishes?"
"Pelor, cease your prattle. I want your solar dominion."
As a sun deity and the most notorious and greedy among them, Tezca had long coveted the solar powers of Pelor and Lathander. However, he had never found a suitable opportunity to seize them.
The outbreak of the Second Dawn War provided Tezca with the perfect opportunity.
He had been observing the battle between Lathander and the primordial Sun God in secret. However, attacking Lathander first would have alerted Pelor, who was slightly stronger.
Thus, Tezca chose to forgo attacking Lathander and instead focused on Pelor, waiting for the right moment.
Just moments ago, Tezca saw his chance and struck while Pelor was deeply engaged with the World Devourer.
"Hand over your solar dominion, or I will tear your body apart, extract your heart, and take the solar dominion myself."
Tezca's voice was cold as he glared at Pelor, his body radiating a sinister, blood-red light.
At this critical moment, as Tezca confronted Pelor with malevolent intent, Garon observed from another material world. The silver dragon's eyes gleamed with resolve.
"The situation is dire. If Pelor falls, the balance could shift drastically in favor of the wild gods."
"This needs immediate intervention."
Garon's massive wings spread wide as he prepared to enter the fray, the power of time swirling around him.
