"Red Dragoness, why do you want to invade this king's territory?!" I asked coldly.
In the sky above, Carolina, who was drawn by the sudden fluctuation of spells, abandoned the use of any door and looked at the black dragon walking out of the giant white light door with vigilance.
The opponent's size placed great pressure on her.
However, what made Carolina feel a little strange was why the black dragon merely teleported her away instead of giving her a harsh lesson and then teleporting her. The dragon scales that had been broken by the tail strike and claw strike of the black dragon's surprise attack were, to her, neither painful nor itchy. It was hardly a lesson at all.
In other words, for the evil dragon, this level of retaliation did not qualify as a lesson. At the very least, she would have had to vomit a few tons of blood and break a few bones to consider it one.
Black Dragons are creatures of malice and unrelenting arrogance, constantly seeking opportunities to assert their dominance. They relish proving their superiority, especially over other dragon types, with Red Dragons—renowned as the strongest of the Chromatic Dragons—being a prime target for their contempt.
Should a Black Dragon encounter a weaker adult Red Dragon, it would stop at nothing to overturn the perception of its inferiority. If the opponent were male, the Black Dragon would humiliate and overpower him; if female, the Black Dragon would ruthlessly impose its will, by r@ping her, forcing the Red Dragoness into submission. Driven by sheer spite and pettiness, the Black Dragon would go so far as to ensure she bore its offspring, if he had nothing else to do. An act meant to taunt the entire race of Red Dragons. For Black Dragons, there is no limit to their vindictiveness—they thrive on such acts of cruelty, reveling in the chaos they leave behind.
Carolina thought quickly and answered cautiously,
"I have no intention of invading your territory. I just came here to inform you."
"What's the notice?" I frowned, slightly confused.
"The Crimson Mother has issued a summons for all adult Chromatic dragons on the mainland to gather at the Crimson Nest. There is an important announcement," Carolina said.
Crimson Mother?
I thought for a moment, then found information about the Crimson Mother from the Dragon Heritage.
[Crimson Mother]
[Legendary Red Dragoness, Ancient Red Dragon: A powerful evil dragon that rampaged across the Central Continent a thousand years ago. The Crimson Legion led by her destroyed multiple kingdoms, dozens of principalities, and other power groups large and small. More than ten legendary strong men fell beneath her dragon wings. As a result of her actions, both alien races and humans suffered greatly, and the Crimson Disaster swept through almost half the continent. In the end, a meeting of all races on the mainland was urgently convened. The legendary Gold Dragon 'Ignis' led a team to fight the Crimson Mother. Both sides sustained heavy losses, the Crimson Disaster receded, and the legendary Gold Dragon 'Ignis' returned to Dragon Island, which was then closed for the next 900 years. And it remain so]
These memories had been passed down by the black dragon who had witnessed the Crimson Disaster thousands of years ago. It is worth mentioning that the black dragon had also served as a legion commander under the Crimson Mother and held a high status.
"I guess you also know the legend of the Crimson Mother. If the Crimson Mother learns about the existence of the Black Dragon King, she will be very happy for you to join her," Carolina said politely.
It was a very, very rare occurrence for an arrogant red dragoness to speak politely to a black dragon.
"When did I say I wanted to join the Crimson Nest?" I asked strangely.
Carolina was at a loss for words but explained nonetheless. "Once the Crimson Mother awakens, all the forces on the mainland will attack our Chromatic dragons. This is inevitable. Your Majesty, the Black Dragon King, although your strength is formidable, even the Crimson Mother's city requires a large number of Chromatic dragons to fight against the mainland forces. Fighting alone will only make you stand at the forefront of the wave."
I frowned slightly, thought for a moment, and, keeping a cautious attitude, did not deny it outright. "Fine, I'll go to the Crimson Nest. But if the Crimson Mother is born and an attack happens, the Black Wing Nest will also support it. If necessary, I will send my dragonborn legion to assist the Crimson Nest in its campaign."
Does this count as agreement? Carolina breathed a sigh of relief, feeling joy in her heart.
Winning a legendary black dragon to join the camp was a great achievement.
Yes, Carolina recognized the Black Dragon as a legendary black dragon, and definitely not an ordinary one.
An ordinary legendary black dragon is only thirty or forty meters in size. This black dragon, with an exaggerated size of fifty meters and a strange yet handsome appearance, was certainly a mutant.
Among the Chromatic dragons across the continent, the Crimson Mother's dragon body might be the only one larger than this Black Dragon King.
Among dragons, although small true dragons can become legendary at just over ten meters and emperor dragons may reach hundreds of meters, among Chromatic dragons, a black dragon over forty meters in size is definitely legendary.
Carolina took out the Crimson Nest's communication item and handed it to me—it was a crimson dragon scale.
This dragon scale exuded a weak but terrifying energy level.
"These are the shed dragon scales of the Crimson Mother. They are only given to the truly powerful among Chromatic dragons. With the Crimson Scales, Lord Black Dragon King, you can directly contact the Crimson Mother."
"Give me your communication tools as well," I said calmly.
Even though I had been given the Crimson Mother's communication tool, I wouldn't dare to contact her. The gap between our strengths was too great. Although Chromatic dragons won't easily kill each other, when the strength gap is this wide, I couldn't feel safe.
Moreover, this world is essentially a place where strength reigns supreme, and the weak are preyed upon.
Who knows if the Crimson Mother killing an ordinary Chromatic dragon would prompt punishment from Tiamat, the Mother of Evil Dragons?
Frankly, if a dragon of the Crimson Mother's rank were to help Tiamat, Tiamat would probably turn a blind eye.
Carolina was a little surprised but still handed over her communication item.
Isn't this Black Dragon King interested in my mother? Carolina couldn't help but murmur doubts in her heart.
Although she wasn't fond of mating, if the partner was a powerful legendary dragon like the Black Dragon King, it wasn't entirely out of the question.
After exchanging some more information with Carolina, she used any door to teleport away.
Looking at the deserted island and the boundless ocean in the distance, I fell into deep thought.
Crimson Mother
"The mainland is going to be in turmoil, so that's why the legendary guys just let me go wild while they were getting ready for her to show up.." I muttered to myself.
Unlike the Red Robe Mage Association, whose influence had been largely restricted to the central part of the continent, the birth of the Crimson Mother was a continental-level event.
No, in addition to the central continent, the four subcontinents surrounding it would definitely feel the impact.
This was a plane-level upheaval.
"I have a bad feeling. It seems I need to obtain the high-level teleportation spell as soon as possible. If something goes wrong, I'll have a way to escape," I concluded.
"It's time for Skye and the others to stop expanding. The territory is already large enough to attract attention. On second thought, no—let Skye go all out to develop the Dragon Nest's power. It's better to seek vitality through rapid development than perish through stagnation."
If it eventually attracts enemies I can't handle, abandoning this foundation and relocating to the Underdark is always an option.
As long as I survive, the Black Wing Lair can be rebuilt and restored in more than ten years, potentially stronger than ever.
If I take my core family members with me when I escape, we could return to our current strength in just a few years.
The black dragon stepped into the giant white light door that had suddenly appeared, returning to the dragon's lair, even making a special appearance over the monster city to let the residents of Dragon Nest know that the Black Dragon King had 'returned in great victory.'
---
On the other side, Carolina continued to the next place where the adult dragon lived, conveying the order from the Crimson Mother.
The wasteland east of the Dark Forest.
Under the guidance of the Crimson Scale, the red dragoness Carolina found the dragon castle where the Queen of Darkness, Lyanna, lived. In order to quickly locate the bright or dark Chromatic dragons on the mainland, the Crimson Mother created special crimson scale props using a large amount of blood from Chromatic dragons. These props could guide the user to the traces of the Chromatic dragons.
"This is it," Carolina said as she looked at the dragon castle below, concealing her presence.
The specially created Crimson Scales only detect Chromatic dragons of a certain strength, with the minimum standard being a young dragon. For weaker Chromatic dragons, the Crimson Scale's response would be very weak unless the distance was extremely close.
Carolina hid herself, approached the dragon castle, and sniffed the scent of the Chromatic dragon living there.
It's a black dragon again.
Although she could sense from the smell that this black dragon was not very strong, Carolina, remembering her encounter with the Black Dragon King earlier, felt a shadow cast over her heart. She no longer dared to act as arrogantly as before.
A dragon roar, loud enough to sound like gold cracking stone, announced the arrival of the dragoness above.
Below, a dissatisfied and angry dragon roar echoed from the dragon castle. A nearly 20-meter-long black dragoness with jagged bones rose into the sky, her brown and yellow eyes blazing with fury.
"Who dares disturb my domain?"
Lyanna was speechless as she looked at the mature red dragoness hovering above the clouds. The red dragon's exaggeratedly strong body measured thirty-five meters, exuding a biological aura that made the air feel heavy. In an instant, Lyanna's dragon scales stood on end. Spiritual energy surged through her body, coating her scales. She entered her strongest combat mode, her momentum rapidly soaring.
When Carolina saw the 20-meter-long black dragoness charging toward her, she calmed down from her earlier nervousness. Thinking of the terrifying old dragons she had encountered, she began to feel irritated.
How dare a black dragon, who has only just grown up, be so arrogant in front of her? Even a mature black dragon would lower its head and tuck its tail when faced with Carolina!
However, before Carolina could express her dissatisfaction, the aura of the black dragon began to rise sharply. Within moments, it shifted from that of a typical young black dragon to a terrifying aura akin to that of a black dragon five or six hundred years old, one nearing its prime.
"Another black dragon who practices psionics—and it seems her psionic abilities are quite advanced," Carolina muttered, slightly surprised by Lyanna's transformation.
"Don't be so nervous. I'm not here to fight you," Carolina said as she unleashed her powerful red dragon aura, completely suppressing the soaring Lyanna in an instant.
Lyanna regarded the mature red dragoness warily. She understood clearly that she stood no chance against this red dragon, whose power was overwhelming.
The strength of a red dragon in its prime begins at the top level below legendary status (sleeping with a broken body). A slightly stronger red dragon can even reach pseudo-legendary combat power, demonstrating extensive practice and skill.
And her own strength?
With her sixteenth-order black dragon biological order combined with her sixteenth-level special psionic profession, she could likely defeat an ordinary nineteenth-level professional if she went all out. However, the gap between the nineteenth-level master tier and the twentieth-level legendary tier was vast—far greater than the gap between fifteenth and nineteenth levels.
If the strength of nineteenth-level professionals was divided into three tiers:
Third tier [Regular]: Can defeat an ordinary eighteenth-level professional, but with great effort.
Second tier [Elite]: Can defeat an ordinary eighteenth-level professional with ease and an ordinary nineteenth-level professional with significant effort.
First tier [Extreme]: Can compete with newly promoted legendary professionals, escape from their grasp, and easily defeat second-tier professionals. The strongest in this tier can contend with newly promoted legendary professionals and cut down ordinary masters effortlessly.
Carolina likely belonged to the strongest echelon of the first tier. Whether she was at the peak of the first tier or had legendary combat power, Lyanna could not tell.
As for Lyanna herself, she barely qualified as a second-tier professional.
"This is my communication tool. The information is recorded on it. Take a look for yourself," Carolina said, tossing a red light toward Lyanna. Without waiting for a response, she teleported away using a portal.
Although Lyanna was formidable, she wasn't strong enough among the Chromatic dragons to receive the Crimson Scales from the Crimson Mother. There was no need to flatter or coax her.
For Chromatic dragons like Lyanna, who were not significantly powerful, the best choice when the Crimson Mother returned would be to join the Crimson Nest—or to retreat completely, hide in a deserted area, and avoid worldly affairs.
But for a true dragon, the latter option was akin to a punishment. How could such a powerful creature be content to live like a worm in the dirt?
Lyanna grabbed the red dragon scale and frowned as she read the information it contained. Her expression shifted slightly.
She, too, understood the chaos the Crimson Mother's return would bring.
"But my current location is relatively safe. There's no rush to join the Crimson Nest now. Besides, if I join too early, I may end up as cannon fodder," Lyanna thought calmly, returning to her dragon nest to continue her practice.
For now, improving her strength was the priority. The growth of a dragon's biological order was slow. Breaking through to the seventeenth order would take at least a decade or even longer. But psionics were different. She had reached the sixteenth level of psionics years ago. With dedicated effort, she could break through to the seventeenth level relatively quickly.
Once that happened, her strength would increase significantly.

Three Days Later
Carolina appeared on the Southern Island further south of the Principality of Cass and unexpectedly found a nest of little dragons huddled together to keep warm.
"Thank you, Senior Red Dragon, for your life-saving grace," the little dragons said.
The growth stages of the dragons ranged from adolescence to young adulthood, consisting of one blue dragon, two green dragons, and three black dragons—a total of six little dragons—all expressing their gratitude for the arrival of the mature red dragon.
Beneath Carolina lay the corpse of a snake-like sea monster, dozens of meters long, sprawled across the ground.
Just moments earlier, the six little dragons had been pursued by this top-level, monster-class, snake-like sea creature and were ultimately saved by Carolina, who had sensed its aura.
"Huh," Carolina muttered as she detected the faint breath of a true dragon within the snake-like sea monster. With a swift slash, she cut open its abdomen. A large amount of internal organs spilled out, along with the mutilated corpse of a teenage black dragon.
Carolina frowned briefly, then turned her gaze to the six little dragons. "I'll send you to the Crimson Nest."
Reciting a mantra silently, she activated Any Door.
The six little dragons, still confused by the sudden turn of events, were pushed through the portal by Carolina's thick red dragon tail.
On the other side, the six little dragons felt the world shift. When their vision cleared, they found themselves standing in a land of red magma.
Their eyes were immediately drawn to the majestic active lava volcano in the distance.
The upper half of the vast volcano pierced deep into endless crimson fire clouds. At its peak, a crimson palace covering hundreds of kilometers rested in the volcano's eye. Like a pillar of the world, it constantly emitted astonishingly violent energy.
The six little dragons, relying on their inherited memories, instantly recognized the creation before them—a Mage Tower.
And it was not just any ordinary Mage Tower.
Mage Towers were generally constructed only by legendary mages. The process required mastery of highly advanced and intricate spells across various levels, alongside the creation of elemental pools, elemental orbs, and solidified teleportation arrays connected to elemental planes. Without the knowledge and wealth accumulated by legendary mages, constructing a Mage Tower was impossible.
In the distance, a group of red-scaled dragonmen noticed the six little dragons and flew toward them.
"New little dragons again," said the leader of the red-scaled dragonmen with an indifferent tone. "Come with us."
Intimidated by the terrifying aura exuding from the leader, the six little dragons obediently followed.
Beyond the lava volcano, the six little dragons saw a vast forest stretching into the horizon.
At the center of the ancient forest stood a green Mage Tower, towering thousands of meters high.
"This is the Emerald Green Tower, under the crown of the legendary green dragon 'Clever.' You two little green dragons, head over there. That is the green dragon's headquarters," the red-scaled dragonman leader instructed, pointing toward the tower that radiated immense energy. His tone grew respectful as he spoke.
The two young green dragons among the six exchanged nervous glances and swallowed hard.
Before they could take any action, a dozen green dragons emerged from the enormous forest. They ranged in age from teenagers to young adults and even adults.
