Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Julia's Kindness

Bryan sensed that the fans outside were growing overly excited. He shot Owen a subtle hand signal to stay alert, while Sam kept a close eye on the crowd as well.

The concert concluded with Julia Andrews taking her final bow. She expressed her gratitude to the audience and special guests, prompting deafening cheers from the fans. The Kodak Theatre's security personnel stood guard at the entrances leading to the stage to prevent any disturbances, but despite their efforts, things began to spiral out of control.

When fans saw Julia turning to leave, some became so overwhelmed with excitement that they tried to rush forward. Though security managed to block the first wave, more fans surged forward, creating a ripple effect. Many began vaulting over barriers in a desperate attempt to reach the stage, and the situation quickly deteriorated into chaos.

"Bryan, take Miss Andrews through the emergency exit!" Sam barked through the comms.

"Jim, Wright—hold the doors!"

"Owen, clear the way!"

The tension heightened as fans broke through the first security line. Jim and Wright barely managed to slam the backstage doors shut before the flood of fans could pour inside. Outside, the pounding on the door intensified as people threw themselves against it in an attempt to force their way through.

Sam rushed over to help Jim and Wright hold the doors. The three of them strained to keep the crowd at bay, buying precious time for Bryan and Owen to evacuate Julia.

Bryan firmly gripped Julia's arm, leading her swiftly down the corridor. Julia, visibly shaken, allowed herself to be pulled along without protest. If Bryan stopped, she stopped; when he walked, she followed. Owen was about ten meters ahead, moving quickly and scouting the path for any potential threats.

The commotion continued to escalate behind them, but for now, the corridor remained clear. Owen jogged ahead, carefully observing his surroundings while Bryan and Julia followed closely behind.

Suddenly, Owen noticed a shadowy movement to his left. Two figures in fan gear appeared out of nowhere and immediately spotted Julia. Their expressions shifted to wild excitement as they rushed toward her.

"OWEN!" Bryan shouted a warning.

Owen sprang into action, intercepting the two fans. While Bryan led Julia further down the corridor, one of the fans tried to push past Owen and threw a punch in desperation.

Owen sidestepped the attack and countered with a punch to the fan's stomach, causing him to double over in pain. A swift leg sweep sent the fan crashing to the ground. Before the fan could recover, Owen delivered a knockout kick.

The second fan hesitated, backing away nervously after witnessing what had happened to his companion. Seeing that he posed no further threat, Owen left him alone and hurried to catch up with Bryan and Julia.

Fortunately, the brief altercation did not delay their escape. Owen reached the back exit first and confirmed that the area was clear. Apart from the two fans he had dealt with, no other threats had appeared. He quickly retrieved the car and brought it to the door just as Bryan and Julia arrived.

Bryan helped Julia into the car before jumping in himself. Owen floored the gas pedal, speeding away from the Kodak Theatre.

Outside, a group of fans had caught sight of the vehicle and rushed toward it, but it was too late. All they could do was watch helplessly as the car disappeared into the distance.

Thirty Minutes Later – Hilton Hotel Presidential Suite

Back at the hotel, Julia was visibly shaken. She had performed countless concerts before, but never had things descended into such chaos. Bryan escorted her to her bedroom, assuring her that everything would be fine after a good night's sleep.

Meanwhile, Owen and Bryan stood guard in the suite's living room. After a short while, Julia's manager and the rest of the security team returned.

Sam, Wright, and Jim looked a bit worse for wear—some of their clothing had been torn during the scuffle with the fans—but they were otherwise unharmed. Sam briefly explained the situation and then went off to finalize additional security measures. The plan remained the same: Bryan and Owen would secure the interior while Wright and Jim handled the exterior.

As the night wore on, Julia's friends, who had arrived to check on her, eventually left. The assistants were also dismissed, and no crazed fans had followed them to the hotel. The suite grew quiet. Julia's manager invited Sam into one of the private rooms for a discussion.

After a while, Sam emerged from the room and gestured to Bryan and Owen, signaling that the job was complete. The two followed him to the door, ready to leave, when Julia suddenly reappeared.

"Mr. Bryan, Mr. Owen, could I have a moment?" she called out.

"I'll wait for you downstairs," Sam said tactfully, exiting the suite. Julia's manager also excused himself, leaving the three alone.

Julia approached with a shy smile and a faint blush on her cheeks. "Mr. Bryan, Mr. Owen, I'm truly sorry for earlier. I was so frightened that I didn't get a chance to thank you properly. I'm incredibly grateful for everything you did for me tonight."

"It was nothing. Just part of the job," Owen and Bryan replied in unison, exchanging amused glances.

"I'm not sure how to repay you, but here—this is my card," Julia said, handing them her business card. "If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to reach out. I'll do my best to help."

Bryan and Owen accepted the cards gratefully. Owen then hesitated for a moment before pulling out a notepad and pen. "Actually, Miss Andrews… my sister is a big fan of yours. Could I trouble you for an autograph? She'd be thrilled."

"My daughter's a fan too," Bryan added with a grin.

"Of course! In fact, I'll give you both signed copies of my album," Julia said excitedly. She rushed back to her bedroom and returned moments later with two albums, which she signed on the spot.

"Thank you so much, Miss Andrews," Owen said.

"Please, call me Julia. I'll be in Los Angeles for a while. If your sister and daughter want to visit, I'd be happy to meet them. Or maybe they could even show me around—I've never had the chance to properly explore the city," she suggested warmly.

"Really? That would be amazing! Amanda will be over the moon. She was just complaining earlier about not getting tickets to your concert!" Owen laughed.

After a brief but pleasant conversation, Julia bid them farewell. Downstairs in the hotel lobby, Sam, Wright, and Jim were waiting on a lounge sofa. Owen and Bryan joined them.

Sam began handing out payment envelopes. "Here's yours, Wright. Jim—yours. Bryan, this is yours. And Owen, you did great today. This is yours."

Owen accepted the envelope and tucked it into his pocket without opening it. From the feel of it, he estimated it contained around $1,500—more than the $1,000 Sam had promised.

"Clients were impressed," Sam explained. "Julia's manager just referred us to two more gigs. That extra cash is your bonus."

Bryan and Owen expressed their thanks. Sam then added, "Our next assignment's in New York—another concert security job. You guys interested?"

Bryan shook his head. "No, I'm staying in L.A. to spend time with my daughter."

"I'm out too. I've got work," Owen said.

Sam shrugged. "Fair enough. Hopefully, we'll get to work together again. And Owen—next time we're in town, I expect more of that Chinese barbecue!"

"Deal," Owen laughed. "Just give me a heads-up, and I'll have everything ready."
