Chapter 115: Spar Partner
"That's the end of this class. You can contact me anytime for any questions. See you next week."
The teacher of the artificery class — A dwarf with blue hair and beard — took his belongings and left, leaving us to process what he had just explained.
"To think that Gilbert himself is our teacher…"
"He looks more mature than in that show."
"How did they convince him to become a teacher?"
All the students began to talk excitedly, speaking about the identity of our artificery teacher.
Yeah, he was one of the land of challenges' survivors, Gilbert.
Today was Tuesday, 2 days after my combat class, and while everyone was happy about Gilbert's simple explanation, I had different thoughts.
'I'm skipping this useless class.'
The class was still starting with the basics — things I had learnt when I was a new awakener — so I didn't feel like attending this class anymore.
I was already capable enough to start my own artifacts business, and if not for the demons' threats, I'd have decided to just make an artifacts store in the black market and live peacefully… while working as an assassin.
Anyways, there was no such a thing as grades or attendance, so skipping some classes and relying on books wouldn't cause any troubles.
With calm steps, I began to leave the class, ignoring the cold blue eyes that were fixed on me.
For some reason, Liora would keep her eyes on me whenever we were close. From the library to the streets and even my store — she always locked her eyes on me.
'She isn't angry because of our fight, right?'
[You turned her face into a mess. I'd try to poison you if I was in her place.]
"...."
I shook my head ignoring this matter. I'd simply beat the shit out of her again if she tried. I rarely drank anything suspicious.
After leaving the main building, I looked at Glutton and ordered: "Go and do your job."
He narrowed his azure eyes angrily but then he flew into a gate while sighing inwardly.
After a heartbeat, I began to channel my aether, ready to make a spatial gate, but suddenly, Liora approached me.
"Ah… Raylin, sorry but… do you have a second?"
I stopped channeling my arther as I raised an eyebrow. "Yes?"
She looked hesitant for a moment, head lowered and avoiding eye contact, but after a heartbeat her eyes glowed as she spoke: "Can we have… another spar? whenever you are free?"
[SHE WANTS REVENGE! HAHAHA!]
'Shut up!' I silenced Glutton as I looked at her with confusion.
"Why do you want to fight me again? Are you still mad?"
Liora shook her head and spoke with her usual cold voice.
"No, but I want a spar partner to improve. I… have my own reason to get stronger. I want you to help me."
'You are wrong, ha!'
I let out a sigh. "Sorry, Liora. We are friends, but I don't have a reason to help you now. My words may be harsh, but I don't want to waste my time currently."
The glow in Liora's eyes fainted as she lowered her head.
I felt bad for her. I also wanted to deepen our relationship, but her timing was just wrong.
I had to earn some coins to buy what I needed in my free time, and she was too weak to help me grow. She was the only one that would get benefits from the spars.
"What… what if I made you some artifacts as payment?" She suddenly spoke again, raising her head and looking into my eyes.
"Hmm?"
Seeing me showing interest, she continued: "You can either use or sell them. I'll make you one after every spar as a payment."
I began to weigh her offer, thinking about the benefits I could get. The illusion artifacts were sold for high prices and could help me in giving my stealth another layer. It wasn't a bad offer.
"Deal," I smiled while extending my hand, "Meet me today in my suite at 8AM."
She gave me a nod while shaking my hand. "Thank you."
After she finally left, I made a gate and teleported to an inn.
At the inn, I saw Glutton waiting for me, his eyes glaring sharply at me.
[You took too lon—!]
Before he could continue, I threw a mana potion into the air. He immediately used his gravity and pulled it into his beak.
[Hehe, I forgive you.]
"Oh, was that your raven? I was wondering why a spirit would be in my humble inn."
Suddenly, the inn's owner spoke, holding a wide grin on his face and looking at me with visible greed.
'At least try to hide it, bitch!'
I smiled at him. "I just heard some rumours about the drinks here — give me one of everything that doesn't contain alcohol. I'll pay you now."
"Ye-yes sir! Please sit until I finish them!"
The inn's owner rushed away instantly. As I sat on the closest chair, my senses were focusing at the inn on the other side of the street.
Especially a tigerman that was guiding a girl into his room.
"Please be gentle… it-it's my first time."
He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and laughed. "Hahaha! Don't worry."
Once she entered the room, he followed her and closed the door, then all my senses were cut off… except my hearing.
And from the noises I was hearing… that degenerate didn't seem to care that it was her first. I started pitying that poor girl.
The problem was my spatial awareness, it showed them just sleeping on bed, not the mental image that my hearing was showing.
'Tsk, that's a problem.'
[Told you I wasn't the problem here! My senses aren't that far from you. He has something that makes a similar effect for the runes in the underground room.]
I let out a sigh as it was confirmed now — but that was a good thing.
That was literally the best thing he did. An item that could help me hide from the other's senses? I'd gladly accept that gift after killing him!
"Your drinks are here, sir." The owner of the inn finally arrived, holding a plate filled with different types of drinks.
I paid for the drinks and let Glutton drink them, ignoring the people's reactions upon seeing him open his beak like a blooming flower.
As I continued hearing what was happening in the room, a plan began to form in my head.
It wasn't too complicated, but it needed some patience and time.
The corners of my lips curved into a smile.
'Soon.'
