Chapter 18
“Alright, the last one is the big core.”
I could feel my excitement rising as I approached it.
Considering that I’d already gained a rare skill from the small core, I had high expectations for this one.
The general trend is that the size of the core is proportional to the rarity of the skill it contains.
So, the large core was almost certainly going to be the highlight.
“Alright, I’ll appraise this one now.”
I placed the core on the pedestal, and Eve’s voice sounded lighthearted as she began her appraisal.
“………………………………”
“What’s wrong?”
Unlike before, Eve didn’t immediately provide the result, so I called out to her.
“…………………………The last two are [Temple] and [Field].”
“What?”
I let out a strange noise, completely taken aback. Eve’s words were so unexpected compared to the skills I had been anticipating.
“Are those skills?”
Even as I asked, I was running through my thoughts. Up until now, the transparent cores had contained some kind of skill. So, this one too would likely have a skill… but what kind?
I knew the words, but I had no idea what effect they would have.
Without waiting for my confusion to clear, Eve continued explaining.
“It’s an expansion-type skill. It seems you can connect it with ‘The World’ and materialize it.”
“Expansion-type? I’m not sure I fully understand. Let’s hear the details first.”
“Shall I explain how it works?”
“Yeah, go ahead.”
“First, let’s talk about [Temple]. I’ll take questions at the end.”
With that, Eve began her explanation.
[Temple]… This skill allows you to set up a temple. By offering a prayer once per day, you receive a [Blessing]. The blessing lasts for 24 hours.
The possible blessings are randomly selected from the following list:
Speed +100%
Power +100%
Stamina +100%
Magic +100%
Luck +100%
Experience Points +100%
Recovery Speed +100%
“Well, this is something else.”
It was as powerful as the small core’s ability. Even though the blessings were random, any of them would be useful. The fact that you could receive one just by offering a prayer was almost overpowered.
“This explanation is only for you, Master. As for the skill itself, it’s called [Prayer]. It’s a minor blessing, granting a little bit of good fortune.”
Eve added a supplementary explanation. It seemed this skill too was enhanced by ‘The World,’ making even minor abilities more effective when I used them.
As I processed this analysis…
“I’ll go ahead and summon it.”
The large core glowed, and a divine light overflowed from it, followed by the appearance of something. I squinted my eyes from the brightness. Gradually, the light faded, and I saw the temple before me.
“…It’s smaller than I expected.”
A miniature temple, about the size of a child’s playhouse, was sitting there.
“It’s still not very powerful yet.”
Ignoring Eve’s comment, I felt the urge to test its effect.
“So what should I do? Should I just pray?”
“Yes, if you pray, you’ll receive the blessing.”
With her confirmation, I was about to pray when a thought occurred to me.
“Hey, you mentioned earlier that this is an expansion-type skill, right?”
“Yes, I did.”
“What exactly does that mean?”
I had never heard of this kind of skill before.
Eve responded to my question.
“This skill ranks up as you take certain actions.”
I see. That must be why the temple was small, and why Eve had mentioned its power being weak.
“So what actions do I need to take?”
Eve seemed to know the conditions. I eagerly waited for her response.
“To level up the temple… you need to make a donation.”
I swallowed nervously. Eve paused for a brief moment before continuing.
“Depending on the amount you donate, the building will grow more impressive, and the number of blessings you can receive will increase and become more powerful.”
…Looks like I can’t try it out right away.
It was, in a way, a very realistic skill.
