Chapter 206: AN ATTACK BEYOND IMAGINATION
Even if none of his other affinities could leave a mark, Logan's water affinity still worked. Not enough to overwhelm, but enough to matter.
Soon, he waved his hand and fire began to materialize in the air, multiple blazing orbs. In the next instant, ice wrapped around them, reshaping into bullets of frozen steel, their fiery cores burning from within. With a flick of his wrist, they shot forward.
But the wyvern wasn't going to sit still. Its wings flared wide, releasing a violent gust.
Fwoooosh!
The wind smashed into the barrage, scattering them all off course, all but two.
Thud! Thud!
Those two bullets tore past the gale and slammed into the beast's hide.
And then...
Boom! Boom!
The sharp tips pierced its skin and buried deep inside before the fire within exploded like bombs.
The wyvern howled in pain, its cry shaking the ground and everything around it.
Logan's eyes lit up. "Finally! Something that actually works."
Noah and Ali noticed it too. "That boy! Never fails to impress me." Ali chuckled.
Logan's quick thinking had turned the tide.
"Guildmaster, Mr. Starwind, pin its head to the ground! Don't let it breathe fire!" Logan's voice rang out, steady and commanding.
The two veterans reacted instantly. They didn't even need a second to grasp his plan.
Both raised their hands at once. Gravity surged.
Boom!
A low hum resonated through the air. The wyvern felt a huge pressure towering over its massive body, it trembled and collapsed, its head smashing against the ground. It struggled violently, but with two S-class hunters applying their power together, even a creature of this level couldn't break free easily.
Now it was Logan's turn.
He lifted his hand high.
Five massive spheres of fire bloomed in the air, each one blazing hotter than molten rock. Then, layer by layer, ice wrapped around them, shaping into enormous spearheads. But Logan didn't stop there. With air magic, he set them spinning.
Slowly at first. Then faster. Faster—until the rotation blurred, until the space around them seemed to distort. The aura of destruction was suffocating.
Even from far away, while fighting their own battles, many hunters felt the sudden shift in the air.
This power, it froze their mind.
Some, by chance, caught sight of the spinning spearheads hovering in the air. Their eyes widened, disbelief etched across their faces.
"What the hell… are those?!"
And then...
Flick!
Logan's wrist twisted, and the spears shot forth, ripping through the air with a sharp whistling shriek.
Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud!
A heartbeat of silence followed.
And then...
BOOOOM!
The explosions detonated inside the wyvern's flesh. The boss convulsed as green, pus-like blood erupted from gaping wounds. Its scales shattered, its hide burned and torn, its body finally marked with visible, grotesque wounds.
Just like before, the tips pierced through its hide...
But this time, the rotation drove them in even deeper.
And with their massive size, the destructive force was on an entirely different scale.
Each one exploded from within, tearing the beast apart from the inside out.
The impact was so fierce, so devastating, that it rattled not only the battlefield nearby but even the monsters and hunters locked in combat far in the distance.
"Superb. That boy is really something." Ali's tone was enough to tell how excited he was.
And Noah?
Thrill, shock, curiosity, maybe even gladness.... A mixture of emotions swirled inside him. "How did he get this strong? How?! Can just the word talented even define him?" His mind raced.
That last spell of Logan's, was magic layering. Noah wasn't just anybody. He could tell at first glance. But three spells at once? To materialize with such ease and to control each one's power so that all worked in harmony and complemented each other...
There was only one word that could describe power like this at his age...
"Monstrous."
"Logan! Just how deep does your secret… and your power… truly go?" Noah whispered.
On the other hand...
Being wounded by its prey, the boss went into a frenzy. Breaking free from the gravity magic of the two veterans, it thrashed violently, its wings beating once...
Just once....
But the shockwave forced the three of them nearby to stumble. Green blood poured from its wounds, sizzling against the stone, filling the air with a sickening stench. Flames flickered deep within its throat, glowing like molten embers.
Then it spread its wings wide and let out a furious howl, like a battle cry that shook the air itself.
The cry wasn't just rage. It was a command. Every monster fighting in the distance heard it clearly. For a brief moment, they froze, as if something inside them had suddenly shifted.
And then, all at once, they stormed toward the boss.
The hunters, still locked in battle, tried desperately to block the monsters' path, cutting down many and turning them into corpses. But the creatures paid no heed. Not even death slowed them.
They charged on, relentless, all of them surging toward the boss, as if under some unseen mind control.
Ali's brows twitched. "Not good." The words slipped out in a low voice. His gaze hardened as he continued,
"The three of us can't handle them all. And if every hunter ends up fighting here, in the same place against both the boss and its minions… many will die before they even realize what hit them."
In the meantime, the boss hovered in the air, its wings spread wide, as though declaring that it was done playing games.
A low, guttural rumble rose from deep within its chest. The glow in its throat flared brighter, swelling like a miniature sun. Heat waves rolled outward, scorching the very air.
Hunters in the distance paled, shouting in panic.
"It's going to breathe!"
"Take cover, now!"
Even Noah and Ali's expressions turned grim.
Logan's jaw tightened as well. "It's going all out. I don't think my water magic can neutralize it fully this time."
His mind raced. Thinking about what to do next.
And just then.....
To be continued.....
