Chapter 241: Restart, Spider-Man! [241]
The boundless ocean stretched to the horizon.
Waves surged violently as Carol flew across the sea, carrying Xia Luo's body at incredible speed. The raging waves lashed against his nanotech suit.
Whoosh!
Crack!
The nano-metal fragments swept away by the waves couldn't keep up with repairs. Pale purple skin was exposed, revealing exaggeratedly bulging muscles. The golden Spider insignia detached itself from the battle suit, transforming into golden webs that adhered directly to his skin.
Boom!!
Golden time-space energy erupted over the ocean, distorting the surrounding space instantly.
Sensing the disturbance before the spatial rift could fully manifest, Carol didn't hesitate. She hurled Xia Luo away to prevent being dragged into another universe.
Crash!!
The Invincible Spider-Man plunged into the ocean, sending massive waves soaring.
Above the sea, several fighter jets streaked across the sky.
"Warning! Warning! Leave this airspace immediately. This is the sovereign territory of Japan," an official voice announced over the jets' comms.
Carol frowned slightly. She wasn't debating whether to leave but had noticed golden time-space energy emanating from the jets.
Buzz~
Amidst the golden light flickering, Xia Luo stood atop one of the jets, his feet sliding effortlessly across the skyline.
Seeing this, Carol's form transformed into photon energy, propelling herself forward at blinding speed.
"So, you're resorting to taking hostages now?"
Encased in cosmic energy, Carol leveled with the jet, unimpressed by Xia Luo's antics.
Xia Luo shot her a glance. "This time, I'll play the villain. If you can force this jet to a stop, I'll apologize to Nick Fury. Dare to take the bet?"
As he spoke, Carol casually pulled a flask from her pocket and sneaked a sip.
"Of course, but the stakes are higher. I want the title of 'Invincible.' You can settle for second place, you pitiful little bug."
Xia Luo: "..."
She's drunk? Seriously?
Why doesn't it show on her face?!
"Bring it on!"
He smiled faintly, stamping his foot hard. The sudden force made the jet veer off course.
"No! I'm heading straight for the Emperor!"
The panicked pilot let out a terrified wail upon realizing the jet was uncontrollable.
"It's the modern era! Who still sees the Emperor?" Carol muttered under her breath before accelerating to intercept the rogue jet.
Boom~
Cosmic energy flared as the plummeting jet came to an almost physics-defying halt in midair.
"I win," Carol declared confidently. But as the jet grew larger in her view, her smugness turned to alarm.
"This is..."
She looked up to see Spider-Man poking his oversized head out, raising a slow middle finger.
"Brain-dead woman, unless you have an indestructible biological forcefield, you've already lost."
While Carol struggled with the jet, now reduced to ant size by a Pym disc, Xia Luo snapped his fingers. The jet resumed its descent, plummeting toward the sea.
"Crack~"
In the next second, miniature Carol pierced through the jet's structure, her small form unleashing explosive force.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A series of fiery sparks erupted from the jet's body. Smoke billowed before it finally spiraled into the ocean, raising a massive splash.
Far from the chaos, Xia Luo moved away, watching Carol discover the Pym disc on her shoulder.
She ripped it off, her expression darkening as her body returned to normal in a flash of energy.
Buzz~
Boom!!
Photon energy swept across the ocean, churning up towering waves. But Xia Luo's figure had already disappeared, giving her no chance to close in.
"You annoying bug! You won't escape me!"
Closing her eyes, Carol tracked the familiar energy signature, then turned and flew straight toward New York.
---
New York, Statue of Liberty.
Atop the torch, Xia Luo emerged in a glow of golden light.
Phew...
He exhaled heavily, slumping onto the torch.
"So tired... utterly exhausted."
The spider emblem on his chest dimmed repeatedly, showing signs of wear.
Continuous teleportation using temporal Spider magic had drained his energy drastically.
Even so, there was no way he could defeat Carol head-on.
No weaknesses, a Superman knockoff, impossible to bring down.
In terms of strength and speed, he was no match for her. Even soul magic was ineffective against her.
If not for Spider magic buying him time, he'd already have been pulverized.
I need a way to send her to another universe. Everyone's watching, after all.
Face matters—at least make this look good.
As he brooded, a golden portal appeared at the statue's base.
Carter and others stepped through, filling Xia Luo with a sense of foreboding.
"What are you guys doing here?"
He shot a resentful look at Wong, who patted his chest confidently.
"We're here to help you."
Carter nodded, scanning the surroundings. "Where is she?"
"I've already shaken her off."
Xia Luo descended, his gaze briefly settling on Harry and the others—especially the near-death Tony Stark.
The Spider emblem on Xia Luo's chest flickered instinctively.
In the distance, radiant auroras streaked across the night sky. Xia Luo's spider-sense screamed warnings, making his brows furrow.
Even drunk, Carol wouldn't annihilate the entire Avengers.
So what was this?
"Spider-Man, I found the stolen nano vibranium," came a voice from above.
A shadow darted through the sky as G'iah tossed a new Spider emblem toward Xia Luo.
Before he could thank her, she glanced nervously in Carol's direction and vanished.
Catching the emblem, Xia Luo watched as red and blue nano vibranium quickly fused with his suit.
Click, click, click...
In an instant, the nano vibranium emitted crimson mist, enhancing his suit's evolution.
Inspecting his upgraded armor, Xia Luo clenched his fist experimentally. The nano vibranium glowed faintly, storing kinetic energy in the Spider emblem on his chest.
The sensation was novel, but even with this upgrade, Xia Luo felt uneasy.
It wasn't Carol that worried him—it was the unknown threat looming on the horizon.
Buzz~
Before he could dwell on it, radiant auroras descended over the Statue of Liberty. Carol appeared, her golden hair flowing, cosmic energy surging around her.
"I'm done playing. Time to end this..."
Before she could finish, Max roared furiously and charged at her.
"For my idol, attack!!"
"For great friendship!" Quentin activated his effects equipment, summoning storm clouds overhead. Hidden drones created illusions of fearsome demons, which swarmed toward Carol.
Not to be outdone, Harry hurled all his pumpkin bombs.
"For... for the honor of the Parker family!!"
Carter tried to stop him. "Wait, you all, this is... For a promotion!"
She hurled her shield, following it with a full-speed charge. The Mark armor launched micro-missiles right behind her.
"For the dignity of Iron Man!!"
Tony gritted his teeth, his steps faltering. The enhanced reactor in his suit only intensified the pain in his heart. Palladium was rapidly poisoning his blood.
He knew his time was almost up.
Not even Spider-Man could save him now.
Iron Man's final appearance wasn't against some evil villain but an arrogant dimwit.
Still, he had no choice.
Might as well fight.
Electric arcs danced around Carol as she stood amidst the onslaught of lasers, missiles, and illusions. Yet her cosmic energy remained undeterred.
Grabbing the incoming shield, she unleashed an energy blast, sweeping across the battlefield. The Statue of Liberty's torch was severed by the high-energy beam, and Liberty Island was engulfed in flames.
Crackling sounds echoed as chaos unfolded...
The island's ground began to crumble, and waves of golden sand surged across the rivers, burying Carol's figure in seconds. However, the oppressive heat burned the sand away almost instantly.
Under the intense heat, large crystals formed from the sand, leaving Sandman without his usual arsenal.
Amid the chaos of the battlefield, the golden Spider-Man darted toward Carol, his form flickering.
BOOM!!
A golden fist, wrapped in violent shockwaves, smashed toward Carol's right cheek.
At the same time, temporal energy surged, distorting the surrounding space.
Carol, however, was prepared.
Lightspeed flight!
Buzz~
Bam! Bam! BAM!!
Almost simultaneously, Carter and the others were struck down, sent crashing to the ground. Only Xia Luo, guided by his Spider-sense, managed to barely evade Carol's surprise assault via teleportation.
"Damn it! If my Leopardon was here, I—ah! Ow, ow, ow!" Takuya Yamashiro's delayed reaction to the pain sent him into spasms on the ground.
Meanwhile, Carter and the others stared at the radiant figure hovering in the sky, their expressions growing increasingly numb.
Does this woman even have limits?!
That was the question burning in all their minds.
Soon, an answer arrived. Carol Danvers did have a limit.
As Xia Luo's unease deepened, the waters around the crumbling Liberty Island began to turn pitch black, corrupted by an unknown force.
Whoosh, whoosh~
The endless black waters surged, exuding an aura of overwhelming menace.
In that instant, everyone—whether it was Carter, the Avengers, or even Carol herself—felt the chilling sensation of being watched by some unfathomable, primal being. A gut-wrenching sense of dread crept into their hearts.
Carol's expression tightened for a fleeting moment before she regained her confidence.
No one can defeat me.
She was certain of this.
Whoosh, whoosh~
The black waters, seemingly alive, crawled ashore and gathered with terrifying speed.
The night grew darker still.
Even Carol's radiant light dimmed against the encroaching darkness.
From the amassed blackness on the shoreline, a pair of eerie, slitted eyes snapped open. A grotesque maw emerged, and a familiar figure slowly stepped out.
"Gwen!"
Carter's startled cry cut through the tension as Xia Luo's sense of foreboding intensified.
Hearing her name, Gwen didn't respond or even pause.
Her expression was icy, exuding an aura of hostility that warned others to stay away.
"Kill her... kill her... she must disappear forever," Gwen murmured. Her voice, low and hoarse, carried the twisted echoes of an inner demon, spreading her growing murderous intent.
In her hands, a symbiote-infused meteorite gleamed with an ominous glow. The symbiote itself was no longer visible.
No—it hadn't disappeared.
Whoosh~
The black "ocean" behind Gwen surged upward, crawling over her body. A demonic visage snarled beside her before sinking back into her form.
The symbiote enveloped Gwen's body, transforming into a sleek black Spider suit. The triangular white eyes on her mask gradually filled with a chilling crimson hue.
In her hands, the meteorite shifted and writhed under mysterious power, morphing into a menacing black longsword.
"What... is that?"
Xia Luo's eyes widened, a realization dawning on him.
His expression darkened.
What he had thought to be a weakened symbiote, stripped of its parasitic traits, was something far worse. He had given it to Gwen, hoping it might amplify her abilities.
If he had known its true nature, he would never have let her near it.
This was no minor mistake—it was a disaster.
Xia Luo cautiously approached Gwen, but the black sword in her hands instinctively turned toward him, radiating a lethal threat.
The Invincible Spider-Man hesitated, unwilling to take another step.
Carol, however, showed no such hesitation.
Despite the eerie aura of the black sword, she dismissed it.
She was Captain Marvel. No one could defeat her.
Casually pulling out her flask, Carol drained the alien liquor in a single gulp.
"So, you're here to challenge me for the title of 'Invincible,' huh?"
Her vision blurred slightly as she wiped her mouth, tossing the flask aside.
"Well, come on then!"
With that, she dove headfirst toward Gwen, her body a streak of brilliant light against the night.
Gwen, now the embodiment of primal darkness, raised the black longsword in slow, deliberate movements.
Though her actions were unhurried, Carol inexplicably "offered" her chest to the sword's point.
"What—?"
A shiver of fear ran through Carol, sobering her instantly.
Buzz~
Light clashed against darkness as Gwen maintained her rigid posture, sword in hand.
Behind her, Carol plummeted to the shoreline, her uniform sliced open at the shoulder. Brilliant cosmic energy spilled uncontrollably from the wound, illuminating the pitch-black waters.
"No!"
The numbing pain sent a chill through Carol as she tried to cover the wound. But the black liquid seeping into her cells wreaked havoc, relentlessly destroying her body.
How is this possible?! My body...
For the first time, Carol was paying the price for her arrogance.
Though she had narrowly avoided a fatal blow, her vaunted indestructible body had been injured—and it couldn't heal.
The unchecked cosmic energy drained her strength, dimming the light she once radiated.
As Carol faltered, Gwen turned her gaze to the others and began walking toward her fallen adversary.
"No! Don't come any closer! I admit it! You're the real Invincible Spider-Man! I'll even buy you a drink!!"
For the first time in years, fear and desperation were etched on Carol's face.
Her paralysis spread, leaving her helpless as Gwen raised the black sword high.
"No!"
Shlunk!!
The blade pierced through Carol's body, pinning her to the ground.
Gwen remained expressionless, staring silently as Carol's wide eyes reflected the sight of her own essence being drained. The sword fed greedily, consuming Carol's life force until there was nothing left.
Witnessing Gwen effortlessly slay Captain Marvel left Carter and the others in stunned disbelief.
But it was clear something was deeply wrong with Gwen.
"It's that sword!" Harry exclaimed.
Carter instinctively stepped back. "What is that thing?"
Buzz~
Xia Luo teleported to their side, speaking quickly.
"Get out of here! That's the All-Black, the Necrosword."
"The... Necrosword?"
"Yes, a god-slaying weapon forged by the symbiote god. It's powerful enough to kill Celestials."
Xia Luo prepared to move everyone to safety, but before he could act, Carter lunged at him.
"Don't!!"
Shlunk!
The newly upgraded nano vibranium suit was effortlessly pierced. Xia Luo felt his strength drain instantly.
Looking down, he saw the black blade had impaled both him and Carter.
This was a power even gods couldn't resist.
As the first rays of dawn broke over the horizon, two figures knelt on the shattered island, completely drained.
Carter, pale and bleeding, managed a weak smile.
"Dying with you... is so... humiliating."
She rolled her eyes and slumped forward.
Xia Luo: "..."
As his vision darkened, Xia Luo leaned forward, his head resting against Carter's shoulder. Blood gushed from his mouth, feeding the sword's insatiable hunger.
"Wait..."
Before he could finish, Gwen pulled the sword free.
Shhllkk!
That hurts!
At least let me recover first before you yank it out!!
Xia Luo's eyes rolled back as he collapsed onto Carter's chest.
In the fading edges of his vision, he caught a glimpse of Gwen walking past.
Her expression was cold, but her trembling hands betrayed her inner turmoil.
Tears streamed down her face, yet the god-slaying weapon would not rest until its slaughter was complete.
It wasn't enough.
Darkness engulfed Xia Luo's senses, his ears faintly catching the anguished screams of Harry and the others.
The Web of Life and Destiny was fulfilling its grim purpose.
The Spider-Man who dared to defy fate was, in the end, powerless to protect those he loved.
Every tragedy seemed meticulously orchestrated by an unseen hand.
The Necrosword showed no mercy, claiming the lives of every Avenger present.

---
"Phew..."
Who knew how long had passed? Gwen, finally regaining control of her body, knelt amidst the carnage.
Staring at the horrific scene before her, she broke down.
"It was me... I did this!!"
Her cries echoed across the shattered island, long and mournful.
The Necrosword had ended it all.
Spider-Man's endless cycle of tragedy continued without end.
Not long after, Felicia arrived with reinforcements.
The scene before her didn't faze her.
"As expected, someone had to be left to clean up the mess."
She shook her head and began organizing the aftermath.
But soon, she noticed something amiss.
Xia Luo's body was missing.
"What?"
Frowning, Felicia quickly pieced it together.
---
Meanwhile, in a hidden underground base beneath a pyramid...
"HAHAHA! That damn bug finally fell into my hands!!"
In an opulent palace, Apocalypse laughed maniacally.
Finally, he had the last laugh.
Spider-Man's body was intact, presenting the perfect opportunity to claim it for himself.
Nearby, Erik Lehnsherr watched with a furrowed brow.
It seemed Spider-Man had no chance left.
Beside him, a wild-looking man with a beard took a deep breath, his expression conflicted.
In Gwen, he saw a reflection of his former self.
They had both done the same thing.
But unlike her, Gwen could find release.
He, however, could not.
He could never die.
Eternal immortality—his cruelest curse.
The only way to redemption—
