Chapter 18: Get Trolled Buddy

The Incident

The moon, round like a gyatt, was faintly visible among the clouds, giving off major skibidi vibes.

The academy elder hurried down the road, his face barely lit by the flickering moonlight. Bro was on a mission, no cap.

Gu Masters going missing wasn't rare, but Jia Jin Sheng? Nah, bro couldn't just dip like that. His dad was the Jia family head, and his brother, Jia Fu, was a Rank four Gu Master with that sigma rizz. If Jia Jin Sheng died in Gu Yue Village, it'd be a whole L for everyone.

The Jia family was built different—Rank five dad, massive resources, and a whole mountain to flex. Gu Yue Village? Mid-tier at best. If Jia Jin Sheng was gone, the Jia family would come down hard, and Gu Yue's rep would be cooked. No merchants, no trades, just straight-up downfall. Bro, that's a disaster.

"This is bad, like, really bad," the academy elder muttered, rushing to the clan leader's pavilion. He was sweating like he just lost a 1v1 in Fortnite.

Inside the pavilion, the vibe was tense. Clan leader Gu Yue Bo sat at the head, looking stressed. Jia Fu stood in the middle, surrounded by his squad, giving off major Karen energy. The elders stood awkwardly, not daring to sit because Jia Fu wasn't sitting. Rank four Gu Masters had that aura, fr.

"Where's Fang Yuan?" Gu Yue Bo asked, rubbing his temples. "At this hour, he's probably cultivating in the hostel," the academy elder replied.

Jia Fu cut in, his voice sharp. "I think Fang Yuan's involved in my brother's disappearance. Bring him here. Now." Bro was NOT playing.

The academy elder dipped to fetch Fang Yuan, his mind racing. Fang Yuan? That C-grade brat? What's the connection?

Back in the hall, Jia Fu was still standing, his energy screaming, "I'm not leaving until I get answers." Gu Yue Bo sighed. "Brother Jia, sit. Fang Yuan's on his way."

Jia Fu shook his head. "I can't sit. My brother's missing, and I need answers." Bro was stressing hard.

When Fang Yuan walked in, he was calm, like he just finished meditating. "Gu Yue Fang Yuan pays his respects," he said, his voice steady.

Jia Fu glared at him. "Is this him?" he asked a female Gu Master from the gambling den. She nodded. "Yeah, that's him. He bought six purple gold rocks and pulled a mudskin toad. Young master Jia tried to buy it for 500 primeval stones. I'd recognize him anywhere."

Fang Yuan raised an eyebrow. "Who's Jia Jin Sheng?" he asked, playing dumb.

"He's lying!" the female Gu Master shrieked. "It's him! I'd never forget that face!"

Gu Yue Bo leaned forward. "Fang Yuan, do you know Jia Jin Sheng?"

Fang Yuan hesitated, then nodded. "Oh, him? Yeah, I met him at the gambling den. But after that, I never saw him again."

"Liar!" A male Gu Master from the wine shop stepped forward. "I saw you with Jia Jin Sheng at my shop. You two were talking for hours!"

Fang Yuan's calm facade cracked for a second. "The wine shop was packed. How can you be sure it was me?"

The male Gu Master smirked. "You ordered monkey wine, drank a sip, then fed the rest to a Liquor worm. I wanted to buy it, but you refused and left. I'd never forget that."

The room went silent. The academy elder's eyes widened. "Fang Yuan, where did you get that Liquor worm?"

Fang Yuan clenched his fists. "I found it. It's mine."

The elders erupted. "Fang Yuan, do you know what you've done?" "Talk! What happened to Jia Jin Sheng?" "Is that Liquor worm even yours?"

Fang Yuan snapped. "ITS MINE! I OPENED IT MYSELF! WHAT PART OF THAT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND!" His voice was loud, but his face was pale. Bro was cooked.

Trolling Jia Fu

"YOU opened it?!" Gu Yue Bo's eyebrows shot up like he just saw someone hit the griddy in the middle of a funeral.

Fang Yuan, with the confidence of a sigma male, nodded. "YEAH, I DID. At this point, I'm not hiding it anymore!" He spoke like he was dropping bars in a rap battle. "I bought six purple gold rocks at the gambling den, but I only opened five on the spot because I was low on primeval essence. The last one? I took it back to the hostel, popped it open, and BAM—Liquor worm. I was so gyatt-damn happy I refined it on the spot. You feel me?"

The clan elders blinked like they just witnessed someone mew in public. "Wait, you're telling us you bought six rocks, got a mudskin toad AND a Liquor worm?!" one elder asked, his voice cracking like a Gen Alpha TikToker. "That's some insane rizz, bro."

Fang Yuan shrugged like it was no big deal. "Yeah, so what? SHE can vouch for me." He pointed at the female Gu Master, who looked like she just got caught in 4K.

Under the pressure of everyone's stares, the female Gu Master caved. "It's true. He bought six rocks and got the mudskin toad on the fifth. He took the sixth one away, but I don't know what was inside."

The elders started muttering like a group of Discord mods. "Bro, two Gu worms in six rocks? That's some next-level luck." "Back in my day, I gambled rocks too, but I never pulled anything like that." "Wait, how did he refine the Liquor worm so easily? That's sus."

Fang Yuan rolled his eyes. "Gu worms from fossils are weak, basically on life support. Refining them is easy. What's so hard to understand?" He was giving off major "I'm built different" energy.

He continued, "After refining the Liquor worm, I went to the wine shop the next day. I bought some monkey wine, and later that night, I saw Jia Jin Sheng scamming someone with a smelly fart fat worm disguised as a Black Boar Gu. Then Sir Jia Fu showed up and handled it."

Fang Yuan paused for dramatic effect. "I went back to the wine shop and saw Jia Jin Sheng drinking alone, looking mad depressed. I was feeling myself because of the Liquor worm, so I asked him how much it was worth. Bro got mad and tried to lowball me. I said no, and he started flexing about how the Gu Yue clan was 'no big deal' and told me to watch my back. Then he dipped. Never saw him again."

Jia Fu's face darkened like he just got ratioed on Twitter. "So you're saying my brother chased after you and threatened you?"

Fang Yuan nodded. "Yeah, he did. But I didn't see him after that. Maybe he got lost chasing clout."

Jia Fu's aura intensified like he was about to drop the hardest diss track of the century. "SPEAK! DID YOU KILL MY BROTHER?!" he roared, trying to pressure Fang Yuan.

Fang Yuan didn't flinch. "Nah, bro. I didn't see him after that. Skill issue on his part, I guess."

The room fell silent. Gu Yue Bo cleared his throat. "Brother Jia, without evidence, this is just hearsay. If this gets out, it'll make the Gu Yue clan look bad. You feel me?"

Jia Fu sighed like he just lost a game of Fortnite. "I get it. But all the clues lead to a dead end. The rain washed away any blood traces, and the Underworld Path Butterfly didn't pick up anything. The murderer killed all of Jia Jin Sheng's Gu worms, so the scent's gone."

Gu Yue Bo raised an eyebrow. "That's sus. If the murderer didn't take the Gu worms or primeval stones, what was the motive? Love? Revenge? Clout?"

Fang Yuan, sensing an opportunity, dropped a bombshell. "Maybe YOU killed him. I heard your family's splitting assets. One less brother means more inheritance for you, right?"

The elders gasped like they just saw someone edge in public. "SHUT UP!" "Don't slander Sir Jia Fu!" they yelled, but the seed of doubt had been planted.

One elder muttered, "The Jia family's internal dispute…" and suddenly, everyone's eyes lit up like they just unlocked a new lore drop.

Fang Yuan smirked internally. "Finally, they're catching on."

The elders started connecting the dots. Jia Fu's brother, Jia Gui, was his biggest rival. If Jia Jin Sheng was out of the picture, Jia Fu would take the blame, and Jia Gui would come out on top. It all made sense now.

Jia Fu's face turned darker than a moonless night. He realized the truth—this wasn't about Fang Yuan. This was about Jia Gui.

The academy elder, standing behind Fang Yuan, nodded like he just solved a Rubik's cube. "Fang Yuan's just a kid. No way he could've pulled this off. The real culprit is someone with experience and motive—Jia Gui."

Fang Yuan kept his face neutral, but inside, he was celebrating like he just won a 1v5. "First step complete. Now, let's see how this plays out."

Jia Fu glared at Fang Yuan, his eyes filled with unfriendliness. But Fang Yuan didn't care. He was three steps ahead.

Spring Autumn Rizz Carries

Jia Fu's brain was doing backflips. He'd cleared Fang Yuan of suspicion in his mind, but now he was stuck. "Even if I know Jia Gui's behind this, what can I do? I've got no proof. If I accuse him, Dad's gonna think I'm just hating." Bro was in a full-blown crisis.

He glanced at Fang Yuan, a lightbulb going off in his head. "If I can't pin this on Jia Gui, I'll just use Fang Yuan as the scapegoat. It'll buy me time to clap back at Jia Gui later." Sigma move, but also kinda sus.

Jia Fu turned to Fang Yuan, his voice sharp. "Fang Yuan, how do you prove you didn't kill Jia Jin Sheng?"

The clan elders were like, "Bro, what? This is YOUR family drama. Why you dragging our boy into it?" But Gu Yue Bo's face was stone-cold, his eyes locked on Jia Fu like he was about to drop the hardest diss track of the century.

Fang Yuan, meanwhile, was playing it cool. "Witness? Yeah, I got one. But I'm not gonna say who." He acted all hesitant, like he was holding back the biggest plot twist.

Jia Fu wasn't having it. "SPEAK! Do you have a witness or not?!"

Fang Yuan gritted his teeth, putting on a show. "No."

Jia Fu smirked like he just won the lottery. "Then you're—"

"HOLD UP!" The academy elder stepped in, cutting Jia Fu off like a true sigma. "He DOES have a witness. ME."

Jia Fu's jaw dropped. "YOU?"

The academy elder stood tall, even though Jia Fu's Rank four aura was hitting him like a freight train. "Yeah, me. I've been keeping tabs on Fang Yuan. He's been busy breaking through to the middle stage. No time for murder. Check the records if you don't believe me."

Fang Yuan, hiding behind the academy elder, smirked like he just pulled off the heist of the century. "Checkmate."

Jia Fu's face went through all five stages of grief in two seconds. He realized he'd messed up. "If I push Fang Yuan as the scapegoat, the Gu Yue clan's rep is cooked. No more caravans, no more trades. Big L for everyone." Bro was sweating bullets.

But Jia Fu wasn't done. He pulled out his trump card—the Footprint Gu. "Fine. Let's use this. It'll show his last 30,000 steps. If he's guilty, we'll know."

The academy elder rolled his eyes but let it happen. Fang Yuan walked up, head down, looking like he had nothing to hide. Inside, he was laughing. "I've been chilling in the village this whole time. Good luck finding anything."

The Footprint Gu exploded into a cloud of yellow-green powder, tracing Fang Yuan's steps. It went from the pavilion to the hostel, the academy, and the inn. Nothing suspicious. Fang Yuan was clean.

Jia Fu sighed, pulling out a jade box. Inside was the Bamboo Gentleman, a Rank four Gu that could detect lies. "This Gu feeds on honesty. If you lie, it'll change color. Fang Yuan, you're up."

Fang Yuan took the Bamboo Gentleman into his aperture, feeling its green glow. But he wasn't worried. He had the Spring Autumn Rizz on his side. The moment the Bamboo Gentleman tried to do its job, the Rizzler's aura shut it down. The poor Gu was trembling like it just saw a jumpscare.

Jia Fu started the interrogation. "Did you kill Jia Jin Sheng?"

"No."

"Do you know anything about his disappearance?"

"Nope."

"Have you lied to us today?"

"Not a single word."

Fang Yuan took the Bamboo Gentleman out. Still green. No lies detected.

The clan elders breathed a sigh of relief. Jia Fu, defeated, cupped his fists. "My apologies, Brother Gu Yue. I'll take my leave now."

Gu Yue Bo waved him off. "No harm done. But what a waste of a Bamboo Gentleman."

Jia Fu shrugged. "It's whatever. I'll get Tie Xue Leng to investigate when I get back. This isn't over."

As Jia Fu left, Gu Yue Bo turned to the academy elder. "Stay back. We need to talk."

Fang Yuan walked out of the pavilion, unscathed. Sigma energy intact. Mission accomplished.
