Chapter 1: Enter the Saiyan

I was awoken by a loud crashing sound.

The pod door hissed open, allowing me to step out and take in my surroundings. A deep frown settled on my face as I scanned the area—no sign of the others. I tapped the communication device on my temple, attempting to reach them.

"Kale? Tarron? …"

Silence.

I exhaled through my nose, crossing my arms as I considered my situation.

'No response likely meant we'd ended up in different systems.'

Suddenly, my head snapped to the side as I sensed a surge of energy—a battle.

A smirk tugged at my lips. 'Finally, something interesting.'

Gathering my ki, I lifted off the ground and soared toward the energy signatures, taking a moment to admire the planet's greenery below.

'At least this place looks decent.'

As I neared the city, the sounds of explosions and gunfire filled the air. My eyes narrowed as I spotted the source of the chaos.

'Khunds.'

I scoffed. 'What are those pests doing here?'

I scanned the battlefield, watching the alien warriors rampage through the streets. Just then, something massive caught my eye—a green beast stomping a squad of Khunds into the pavement.

'Hah! Now that's a sight to see. If I could record this, I'd make a killing on the Universal Hub. But enough watching.'

I spotted a man trapped beneath a fallen pillar, groaning in pain. Frowning at his weakness, I descended and easily lifted the rubble off him.

"Hey, you. Which system is this planet in?"

The man looked at me, eyes wide with panic. "Tkt vy mu!" he stammered before scrambling away.

I blinked. '…What?'

I scowled as I watched him run.

'So they don't even speak the universal language? What kind of backwater planet was this?'

Before I could ponder further, a nearby Khund caught my attention, tearing through the streets and firing indiscriminately. I launched myself toward him, grabbing him by the throat and lifting him off the ground.

"Hey, Khund. What's your kind doing on this rock?"

The alien thrashed in my grip, his hands gripping my arm desperately trying to break free. Then, his eyes locked onto my waist—specifically, my tail.

"A-A Saiyan?! You fucking bast—"

I didn't let him finish. My palm glowed with ki, and I blasted his face clean off before letting his lifeless body slump to the ground.

'Tch. Waste of breath.'

Before I could move on, a green streak in the sky caught my eye. A golden-skinned figure with glowing green eyes and fiery red hair rained blasts of energy down on the Khunds.

'A Tamaranean?'

I propelled myself toward her, just as a Khund soldier tried to sneak behind her, blade raised. The female was about to react, but I beat her to it—elbowing the alien in the throat with enough force to snap his neck.

She whirled around, eyes widening as she noticed my tail.

"A Saiyan?! What's your kind doing here? Are you here to invade Earth?!" she shouted, energy building up in her palms.

I smirked, raising an eyebrow. "No. I'm here alone. It seems I'm lost—"

Before I could finish, a bolt of plasma shot toward me. Annoyed, I simply raised my arm, letting the blast dissipate against my skin. Clicking my tongue, I turned back to Tamaranean.

"Say, it seems you're defending this planet right? How about I help you get rid of the Khunds, and you answer some of my questions in return?"

She hesitated for a second, her glowing eyes studying me carefully. Then, she nodded.

"Very well. Your assistance is appreciated."

I nodded back before cracking my neck.

"This should be a good warm-up after sitting in that cramped-ass pod for so long."

———

I launched myself toward a squad of Khunds firing at civilians. The moment my feet touched the pavement, I blurred behind one of them, and—BOOM!—sent him flying into a nearby building with a single punch to the gut.

I barely heard Starfire's voice over the battle. "Please, do try to keep the damage to a minimum!"

I scoffed. "Tch. Fine!"

Two Khunds charged at me while a third hung back, firing at me from a distance. I dodged the bullets effortlessly, closing the gap between me and the closest warrior. With a smirk, I grabbed both by the face and slammed them together before launching a ki blast that engulfed them in a bright explosion.

The last one tried to run. 'Bad choice.'

I blurred behind him and drove my arm straight through his chest. His body tensed before going limp.

I pulled my arm free, shaking off the blood, when another squad of Khunds surrounded me, weapons raised.

"Surround him! Aim for the monkey's tail!" one barked.

'Heh. They think they're clever.'

The moment they opened fire, I vanished from their sight, reappearing above them. Before they could react, I hurled a ki blast down at the center of their formation—the explosion sending bodies flying.

One of them survived, barely. Crawling on the ground, he groaned in pain, reaching for his weapon.

I landed beside him, planting my foot on his back. "If you're gonna invade a planet, at least don't be so pathetic about it."

With that, I stomped down—crushing his spine beneath my boot.

I launched myself into the fray once more, my blood pumping with excitement. This was what I lived for. Battle.

A blur of yellow lightning zipped past me, weaving through the enemy ranks and sending Khunds toppling like ragdolls. I caught sight of a warrior raising his rifle toward the speedster's back.

'Tch. Sloppy.'

I extended my hand, firing a concentrated ki blast that punched straight through the Khund's skull before he could pull the trigger. The speedster barely noticed, already moving to his next target.

My attention snapped upward as a golden lasso coiled around the leg of a massive Khund war mech, dragging it off balance. A red-clad warrior woman pulled, her muscles straining as she struggled to keep the towering machine from recovering.

From my position, I spotted a group of Khunds on a rooftop aiming rocket launchers at her.

'Yeah, not happening.'

I shot into the air, cutting off their line of sight. Their eyes widened just before I raised my hand and unleashed a rapid barrage of ki blasts. Explosions consumed them, sending their lifeless bodies tumbling from the roof.

With the distraction gone, the Amazonian warrior yanked the mech off its feet and brought it crashing down with a deafening boom.

I landed beside her, arms crossed. "Not bad."

She glanced at me, her sharp eyes scanning my form. Then, without a word, she leaped into battle once more, striking down another enemy.

I smirked. 'Feisty.'

A dark cloud of energy erupted nearby, swallowing a squad of Khunds whole. Their screams were short-lived, vanishing into the abyss. At the center stood a cloaked figure, her glowing eyes emotionless as the darkness receded.

I raised an eyebrow. 'Now that's interesting.'

Before I could get a better look, I sensed something barreling toward me at high speed.

I whirled around, catching the massive clawed hand mid-swing. My boots scraped against the pavement as I slid back slightly, my arms tensed from the force.

I looked up to see a towering green beast, its fanged mouth twisted into a snarl.

I blinked.

Then I grinned.

"Alright, I like you."

I twisted my grip and hurled the beast over my shoulder, sending it crashing into a group of Khunds. The aliens barely had time to react before several hundred pounds of mutated muscle crushed them into the ground.

A second later, the green beast morphed into a much smaller figure, shaking off the impact. He shot me a look that was equal parts surprise and mild irritation before charging into the fray once more.

———

The battle didn't last much longer. The remaining Khunds were either killed, captured, or forced to retreat.

As I blasted the last of my opponents, I saw the female Tamarenean descending toward me. Before she could speak, a new voice cut in.

"Starfire."

I turned to see a masked human approaching—black and blue uniform, twin batons in his hands. He stopped a few feet away, eyes locked onto me.
