Saiyan in DC

Chapter 3: Monkey in a Cage

I awoke to the dim glow of artificial lighting. Blinking a few times, I realized I was inside a cell. Instead of metal bars, a shimmering forcefield kept me contained. My wrists were bound by thick restraints, with additional ones securing my ankle and neck.

I clicked my tongue in irritation. The sound echoed through the otherwise silent room.

Outside my cell, two figures stood watch—Starfire and Nightwing. They hadn't noticed I was awake, too caught up in their conversation.

"—I'm just saying, we should have approached this differently," Nightwing muttered.

"I agree," Starfire said, her voice softer than I expected. "But given the circumstances, we could not take any risks."

Nightwing sighed, rubbing his temple. "We still don't know if he's a threat or not. The Lantern's not wrong to be cautious, but—"

At that moment, my restrained hand twitched involuntarily. The metal cuffs clanked together, and Nightwing immediately turned, eyes narrowing.

"He's awake," he said.

Starfire looked at me, her expression unreadable. I met her gaze with a glare.

"I'll get the others," Nightwing said, walking toward the exit.

The door hissed as he left, leaving me alone with the Tamaranean.

We stared at each other for a long moment, the silence heavy between us. Finally, I scoffed.

"I didn't know Tamaraneans were so quick to stab people in the back," I said, voice laced with venom.

Starfire's expression shifted slightly. "That was not my intention," she replied. "I wished for peace, but you would not listen."

I scoffed. "The Green Lantern didn't seem too keen on 'peace.'"

She opened her mouth to respond, but before she could, the door hissed open again.

Before she could respond, the door hissed open. Batman—if I remembered correctly—entered the room, followed by the rest of the Titans. Among them was a black-haired woman clad in red and gold. And—

Him.

The damn Green Lantern.

"—"I'm telling you, a Saiyan here is bad news," Lantern said, eyes locked onto me like I was a ticking time bomb. "They're probably the reason those Khunds showed up last time!"

"Ha! As if we'd ever work with those bastards," I shot back. "Watch your mouth, Lantern."

"Enough," Batman interrupted, his voice low yet firm. "You will answer some questions."

I scoffed. "And why would I?"

"You don't have a choice," the woman in red said before tossing a golden rope around me.

I tensed as it wrapped around my torso. The moment it tightened, a strange sensation crept through me.

"And who are you?" I asked, trying to mask my unease.

"We're the ones asking questions," Batman said. His expression was unreadable, but his eyes remained sharp. "Now, state your name."

"Solan. An elite-class Saiyan from Planet Sadala," I answered before I could stop myself.

I blinked in surprise. What the hell?

"What—this rope—?"

"Why are you here?" Batman cut me off.

"Solan, an elite class saiyan from planet Sadala." You answered truthfully, surprising yourself.

"Wha-this rope—"

"Why have you come to Earth." Batman cut him off.

I hesitated for a moment before answering, "I escaped the destruction of my planet."

A heavy silence filled the room.

"The Saiyans' homeworld was destroyed?" Green Lantern repeated, his tone a mix of shock and suspicion. "I wasn't told anything about this. What happened?"

"We were attacked."

"By who?"

"Darkseid."

The moment the word left my mouth, the entire room tensed. The weight of the name was suffocating.

Beast Boy broke the silence. "…Who's Darkseid?"

"…who's Darkseid?" Beast Boy asks.

Cyborg turned to him, his expression grim. "Darkseid is a conqueror. He attacked Earth a few years ago. The only reason the Justice League even formed in the first place was because of him."

"And we sent him back to Apokolips," Wonder Woman added, her voice firm. "But if what you're saying is true, that means he's making his next move."

Green Lantern cursed under his breath. "I need to inform the Guardians. If Darkseid managed to wipe out the Saiyans, that's—" He paused, glancing at me.

I smirked. "What? I thought you'd be happy that we're gone, considering how much you hate us."

The Amazon beside him raised an eyebrow. "You do seem to have quite the grudge."

"Normally, I would," Green Lantern admitted, crossing his arms. "But anyone who can even put a dent in the Saiyan forces is dangerous enough. To completely destroy them? That's something else entirely."

I let out a chuckle, shaking my head. "You lot seem to think that because you bested me, you could handle the Saiyan Empire. I might call myself an elite-class Saiyan, but it's simply an honorary title—granted to me for my potential. A true elite would be at least ten times stronger than I am. This planet wouldn't survive even a quarter of the might of the Saiyans."

"Yeah, well, your so-called mighty empire is gone now," Kid Flash said with a smirk.

I clicked my tongue in annoyance and was about to respond when Batman cut me off.

"Enough, since Darkseid is moving again, we need to prepare. Solan, are there any more of your kind on Earth?"

"No."

"Were you the last remaining Saiyan?"

"…No. I was sent with four others, but we got separated."

"Do you have any ill intentions toward Earth?"

Silence.

"…No," I admitted.

Batman nodded at Wonder Woman, who unwrapped the lasso from around me.

Just then, a portal tore open in the room. I immediately frowned, sensing magic as a woman stepped through.

"You lower yourself to work with a magic user?" I sneered.

The woman scoffed. "I don't want to hear that from someone who's basically a caged monkey."

My eye twitched. "Watch your mouth, witch. Without these restraints, I'd break your spine in half."

"Wow, so you're just a brute, then?"

"Bitch."

"Dumbass."

"Wen—"

"I don't have time for this," the woman—clearly some kind of sorceress—said, rolling her eyes. "Batman, Zatara says he has something to tell you. Says it's an emergency. I'll be waiting outside—can't stand being in the same room as this monkey."

With that, she turned on her heel and disappeared through the portal.

Hot.

"She's hot. What's her name?" I asked without thinking.

Everyone gave me a weird look.

"...Are all Saiyans as strange as you?"

Before I could answer, Batman stepped forward, deactivating the forcefield and unlocking my restraints.

Batman ignored the exchange and walked over to me. Without a word, he deactivated the restraints and the forcefield.

I immediately stood, stretching my limbs as I rolled my shoulders.

"Are you sure about this?" Green Lantern asked, still watching me with distrust. "Saiyans are unpredictable. There's no telling what he'll do now."

Batman handed me a small bag, along with my scouter. "He's proven himself to be more civilized than you give him credit for."

I glanced at the bag, then back at Batman. "…Thanks."

"What do you plan on doing now?"

I hesitated. "…I don't know. My allies are somewhere in the universe, and there's no point in aimlessly wandering."

Nightwing stepped forward. "Then why not join the Titans?"

I raised an eyebrow. "Join you?"

"It'll give you a home and something to do while you figure things out."

The other Titans seemed surprised at his offer, but I considered it. After a few moments, I shrugged.

"…Sure."

Batman turned away. "I trust you can handle the rest."

With that, he walked out, followed by Wonder Woman and Green Lantern.

Before disappearing, Batman gave me one last look.

"Don't do anything stupid."

And then, he was gone.

Sure! Here's a revised version that ensures smooth dialogue flow, natural character interactions, and consistent tone while keeping the essence of your scene intact.

As Batman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern left, the tension in the room noticeably eased.

Wonder Girl stretched her arms over her head. "Well, that was intense," she muttered before turning to Nightwing. "Are you sure about this, Dick?"

"He's staying," Nightwing replied firmly. "We'll keep an eye on him."

Wonder Girl crossed her arms and glanced at me, her expression skeptical. "Alright, but if you try anything, you're getting decked."

I smirked. "I'd like to see you try."

She rolled her eyes but smirked back. "See you around, new guy." With a casual two-finger salute, she turned and walked out.

Kid Flash was next. "Man, I was really hoping you'd start wrecking the place so we could see what you're really made of."

I raised an eyebrow. "You want a fight?"

"I wanna see how fast you are," he corrected with a grin. "But that can wait. Welcome to the team, I guess."

Before I could respond, he vanished in a red blur.

Cyborg chuckled, shaking his head. "That kid never changes. Anyway, welcome to Titan Tower. Just don't wreck the place, and we'll get along just fine."

I gave a nod. "Noted."

Beast Boy, who had been uncharacteristically quiet, finally stepped forward. He squinted at me, looking me up and down like he was trying to figure something out.

"So, you're one of those 'monkey people.' A Saiyan, right?"

I felt my eye twitch.

He hummed, still squinting. "So, like, can you actually turn into a giant ape?"

I narrowed my eyes. "What makes you think that?"

"Just a feeling."

I sighed. "Yeah, I can, but I'd need a moon."

Beast Boy's grin widened. "So a giant space monkey? That's awesome! You gotta show me sometime."

Raven, who had been standing silently the entire time, sighed. "I've had enough social interaction for the day," she muttered before disappearing into a swirling portal of darkness.

Beast Boy took that as his cue to leave as well. "Alright, well, I'm gonna grab some food before heading to bed. Catch you later, space monkey."

That left just me, Nightwing, and Starfire.

Starfire hesitated before stepping forward. Her expression was softer than before, almost apologetic.

"I wish to apologize," she said, her voice gentle. "Our first meeting was not ideal."

I studied her for a moment, then crossed my arms. "No, it wasn't."

She nodded. "But I hope that, in time, we can put it behind us and perhaps become friends."

I raised an eyebrow. "Friends?"

"Yes," she said without hesitation. "I do not believe you to be a bad person, Solan. Perhaps you may even find a home here."

Her words caught me off guard. I wasn't sure how to respond, so I simply nodded.

Starfire smiled once more before floating toward the exit.

"Goodnight," she said before disappearing down the hall.

That left just me and Nightwing.

I turned to him. "So… where's my room?"

Nightwing smirked. "Follow me. I'll show you around while we're at it."

As we walked through the hallways, he pointed out different sections of the Tower.

"This is the rec room. Big screen, games, a place to relax. You'll probably see Beast Boy here a lot," he said as we passed a lounge area.

We continued down another hallway.

"Over here's the infirmary. If you get banged up, this is where you go. And trust me, you will get banged up."

I scoffed. "You think I'm weak?"

"No, but I do think you're reckless," he said with a knowing look. "And reckless people tend to visit the infirmary a lot."

I didn't argue.

We stopped in front of a large set of doors, and Nightwing gestured toward them. "This is the training room. You'll probably be spending a lot of time here."

I glanced inside at the reinforced walls and faint scorch marks on the floor. "Hmph. Looks decent."

Nightwing smirked. "It's built to handle metahuman-level training. Should be able to take whatever you dish out."

I made a mental note to come back here later.

As we continued walking, we passed another important area.

"And this," Nightwing said, gesturing toward another set of doors, "is the kitchen."

I peeked inside and immediately felt a sense of relief. Fully stocked, spacious, and well-equipped—this was all I needed.

"Good," I muttered. "I eat a lot."

Nightwing chuckled. "Yeah, I noticed. Don't worry, we keep it stocked."

Finally, we arrived at a door near the end of the hall.

"And here's your room," Nightwing said, pressing a button on the wall. The door slid open, revealing a modest space with a bed, a desk, and a window overlooking the city.

I stepped inside, taking a quick look around.

"It's not much, but it's yours," Nightwing said. "If you need anything, just ask."

I nodded. "Got it."

Nightwing turned to leave but paused at the doorway.

"One last thing—" he glanced back at me, his expression serious. "You might be staying here, but that doesn't mean trust comes easy. Prove that you belong here."

With that, he walked out, leaving me alone in my new room.

I exhaled, running a hand through my hair.

This wasn't home. Not even close.

But for now, it would do.
