Sands of Fate: a Krokotopia Fanfiction

"Fighting for what's is the first step to to freedom, all you need is the key."

Thorne G. Retriever was outside with his men thankful to be alive, however he felt pretty bad about awaking the usurpers and undoing the work the Order of the Fang did. However he wasn't vested with magic, so he called for a human wizard that lived in Marlyebone from Jasper Light Academy. Her name was Amy Nightcaller, she was a night student. In Jasper Light Academy their schools are different than its counterpart in Wizard City since they have only six, their schools are Flame, Weather, Light, Legend, Night, and Unity.

Amy got to the Spiral Door of Krokotopia with her wand and spell book, and reached steps of the Pyramid of Life. Thorne G. Retriever finally saw her coming up and was thankful.

"Ah, there you are Amy." Said, Thorne. "As you know we were studying the Pyramid of Life when the wizard tuts attacked, I feel that im to blame for undoing the work the order of the fang has done. I know the Order of the fang exist, for my mentor Professor Winthrop told the tales of his journey through krokotopia himself. My men and i decided to enter Verdant Gardens, so we ventured into the Hall of Vines to see if we could find it.

Sadly we came up short in finding the key, however during a bit of rubbing on the obelisk we found something. It stated that the key was placed in the mines to protect from enemies, if thats the case the the key isnt in the Hall of Vines its in the Jade Mines. Amy, please head into the Jade Mines to see if you can find the key...we must correct our mistake, oh and look for anyone who might help us." Amy dashed away quickly.

Amy had to be careful for the mines were guarded but also deep. Amy carried a magic lantern to help her through the shadows, however it wasnt a strong light since she was a night wizard this was a second home for her.

-The Jade Mines-

Inside the Jade Mines was heartbreaking, the kroks beaten to submission toiled day and night without food or water. It was hot inside the mine as well, which made things ever worse for them. Amy was hiding for she saw guards coming to check on the kroks, suddenly she heard a whisper coming from the far corner of the mine. Amy went to the source of the whispering, it was from an ice wizard...It was Tracy Frostdancer, he was one of the order members.

"Ah, so Throne sent you to aid us." Said, Tracy. "Yes im a member of the order of the fang, but you have to earn the orders trust before i tell you more about the other members. I know why he sent you here and its obvious, to find the key to the verdant gardens. Before we start we must free the kroks in this forsaken place, since the usurper Cedric has return to power he has crushed the kroks greatly. However in order to do that we need the keys to free them, and i know a perfect beings where you can get it...the Ankhtef Watchmen, they keep an eye on the kroks and prevent them from fleeing. Defeat them and claim six keys, once your done return to me." Amy was nervous but when she looked at the kroks it was the right thing to do.

The Ankhtef Watchmen were conjurers which were special with myth type magic, however Amy's magic was able to distract them for a good bit. Although she was a bit bruised up, she was able to get six keys from the watch me. Tracy looked up to see Amy covered in soot but with six keys, although he rarely smiles he did when he saw her.

"Good work, Amy." Said, Tracy. "You've done well in your first battle, but you have to do more to impress the order. I have here are bags of food with water for the kroks, so its time to free them from their suffering. Take the keys and unlock all the cages, instruct the kroks to take the food and flee the mines and head to my friend Za'Ne in the oasis. Hurry, the watchmen will regroup soon...we dont have time!" Amy quickly got the bags of food and left.

Amy with speed freed the kroks form the cages, they were cheering as their freedom came. a krok looked at little amy.

"Thank you for freeing us!" Said, the krok. "My name is Amun, you have bags of food and water for us." Amy nodded.

"Tracy Frostdancer instucted to give you all food and water." Replied, Amy. "Please you all should head to the Oasis to his friend Za'Ne, he will keep you safe!" the Kroks knew who tracy was and cheered, they all headed out the mines quickly.

Amy returned to Tracy and told him the news, for the first time there was a large smile on is face...oh he was very much pleaced with Amy's work.

"Well done, Amy!" Said, Tracy. "With the kroks free, we have struck a blow to the usurper Cedric Emberbloom. However were not done yet my friend, there is one matter that we must discuss. We need the key to the Verdant Gardens, and the only person who has it is Akhetra Ankhet the Mine Master and he is very loyal to Cedric. Sadly we wont be able to enter his area without the Jade Seal, and his men the Ankhtef Vine Whip Masters have it...well one of them. Amy defeat the Whip Masters until you find one carrying the seal, once you have it go into his area and crush Akhetra Ankhet and take back the key. Amy, we have no time to lose!" Amy quicky left the area.

Ankhtef Vine Whip Masters were powerful Theurgists that wield life magice, their whips were infused with poison ivy which made their magic sting even more. Amy got strong lashes from the warriors, yet she didnt waver from the task she was on. Although Amy is a night wizard, her school works in the same effect with death magic. After a tough battle, Amy was finally able to find the seal to Akhetra Ankhet lair. once inside, Akhetra Ankhet just laughed.

"So, this is the little pest who has been freeing my kroks." Said, Akhetra. "Once I'm done with you ill make you work the mines!" Amy had her deck set but no setting can prepare you for battles that hit hard.

The battle in Akhetra Ankhet's chamber was brutal as Amy was pushed back, she caught up some dirt as she got up from the ground. Akhetra Ankhet who was overconfident was boasting heavily.

"Come on, is this the best the order of the fang can do?" Asked, Akhetra. "I'll take you to the pharaoh for a reward." but what he didnt realize was that Amy secretly placed two night traps on him, also she had aa night blade just in case.

Amy casted a draining feeder spell and was able to defeat Akhetra Ankhet. Once he was defeated, she found the Key of the Verdant Gardens in his possession, as well as the Jade of Truth. Tracy Frostdancer saw Amy come up with bruises everywhere, however once he saw the Key of the Verdant Gardens he knew she did it...however he was also overjoyed that she found the Jade of Truth that belongs to the true ruler of the pyramid of life, Aten-Ka Purity Caller.

"Well done, Amy!" Said, Tracy. "With the Key of the Verdant Gardens, you can now enter the pyramid of life. Not only that, you found the Jade of Truth that belongs to the true Pharaoh Aten-Ka Purity Caller. This comfirms that he's still alive. Hmm, you did that quiet of bit of damage in here today. Let me give you some of my healing oil. There, those whip wounds shall heal over night. Now, go back to Throne G. Retriver and tell him you have to the key...my fellow member Julia Icestone is within the Pyramid protecting the kroks there, however she might not be nice to you as i was." Amy left the mines quickly although her body was stinging thanks to the whip attacks, she put the Jade of Truth in her pocket for safe keeping.

-Inside the Pyramid of Life, Altar of Florals-

Thorne G. Retriever was looking over his notes he took. He looked up to see Amy Night Caller coming up to him, she had the Key of the Verdant Gardens.

"Amy, great work." Said, Thorne. "Now with the key we can enter the Verdant Gardens, i believe the Seal of the Pharaoh is there. With that we can enter the Palace of Life. However lets not get ahead of ourselves, Amy you can use a good rest, those scars are terrible...I dont wish to know what troubles you wen through to get that key." Amy weakly smiled as she went to rest for the night.

As the night came to Krokotopia, the first battle has been won...but the war has just begun. The battle for Krokotopia has begun as the desert winds blew, what battles will await Amy in the Pyramid of Life...perhaps the sands of time will show us more soon.
