Scarlet Warlock Of Dc

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Change

After our near-death encounter with Mr. Twister, I decided that I must become stronger no matter what.

I have many options. One of them is working on my Chaos magic. Ever since I went unconscious and suddenly appeared in that mysterious realm, I finally understood what my power was. I had my suspicions, but now it was obvious—I had the powers of the Scarlet Witch.

Wanda had many abilities, but her most powerful was her ability to control reality. Though I can't do that yet, I feel my powers growing every second.

What I should focus on now are Wanda's mind-related abilities. Energy manipulation comes easily, but I know almost nothing about the mind.

I also don't know how to fight, and I want to find someone better than Robin to train me. Though he is a good fighter, he is too inexperienced right now.

As for Wanda's other vast array of abilities, I will probably have to ask a magic user like Constantine or Zatanna—and perhaps even her father.

Solomon was thinking about ways to improve his powers, realizing there was so much to do. He decided to focus on his mind-related abilities, as he was already hearing thoughts, and he had M'gann to help him.

Solomon left his room to look for M'gann. It had already been two days since the Mr. Twister incident, and he had fully recovered. He had also been sunbathing more often, trying his best to grow his powers. This bore fruit, as Solomon felt a sharp increase in his defense and strength. He also felt like he was just a few days away from awakening something.

Solomon found M'gann trying to make cookies, but her skills had barely improved.

"Hey, M'gann, can you help me with something?"

"Sure, what is it?"

"Well, lately, I feel like I'm hearing other people's thoughts, and, well, you're the only mind-reader in the base."

M'gann looked at Solomon, a beaming smile appearing on her face. She finally had someone like her, and though he wasn't a Martian, maybe he would understand what it was like to have psychic abilities.

Ever since then, Solomon and M'gann practiced together. He had found a way to block out the thoughts of others and focus on a single person's mind, but he was nowhere near M'gann's level.

He was sloppy, and anyone with enough willpower could probably block him out with ease.

As for his Kryptonian side, something had happened during training. Something that changed everything.

It was the afternoon in a remote field. The team had come to practice and spar to improve their skills.

Everyone had already gotten their turn. Wally and robin fought, and even though Wally was a speedster, it seemed like robin had been prepared to fight a speedster. He used Wally's cocky fighting style to win.

Khaldur and Megan were not a physical match, so Khaldur just fought robin again. It was a hard fought match, but Khaldur with his versatile kit was able to counter many of robins attacks, and take the win.

Megan had no one to fight, so Solomon and Megan were supposed to fight after Solomon fought superboy. They were not worried about him running out of stamina as it was a hot day, and it seemed sunlight had a much greater effect on Solomon than on Superboy.

Solomon had gotten much stronger compared to when they first escaped Cadmus—and so had Superboy. Though they had not awakened their Kryptonian powers, they still grew stronger as long as they had sunlight.

Solomon tensed as he prepared for the match. In their last fight, they were equal in most physical aspects. The only reason he had won was because of his unique technique, and his mind seemed to be much faster than Superboy's.

He heard Superboy's thoughts, already knowing what he was going to do. A straight punch with his dominant hand.

They both dashed forward at immense speed. Solomon caught Superboy off guard, forcing him to hastily put up his arms in a weak defense.

Solomon was much faster than before, and Superboy wasn't ready.

His fist clashed against Superboy's arms, sending a small shockwave rippling through the battlefield. The ground spread apart around superboy's leg as he tried to stop his momentum.

Superboy skidded back, his arms trembling slightly. A small bruise was already forming. It seemed Solomon had grown much stronger too.

Solomon gave him no time to think as he closed the gap again, striking with a barrage of punches. He held back slightly, not wanting to hurt Superboy too much, but the shockwaves and destructive force were still enough to decimate the battlefield.

Everyone watched the fight with interest. Every day Solomon and Superboy got stronger, and so the concussion was never certain. Solomon had a restriction on him, and that was the restricted use of his powers. It would be unfair, and these fights mostly tested his physical capabilities.

"So, Dick, who do you think is gonna win?" Wally asked, munching on popcorn.

The team had already finished their training, and all that was left was for Solomon and Superboy to finish up.

"It looks like Solomon wins this round," Dick said as he analyzed the fight.

"Though he still needs help with technique."

Dick had received Batman's training, and he could see all the holes in Superboy's defense. He could also see the poor form Solomon used to punch.

"This fight would have ended much quicker if Solomon had proper training," Dick said, stealing some popcorn from Wally's bag.

"Is Superboy going to be okay?" M'gann asked. The bruises on his arms were very visible.

"It seems the fight will be over very soon," Kaldur said.

Superboy's defense didn't last long. Solomon saw an opening and took it immediately, landing a heavy kick to Superboy's chest.

Superboy was sent flying, too weak to do anything. His arms felt like mush. This was supposed to be a sparring match, not a death battle.

"Are you okay, Superboy?"

I started to walk toward him, but halfway there, I suddenly felt a pain unlike anything I had ever experienced.

All my senses felt like they had multiplied over a hundredfold. I could hear a deer's heartbeat from miles away. Unknown smells bombarded my nose. I fell to my knees, looking back at my friends—only to see their nerves, muscles, and even bones.

I could see their hearts beating, pumping blood through their bodies.

Everything started to slow down. Even Wally seemed to be moving at normal person's speed as he tried to reach me. It seemed even a little slow for a normal human.

His brain started to process information much faster than before, as long forgotten memories emerged. Things like old fanfiction he read, or all the edits he watched on his phone.

Then I realized—I was awakening my Kryptonian powers.

Even though my body wasn't growing larger, I was getting exponentially stronger. My body was evolving so rapidly that I could barely keep up. An unknown force seemed to form a thin layer on my skin. I felt the security it gave me as it fully covered my body.

This was becoming too much for me to handle, I needed to calm down.

I immediately sat down and tried to use what M'gann had taught me—training to look within myself.

It didn't take long before my senses started to return to slightly normal levels. Though they were still enhanced, I learned to tune everything out.

Wally was the first to reach me, placing his hands on my shoulders. M'gann and Superboy weren't far behind.

When everything seemed like it was going back to normal, I was about to explain what had happened, then an explosion of energy blasted everyone away.

I felt my Chaos energy surge, growing larger than ever before.

It was like I was a vase, constantly expanding and hardening. But now, the vase had grown multiple times larger, and the small stream of power inside had turned into a flood.

I was losing control.

My repressed emotions were stirred up by the Chaos energy, overwhelming me.

I couldn't think—all the darkest moments of my life flooded my mind. I had to relive everything, and no matter how I tried, I could not keep out the thoughts that kept appearing in my brain.

That was because this was not from an outside source, but something from within. There was nothing to fight, nothing to clash wills with. All he could do was face his darkest emotions. Ethier he embraces them, or they overwhelm him.

Wally, Dick, and Kaldur were sent flying, crashing into a rock and passing out. Blood trickled down their heads. They had hit their heads hard, and it seemed like they were not getting up anytime soon.

M'gann and Superboy were barely holding on, struggling to reach me.

"What's happening?" Superboy asked, his fingers digging into the ground for stability.

"I don't know," M'gann said. "I'll try to get into his head and see what's going on."

Superboy nodded.

M'gann closed her eyes and entered my mind—only to see a beautiful woman with flowing hair, filled with stars.

She seemed infinite.

M'gann instinctively felt that she was not meant to be looked upon.

Her mind started to fracture.

Unlike me, she didn't see dark thoughts.

No—she saw something like a god. Something that was never meant to be perceived.

And she was going insane because of it.

She immediately retreated, passing out from the overwhelming experience. Superboy jumped and caught her before she hit the ground.

A few seconds later, the Scarlet energy vanished, and I collapsed.

Superboy stood alone in the open field, unsure of what to do next.

Ever since that moment, the team looked at me differently. I could see the fear of me in their eyes. What could happen the next time I lose control?

I already knew robin had told batman, and batman was probably creating a contingency plan for me. Ever since that event I remembered everything with a surprising clarity.

I had never watched Young Justice, but I knew a lot about Dc. Many villains who deserved to have died were instead spared, and escaped prison the next day.

Batman and the justice league fight so hard to make sure these people don't die, only for them to kill thousands of more people.

I remembered how far joker had turned superman in one of the infinite Dc universes.

Everyone in the team looked at him in a completely different way, except superboy. M'gann on the other hand was different. I don't know what happened, but she couldn't even look me in the eye.

I could see the immense amount of fear in her eyes.

He wanted us to be recon to some island that produced Venom. He knew very little about it, only that bane used it. Batman seemed to want us to recon before the Justice league came and dealt with it.

It felt like he was throwing us a bone. It had been over a week since our last mission, and I just didn't feel like I was making a difference.

I don't need Batman to train me, and ever since that event, my abilities had gotten much stronger.

It seems like this will be my last mission Solomon though as he looked at the back of his brother. He knew it would hit him the hardest.

Thank you for reading this chapter and I hoped you enjoyed it.

Solomon is finally leaving the team, and the story can now begin.

I am planning on making superboy stronger that in young justice.
