Chapter 142: Purgatory(2)
"This guy should have been killed through a sneak attack."
"This wound didn't seem to be caused by the formation, but by a living creature, most likely a human."
"Moreover, whoever killed him is fairly strong and they are at least a Great Warrior or Magician."
Through the corpse in front of her, Chu Wuyao was able to analyze many things and her findings didn't surprise her at all.
She had already guessed that the people of the Holy Church would inevitably face dangers and the dangers didn't only come from the formation, but also from the cultists of the Demon Cult.
Now, this corpse only served to confirm her guess.
While Chu Wuyao was deep in thought, a sudden change occurred in the corpse that lay in front of her.
The fingers of the obviously dead middle-aged man started moving and his body made a strange, cracking sound.
His eyelids trembled and the next moment, he opened his eyes.
In his pupils, a strange complicated red rune appeared for a split second, before disappearing.
The man faced Chu Wuyao who was standing carelessly in front of him and he suddenly moved.
His movements were very fast and in the blink of an eye, he had jumped up and then pounced on her.
He clenched both of his fists and punched forward, targeting her head, as if he wanted to smash it.
Chu Wuyao seemed to be stunned and didn't react, allowing the man to get close to her.
However, just when his fists were about to land on her, a huge amount of blood came from the side and after neutralizing his attacks, it fell on him, engulfing him whole.
The man tried to struggle inside the prison that was made out of blood, but his efforts proved to be completely meaningless.
A few seconds later, the blood moved again and returned to the Blood Flag, while a mummified corpse fell on the ground.
With the return of the blood, the Blood Flag seemed to have received a supplement and its strength increased, albeit very slightly.
Above the flag, Li Ruoshi's transparent figure became a little more solid and she had obviously taken a step forward in her journey to become a Divine Weapon.
"Does this river have the ability to control corpses?", Chu Wuyao muttered.
Although her guess seemed to be a little outlandish, she had a hunch that it was true.
Of course, now that she was here, she would try to confirm it.
Her hand moved and made a grabbing motion in the air, seemingly grabbing nothing.
However, when her fingers closed, a small creature that looked like a bird appeared inside her palm.
This little bird was one of the Devil Summons she had previously deployed to collect information about this place.
But now, it had become a test subject.
Without any hesitation, Chu Wuyao threw the little devil into the river and let the transparent liquid wash its body, and then waited to see what would happen.

Meanwhile, while Chu Wuyao was busy conducting experiments, in another place inside the formation of the Demon Cult, a black palace stood in a piece of red land.
The palace was huge, while it had enough space for thousands of people to live in.
Inside a room of this black palace, two people stood silently, one of these people sitting in a chair and the other one standing in front of them.
These two people were a man and a woman respectively and if anyone was familiar with the inner disciples of the Original Desire Sect, they would recognize that the two of them were Mu Huanzhi and senior sister Luo, two famous quasi-core disciples.
According to the information Chu Wuyao had previously collected, these two people hated each other and had always been in conflict, yet now, they stood alone in this room and the atmosphere seemed to be quite harmonious.
As he faced senior sister Luo, Mu Huanzhi's calm face showed a slight smile and he spoke up, breaking the silence:
"According to the agreement I made with the Demon Cult, we should work hard to defend this palace and make sure that nobody destroys the core of the formation."
"Let the people below work hard. Otherwise, if the core is destroyed, the Demon Pope will surely blame us."
In response to his words, senior sister Luo nodded her head, but then she opened her mouth to ask something that had always been in her mind:
"Senior brother Mu, doesn't the Demon Pope trust us too much? How can he be confident enough to let us guard this place?"
Hearing her words, Mu Huanzhi shook his head.
"Our interests are aligned with the interests of the Demon Cult and we have a common enemy."
"The Demon Pope is smart enough to know that it's almost impossible for us to betray him." Enjoy new chapters from My Virtual Library Empire
After he said this, he paused for a few seconds and then continued:
"Moreover, do you think he really trusts us? Didn't he still let a few Holy Realm practitioners behind?"
"Apart from guarding this place, these people are also sent to monitor us."
Senior sister Luo immediately felt that what Mu Huanzhi said made sense, but he seemed to be hiding something from her.
She wanted to ask, but before she could do so, Mu Huanzhi waved his hand casually and stopped her.
"Don't worry. I've already planned everything."
"Instead of asking more questions, you should go and make sure that no one reaches this place."
Seeing his attitude, although senior sister Luo wanted to ask more questions, she could only swallow her words and salute respectfully, and then leave the room, ready to follow Mu Huanzhi's orders.
As she stepped outside, a small, complicated red rune flashed in her eyes for half a second, but she never noticed it.
With her leaving, Mu Huanzhi was left alone in the room, but his always calm expression was a little weird at this time.
"Why do I feel that my Brands in this world have suddenly increased by one?", he muttered and his eyes were filled with doubt.
