Chapter 67: Night Full Of Love
The stars above twinkled furiously, watching over the two as they lay together in bed.
Cassie rested slightly lower than Sunny, their bodies close but not yet interwined with eachother.
She reached out, her fingers barely grazing Sunny's cheek before she found his face.
"Sunny…" she murmured softly.
Sunny hummed, eyes locked onto her. "What is it?"
There was a pause before she spoke again. "The Second Nightmare… we're gonna have to challenge it soon. "
His expression didn't change, but his hand instinctively found hers, as if to console her of her worries. "I know."
Cassie exhaled, her grip tightening around his. "Are you scared?"
Sunny's lips twitched into something resembling a smirk, but it softened almost immediately.
"Not as long as I have you."
Cassie's breath hitched, her cheeks blooming with warmth.
She hesitated for only a second before she leaned in, finding his lips with her own.
It was soft at first, but Sunny responded more fiercly. His lips pressed against hers more deeply, tilting his head to kiss her properly.
His hand left hers, instead sliding down to her waist, pulling her closer as his lips moved from her mouth to her neck, teasing her with kisses.
His breath was warm against her skin, and she let out a small sound of protest, squirming slightly in his grip.
"Mmm… Meanie," she pouted, her voice breathy.
Sunny chuckled quietly.
Cassie, flustered and unsure how to handle his teasing, did the only thing she could think of - she burrowed her face into his stomach, nuzzling against him like a cat seeking warmth.
His laughter rumbled through his chest, his hand resting atop her head. "We need to sleep," he murmured, before adding on a mistake.
"Before I do something bad to you."
Cassie peeked up at him, though blind, her lips curving into a small smile. "Do what?"
Sunny froze. His flaw struck at the worst possible moment.
He clenched his jaw, trying to resist, but the pain was growing far too quick.
"You."
Cassie's eyes widened before a deep blush spread across her face.
Her smile didn't fade, though. Instead, it grew, turning mischievous, remind him of Effie's.
"Why not?"
Sunny blinked. His mind malfunctioned for a moment, processing her words, wondering if he had misheard.
"…Are you sure?"
Cassie, still flustered but determined, nodded. "Why not?"
Something inside Sunny snapped.
He moved before he even thought about it, rolling her onto her back, his body straddling hers as he loomed above her.
Their eyes met, both blue and black reflected eachothers.
Sunny leaned down, capturing her lips again, this time with no hesitation. His fingers traced along her jaw before trailing downward, caressing her body as he felt every curve.
"I love you," he murmured between kisses, his lips brushing against her cheek, her throat.
Cassie reached up, pulling him down by the neck, her fingers threading through his hair. She kissed him with everything she had, every ounce of feeling she had never been able to put into words. He responded in the same way.
He pulled back just enough to meet her gaze, searching for any hesitation, any second thoughts.
All he found was love. And a lot of love.
That was all he needed.
Slowly, he removed his shirt, the fabric slipping from his shoulders.
Cassie heard the rustle and predicted his movements. She reached out instinctively, her fingers mapping out the planes of his chest.
"Beautiful." she whispered, more to herself than to him.
Sunny smirked at that, leaning down once more. "That's my line."
He kissed her again as his hands did the dirty work. Though, it was more of a angelic kind of work.
The fire that had lit between them had grown massively, ready to be in use.
Cassie gasped, her fingers clutching at his shoulders. "Sunny…"
His lips hovered just above hers as he whispered, "Tell me to stop."
She didn't.
Instead, she pulled him closer, her voice barely above a whisper. "I love you, too."
And then, the night belonged to them.
